Charged us $2150 for just the installation of a $150 tankless water heater under our kitchen sink. I am aware of buyer beware and on that day to get hot water back in our kitchen it was the only solution without ripping up the kitchen floor. Had I been in a position to take time to evaluate I would have caught this unethical business practice. But we’d been without for 10 days already and it was wearing thin. Also we had a so-called master plumber visit for our dripping kitchen sink. He took one look at it and declared that it couldn’t be fixed and to just make sure we turned the water off. Fast forward 2 months and the entire handle assembly is broken. So what was really happening was that it was breaking but he didn’t even try to figure that out. Even when you're on the "gold" plan they charge $75 just to come estimate a new piece of equipment. They charge to estimate new business! Who would do that? Their plumbers are commissioned on the business they sell when they come to "repair" something so beware. Also the expertise level of plumbers varies from knowing almost nothing to having been there so long they don't do anything. I would have selected no stars if I could.

The technician that came out just bare faced lied to me about everything when it came to my furnace. They told me that I need a whole new system. That mine was to old couldn't get parts anymore. Didn't make the parts and would be around 25,000 thousand to 35,000 thousand dollars. Depending on time and labor it took. Like a chimney sweeper and such. Said the money was due when work was completed. For 3 years I had no working furance until someone else when and got a blower motor and replaced it . The cost was 250 dollar the the place had 10 of that motor sitting on the shelf . That May said wasn't made anymore. Three winter heated with kerosene and electricity. My electric bill was over 600 dollars a month during winter. I was stupid enough to go thru the same with the hot water heater cause I was paying 101 .00 dollars a month to them for a plan. They said it would be 3,697.00 dollars to do heater. So went some where else replaced heater for less than a 1,000 dollars. I finally got smart and cancel them so I thought. When on line like May said to cancel followed the thing. Called my bank and told them no more payments to May. Now May are sending me letters saying I own them money because am behind in payments.

Unfortunately, I ended my Gold Membership with A.B. May - after almost 15 years. The first 10 years were great - excellent customer service, excellent response time, I recommended the company to many friends/families. Customer service had been going downhill for several years, but then when I had scheduled a 6-month air conditioner/heater check months in advance, and had it cancelled on the day of the appointment - because they did not have enough technicians - rescheduled to have the same thing happen again - and then, rescheduled for a third (and final) time - only to have a no-show between the hours of 8:00 and 12:-00. They did not even call, I had to call them at 12:00, to be told that they were behind. No explanation other than that - no time estimate. When we also have jobs, it can be difficult to schedule time available to be home for an appointment. My feeling is that they do not respect my time as a customer, and they certainly must not want my business. Who is getting the available appointments? Are the gold members, who have free air/heating checks - being pushed aside for more profitable appointments? That is the only explanation I can come up with - and I am disappointed. Anyway, it is not worth the expense of the monthly charge, especially when not able to schedule an appointment with the expectation that they will show up. I will take my business elsewhere. If I had been able to submit without adding a star - this would have been a NO STAR review.

On July 19th my wife contacted AB may to clear aa clog in our line through the toilet in the master bath. The tech ran what seemed like a snake like plunger through our line. Part of the way into his work he went to the basement and discovered that raw sewage was now in the unfinished area of our basement. A manger came to the property and told my wife it wasn't their responsibility, and that she needed to call a bio hazard cleaning company and gave her a name to call. The cleaning company charged her $1960 to clean the mess. They also told her that this happens all the time. I called their main office and asked to file a claim with their insurance company. The lady on the phone took my information and told me she was initiating the process. This was Tues July 23rd. I received a call Wed the 24th from a man who identified himself as a manager. He was rude and refused any responsibility, insisting that it was our fault for clogging the drain. I let him know I would be suing for the damages. I filed a complaint with the BBB and received a call from someone from customer support. She offered to pay for the damages and refund the cost of the service call. They refunded the service call but only sent a check for half of the cleaning, not what I agreed to. Three weeks later, yesterday, our sewer backed up into our basement again. Had to call another plumber, Anthony's Plumbing. The new tech explained that AB May only pushed the clog further down the line and never got it to the street. He explained that most companies only carry 100 feet of snake, and that it's 125 feet from our main line clean out to the street, leaving the clog they pushed 25' short. Another $2000 in cleaning later, I'm out $3K because of AB May's incompetence, lies and poor customer service. I called and left a message for the customer support lady but no return call. I'm hardly surprised. Stay far away!

