1 starIn March 2016 Mercy released me from the hospital with kidney failure and undiagnosed bacterial Meningitis. When I cried because of the headache their doctor gave me ******. I spent 22 days at ** when my doctor pulled labs taken before they discharged me and she had me go to ******* October 2022, I was in hospital again. They released me at 10 AM. Throughout the day I got steadily worse. My best friend drove me to ****. I was put on a ventilator in *** and the doctors at **** could not believe I had been discharged by Mercy.Last night I went for a skin infection. My regular pharmacy is closed on the weekend so he sent it to Mercy Pharmacy. Turns out it's closed. When I called ER they wantede to go without it until tomorrow. When I clarified that they wanted someone immunocompromised to go without it for more than 24 hours, they said they would get charge nurse to send it in to a pharmacy that was open. When it wasn't sent into pharmacy that was open, I called back. I was told the charge nurse would get around to it when she could. My home health person has to leave without my meds because of his hours only covering a certain time. So I have ended up without the antibiotic.I plan to sue Mercy if I go septic or they ever almost killed me a third time.Review fromMireille T

1 starI had a procedure at Mercy Outpatient Center in ********** in early April 2024. My insurance paid their portion of the bill but requested that Mercy update the coding because they cannot by contract pay for a duplicate code. In June Mercy submitted a bill that was identical to the first. So my ***************** took back the money. I have tried working with Mercy to update the coding, but keep being told that it's accurate. The same code was used for the facility and the doctor. I had a needle biopsy/excision which accurately describes what the doctor did, but the facility/room itself did not perform surgery. I was told after two rounds of coding review that to use a different code for the location (not what I asked for) would be falsifying a claim. I asked that the expenses incurred by the hospital, which Mercy **************** identified as - procedure room, medical supplies and nurses, be coded with a general procedure room code, leaving the doctor's coding to reflect the actual procedure she performed.I have also asked that while the insurance portion of the bill is in dispute that they separate out my patient responsibility from the portion that was originally paid by insurance. This was the state of the account for months until the money was taken back. In fact, I had entered a payment plan for my portion of the balance which Mercy removed when they attempted to collect the additional funds from me. This has been a nightmare and the insult of the customer service ***** ******* referring to a multi thousand dollar charge as an inconvenience is the icing on the cake.Review fromJim K

1 starOn Monday, June 17, 2024, I went to Mercy Hospitals ***************** location for a urological procedure accompanied by my sister who was to drive me home afterwards. When it was my turn for processing at intake, an Asian female staffer who gave her name as **** called my name. Curiously, she motioned for my sister to accompany me into the intake room where I was to undress for preparation for the procedure. Once inside she asked me what procedure I was there for, albeit I saw that she was looking at this information on the computer before her. I then asked my sister to leave the room which she did. I then told **** that the person that she motioned to join me in the ********** space was not my wife but my sister and that she should have the presence to not assume that she was my wife and to ask if I wanted her to accompany me before usurping granting of that permission from me. As if this was not disparaging enough, when I proceeded to undress in order to *** the hospital garb, I asked where the locker was in which to place my clothing and **** said they did not have any. I told her I thought this was unusual for a hospital not to have a locker for surgical patients clothing and she then told me that my sister, to whom she had given my clothing, could request a locker for my clothing at the reception desk. However, she never told my sister this because when I needed my clothes in order to dress before leaving, my sister still had the plastic bags with my clothing inside. We discovered that although I placed all my clothing in the bag, **** had placed my shoes in a separate bag and apparently forgot to place my socks within the shoe bag. Thus, I had to go home without the Gold Toe brand socks I had arrived with. This entire episode was a disconcerting experience which is at once inexcusable and an outrage. RESOLUTION REQUESTED: Institute practice--determine if patient wants anyone to accompany them in ********** room and provide lockers for patient clothing.Review fromTerri W

1 starI had radiation treatments back in 2018-2019 after prostate removal. In September of 2019 I went to the mail box to get our mail. In the mail was a card from the radiation department @ Mercy Hospital South Cancer Center addressed to the family of me. The card was a sympathy card to hear of my death. It was nice that they cared but just a little premature. I saved the card and told the wife to use it when it really happens.Review fromTim P

2 starsAs a survivor of stroke, 17 of them, multiple occurrence of heart failure, when you agree to change medication with your doctor and the medication has a negative effect, "it is a waste of time to call Mercy Hospital or Clinic".The explanation is 24 to 48 hours wait time before they will return your call with instructions to return to old medication - even if your having minor allergy reaction you wait."It is policy" I am told bad a practice Manager, 24 to 48 hours. Somebody, anybody, tell me how this is patient care?Evaluation of Mercy is paramount if you want patient care. There is NO POSSIBLE EXCUSE for patient neglect.Review fromTeana T

2 starsI am very disappointed in the treatment that I received on 4/2/24! The nurse treated me as if I wasnt a patient.. I had went to triage to get an IV and the tech that put my IV in said that it will blow when I get to the back that they will fix in the room! The whole time my IV wasnt in causing major soreness.. I then went to the back it was then time to take a C/T scan the tech was very nice.. she noticed that the iv had blew.. she tried to look for my veins but she couldnt find them she didnt want to stick me when was good! She called for a my nurse.. my nurse also couldnt find a good vein so they proceeded to stick me with the needle 2 more times in my left arm.. and 6 times in my right arm.. they couldnt find it leaving bruises swelling and soreness! She had to get an ultrasound just to find it! She never told me when she was entering the needle in my arm she just shoved it inThey also never came to check on me when I was waiting in my room for hours with an extreme headache! I was treated very unfairly! I also contacted the nurses supervisor today! So hopefully the next person wont get treated the way I did! The Doctor was very nice! *** was nice! The C/T tech was nice also.. My nurses was horrible !!!
