DO NOT SIGN UP FOR VARSITY TUTORS YOU WILL GET SCAMMED. I am a Mechanical Engineering student at ****** that really needed help in his classes. When I first called with varsity tutors, they made it seem like they were so professional and their cancellation policy was easy, and they never mentioned that it would renew automatically (I see a lot of people complaining about this same issue by the way). The tutors were so unqualified. I had a meeting with the first one and he spent an hour trying to solve an intro exercise. The second one told me he had no idea what this material was, which is respectable but still... they're matching me with people that have no idea of the content of my course in which I need help. And I stopped trying at the third attempt. They refused to give me a refund.

I signed up for a 4 month plan through Varsity Tutors on March 3rd, 2025. I explicitly stated that I only needed tutoring for one week and for one assignment that was due on Friday March 7th, 2025 and didnt need tutoring for anything else after that. The representative I talked to on the phone assured me that I would receive help for my assignment due on Friday.I was assigned a tutor on Wednesday morning, however the tutor kept switching up their availability every time I confirmed a time that worked. Often times the tutor didnt confirm and texted me after the time for the session had passed. On Thursday they told me they could no longer meet up with me this week despite me having confirmed to meet up with them on Friday. Furthermore, I had previously informed them that my assignment was due on Friday and only needed help that week. On Thursday I even tried to look for another tutor that I could schedule and the next possible day to book a session was all the way on Saturday. I talked to a representative on the phone and explained my situation and they told me they dont provide refunds, information that I would have liked to know before I signed up but was never provided. The representative simply extended my 4 hours, despite me explaining that now that the assignment has passed I no longer required tutoring for any classes and my original requirement for signing up was never fulfilled by the company. Therefore, I would like to receive a full refund.

I am requesting a refund because I am still not showing improvement. The platform has had glitches and issues that take some of my time away from learning. I had connection issues several times during tutoring. I started tutoring before exam 1 and am still failing after exam 2 despite me asking questions, working with my tutor, and trying to watch previous tutoring sessions. The recordings of the tutoring session also glitched and stopped playing while I was reviewing. I am requesting a refund since I have not used the services since the renewal. I also even paid extra when I went over my original eight hours after my first billing cycle in an attempt to improve and understand, to no avail. Due to no services being rendered and confirmation of no positive improvement, multiple technical glitches that disrupt learning, coupled with my dedication to studying and participating with my tutor, I am pleading for a refund.

This is an SAT Prep course. We were given a quote for a month and half of their service for our daughter $529 for the month and 2 weeks $264.50. Total of $793.50. My daughter took the SAT on December 7. We were then charged again on December 24 $529.00. And again $529.00 January 24, 2025, and another on February 24 for $529.00. They are refusing to refund the 3 charges that were not authorized. They said they would send a contract my husband signed. I have yet to see said contract. I also asked for the recording of the call with the sales person to clear it all up. I was told they can't send me the recording due to privacy laws. I just want my money back and to not be charges again!!!!

In June 2024, I purchased four hours of tutoring service for my high school senior studying for a pre-calculus final. I used the service primarily because they offered an option for a last minute tutoring service, They also offered a four hour monthly package in which I would not have to sign an annual contract. After June, my credit card was repeatedly charged over the next eight months of services. I did not Sign up for a Sign up for a subscription to their service nor did I agree to have my credit card auto pay this monthly premium. Despite not using the service since June the company continued to bill my credit card. This was only discovered while my husband and I conducted our biannual expenses audit. *** contacted the company and requested a refund. My request was refused the same day Without further consideration.During these months, I did not receive any confirmations that I was being billed nor did I receive receipts that I had been billed for any of these months. *** asked the company to refund $2208 of my money for services not rendered.

I am writing to express my strong dissatisfaction with the way I was misled into signing up for your tutoring program. When I spoke with Varsity Tutors Sales representative on January 27, 2025, I was clearly told that: The monthly fee covered eight tutoring sessions, with any unused sessions carrying over indefinitely. If I canceled the service, I would still be able to use any remaining sessions, with no expiration. Cancellation or changes to the plan could be easily done online. Our first session would start within two days.Additionally, my credit card was processed over the phone before I was shown or had the opportunity to review any written contract outlining these terms. This only adds to my concern that I was not fully informed prior to payment.Unfortunately, my experience has been far from what was promised. The first session did not occur until seven days after enrollment (Feb 2, 2025), and scheduling with the assigned tutor has been extremely difficult. After three weeks, I managed to have only two sessions before deciding to cancel. Instead of an easy online cancellation, I had to spend over 20 minutes on hold after multiple searches for a contact number. To make matters worse, I was informed during the cancellation process that all unused sessions would expire at the end of the monthcompletely contradicting what I was assured on the phone.I feel that I was induced to sign up based on false information, and I believe I am entitled to a refund for the unused sessions, or at the very least, to have the originally promised terms honored.Varsity Tutors does not tell factual information at the time of signing up on the phone. Varsity tutors should honor what was verbally told on the phone at the time of the payment being processed.Sincerely,

I purchased 6 hours of tutoring hours from Varsity Tutors. After using three of those hours, the remaining 3 hours were taken away from my account. The companys explanation was those hours had expired. I was unable to use all the hours solely because my sons assignment tutor from this company had no availability in January of 2025. I had to start the first session the first week of February. The company was unable to provide service and yet took my hours away. I request the hours to be put back into my sons account.

We signed up for monthly tutoring for my son who is in special education. The platform and the tutors style of teaching was so complicated for him. The whole hour will be used trying to arrange her slides properly because it didnt seem to make sense. Next shell play music to take up the rest of the time instead of actually teaching him something. She also didnt seem motivated and had complained about the pay from varsity tutors. She said it wasnt worth her while to a high extent. We didnt think my son was getting anything out of it but decided to wait and see if things improved. I e asked her to make some adjustments based on his curriculum and she canceled on my son. We decided not to go ahead and just cancel as well since we had only done one month. They went ahead to charge us for one extra month and said they cant refund us. That is theft and we will like a full refund as we havent used any hours in the month we are being charged for. Their learning platform is not properly organized for special education and this has been a bad experience.

I was deceived; I was led to believe by my tutor that my account ended when we agreed she could no longer help me. Instead, I was billed to the end of the year. Varsity Tutors Client Experience Team Ticket#:2183305.I dont think it is an honest business practice to charge someone for something they are not obviously using.

We hired varsity tutors for my daughter to pass the New Jersey Praxis exam. I made them aware that she needed help in math, social studies, and science. The first two tutors were awful. They had no knowledge of the content area to help her. We finally found a good tutor on the third try. I was told that I would get a full refund if she didn't pass the test and was never made aware that there was a 14 day turnaround to submit the scores. Not only did she failed the test, but her scores went down And they charged me an additional $390 extra six months later for additional hours. I called to complain and was assured by one of the representatives that that should have never happened. Now they're telling me they won't refund my money because it was after the 14 days. This company is a disgrace and they should not be tutoring students.