We called them out due to a pilot light out on our hot water tank. My father dealt with the tech. The tech never told him how much it would cost. Didn’t show him on the tablet when he signed either. He did no repairs at all. Just followed the instructions to light it. Charged us over $400! My mother contacted them and they reviewed it and still wouldn’t fix the situation. They are thieves! Call someone else.

I called AB May to have my unit inspected due to my blower motor being INOP. The technician had to call a supervisor to diagnose an issue I already knew I had. Then went outside to talk to the supervisor. My wife walked past and heard him speak about how he was trying to charge me more money……. Then I was told it was a rare, expensive model that is hard to get and wouldn’t be able to tell me how long it would take to get the part. I contacted another company. The unit was still under warranty and had the blower motor replaced the same day. AB May told me that it was going to cost $3081.00 for a component that was under warranty.

Horrible Company, as with other reviews I would give 0 stars if I could. I was notified by the energy company that I needed to install a slip joint conduit on my meter box. Because of this, I was without power. So I called A.B. May to install one so I could get my power up and running asap. To put the following in context, I just purchased my first house and look very young. I met the electrician at the door and the first thing he says is not "Hello" or "How are you doing" but "Are you the home owner?" I answered yes and he look at me suspiciously as if I were lying to him. I told him about the situation and brought him over to the meter. He tells me that the ac unit is too close to the meter so its unsafe to work so he cant do anything to help me. He then proceeds to suggest that I move either the ac unit or the meter. He asks to see my breaker panel so I escort him inside. Walking in he randomly asks if I have kids. I don't. In a judgmental tone he responded "Oh you have a whole house without any kids?" He looks at my breaker box and then tells me that its not up to the most recent code which had been updated a month ago so I needed to get that replaced. We walk upstairs and again he asks if I have any kids. Idk why he was obsessed with me not having kids. He pulls up a quote for $3800 having added in a bunch of the extra stuff that didn't really need to be done to fix my issue so I can get my power turned back on. He didn't even break down the prices for me. All he gave me was a total. Clearly he saw me as a young homeowner in a desperate situation with money and thought he could price gouge me. Even though all he did was mock me for being a homeowner with no kids and try to scam me, I still had to pay him his $90 service fee. I got a different local company to come out next day and they fixed the issue for $650.

I would give them negative stars if I could. I have a warranty on my A. C unit and they are trying to charge me over $3000 to get it fixed. After I've already paid them $650. Not even a month ago to fix it. And I only paid a little over $5000 for my unit. And it's less than three years old. Do not use them at all, run for the hills

A.B. May does not stand behind their work! My daughter who is a first time home buyer purchased a home 6 months ago. Approx. 3 weeks ago she had the main drain back up in her basement and called AB May for service. They ending up selling her a very expensive fix (16 thousand dollars) They completed the repair and approx. 2 weeks after the repair was completed they woke up to water gushing out of the concrete floor where the repair was completed, flooding their entire basement. They called AB May who came out approx. 6 hours after the initial call and when the service person first saw the problem he stated yes this is our issue but then stated he needed to call his boss and went outside to speak to his boss. After a few minutes he returned and stated it wasn't their issue and were not going to repair. My daughter has called AB May Numerous times since and can not even get a return call from anyone! They contacted their home owners insurance who stated it was caused from the repair and will only cover contents damaged. Their next step will be to contact a lawyer.

BUYER BEWARE- the AB May "home warranty" is a predatory tactic. Read other reviews. My son had an AB May warranty with house he bought. It ended up needing a new AC/ Furnace. His house is around 1000 sf they quoted him $13,000 but said he would get a $2000 "credit" for the warranty. So he ended up paying $11,000! I looked up the average cost of replacement in the KC area- its $6-8,000! And that's for homes much bigger. My husband looked up the cost of the A coil, furnace, etc. It's around $2500. He would have been better off getting a quote from a local HVAC guy. We tried to tell him.
