      National Car Rental at *********** refused to rent me a car because my drivers license was from a foreign country. Their website clearly states that they accept foreign drivers licenses, but they would not honor my reservation and left me in a foreign country with no car.

      Rented for around 120 days this year already, ******* club member for 2 years and a total of about 260 rental days since enrolling. There is always something, being it chips in the windshield that were present at the time of pick up but tried to blame me. Good that I document every damage and take pictures with time stamps.Anyway, last time the engine blew up for whatever reason, 30 kilometers short of the airport. Got Roadside coming, took a while, missed my flight, had to re book, a total disaster.They charged me the full cost for the rental, no compensation for my extra expenses and delay's I encountered. The poor guy at the counter did apologize but I know it's not his fault, no management member did reach out and even try to be sorry. Writing to their branch manager did bring anything, they just go silent as usual.Very unprofessional branch leader and Car rental agency.

      I have been an executive emerald **** member for a decade and have travelled a lot using national rental car across the nation. I must say the ********* location (origin of National Rental car) is by far the worst location.More recently, I had reserved a car and upon getting to the location there were no car ready in my reserved class. I asked if they can find me a car as we needed to get my daughter to her event, I waited another 25 mins (+/-) and eventually just picked one that a staff has recommended I use if I am unable to wait. 10 mins from that location, I was driving on just RIMS - I didn't run over anything at all. Found a space to park with a kid in the car, and the tire was ripped in multiple places. I called for roadside assistance at about 6pm, finally sent someone at 8pm. All the while trying to stay safe with my kid in an unsafe parking lot. Tried changing tire myself in-between that, but noticed the spare tire had a wheel lock and the key was not in the car. I even went back to the rental location and got minimal help until I asked to speak to the manager who seem helpful. The car was returned and replaced with another, eventually left the rental location about 9:20pm (+/-). My daughter missed her event which was our reason for the trip.No apology, nothing up till now. 10 year membership as an Executive Elite member, and this. Not even worth 1 star.

      I was providing a shuttle pick up for a guest who DROPPED OFF A RENTAL CAR at the AEX airport, this date (Tuesday 4-16-24 approximately 3pm). The guest asked me to follow him to the rental place to drop off the rental vehicle. The gentleman was handicapped, obese, elderly and could not walk very well.
      While attempting to be as nearby as possible to keep his walking distance down, a employee at the car rental place (who obviously was just sitting around outside), immediately advised me in very stern terms that I could not park there (off to the side and out of the way), because it was "rental cars only". I told him that we were dropping off a rental car but he said I had to leave, make an entire loop back around the terminal and park outside the terminal. I apologized to the guest and advised him where I would be parking and stated I was so sorry for him having to walk so far in his condition.
      The guest was probably in the office maybe 5 minutes to return the keys etc.
      This is just a sad situation. There were dozens of empty vehicle spots and I was parked completely out of the way of any potential traffic from a viewpoint that when the elderly man came out I could easily pull up and pick him up. I have done this dozens of times without incident but this one particular "Gung-Ho" employee decided to have an attitude about it all. (Guess he had nothing better to do). If the rental car dept wishes to punish the handicap that severely, perhaps they should make arrangements (by law), to have ramps and wheel chairs for people to come get them and take them to their pick up. The action was totally unnecessary by this employee. Thank you

      Everyone who works for this company is of no help. I rented a vehicle returned it with a full tank of gas, they charged me $100.41 to fill up a tank that was FULL, then proceeded to charge me six more times within a week for another $100.41 but they say they can’t see those transactions, I sent them two separate bank statements. Do you think anyone’s replied I even went to the corporate office and talk to someone and no one has gotten back to me they told me to take it up with my bank because it’s my banks fault. Pathetic everyone there is incompetent. I will never do business with them again.

      National Car Rental did not honor collision damage waiver that was included in car rental. We were notified upon return of rental car that there was minor damage, but were told "not to worry as we had purchased CDW which would fully cover any damage". However, several months later we received an invoice for repair and threats that, if not paid with 10 days, the matter would soon be sent to a collection agency and/or independent attorney. What could have been worse is that we were driving with understanding we had full insurance coverage. National Car Rental collected money for CDW and when it came time to apply coverage, National Car Rental did not honor CDW......completely fraudulent business practices.

      After renting car which broke down in the middle of the rental.Spent 5 hours and a lot of frustration had to go back to airport to get another car.Once after rental complete and back home asked customer service to speak to manager to register complaint.Was told Manager would call within a hour. No call.Then told within 48 hours.No call.Then after three more calls to customer service have given up on speaking to manager.Terrible service. Management couldn't care less about customer.Be careful when dealing with this company.

      Do not rent from here. When I went to pick up the car I had reserved, at 11pm, without notice they requested documentation to prove employment for discount which I did not have with me. Told me I either had to accept new rates which were almost double or I would not get a car. Multiple calls to customer service where promises made for return calls were never met resulted in nothing. Will never rent from National again.

      On July, 14, 2023, 13 members of my family traveled from
      Florida to Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, New York. From
      there we were to pick up 3 rental cars and drive 2 hours to Enfield,
      Connecticut to attend my mother's funeral the following day. Our
      reservations were made in early May and I had contacted National
      directly at the airport because their website said they closed at 6:00
      p.m. and our flight arrives at 7:15 p.m.. As instructed, I entered the
      flight number (********* #***) and arrival time and was told they would
      have someone there to provide us with the cars.
      We arrived on the 14th at around 7:25 p.m., which was very close to
      on-time, and found the National car rental kiosk closed. We contacted
      National immediately and numerous times after but they did absolutely
      nothing to help us that night in any way. If it hadn't been for the
      assistance of a NY State Trooper, the 13 of us, including my 3 young
      nephews and my special-needs daughter, would have been stranded at the
      airport. Besides us that night, two other families on that flight were
      also left without vehicles.

      I returned a car early and dropped it off at the airport with an attendant. The following day, I received an email stating that I havent returned the car yet. Ive been calling and even reached out via socials and all they can tell me is that they left a message for management to close the rental out. Its been 5 days. I cant get in touch with anyone at the actual location.
