I purchased a policy from carshield on July 7 2022. I was told by the agent that the car dealership that I currently take my vehicle to can use the policy and that was not true. The dealership has never accepted carshield, so I canceled the policy on Aug 8 2022. They charged me for two full months and gave me several different reasons why they charge me for two full months. This company lies and steal from customers.Business Response

I PURCHASED CARSHIELD INSURANCE IN MAY 2022, MY VEHICLE STOP WORKING ON JULY 7TH. I HAD MY VEHICLE PICKED UP AND TAKEN TO A LOCATION CHOSEN BY CARSHIELD AFTER 7 DAYS OF NOT EVEN LOOKING AT MY VEHICLE IT WAS MOVED TO ANOTHER LOCATION RECOMMENDED BY CARSHIELD AND SAT ANOTHER 7 DAYS WITH NO SERVICE IT WAS LATER MOVED TO THE 3RD FACILITY AND I HAVE SPOKEN TO OVER 7 DIFFERENT PEOPLE AT CARSHIELD AND THERE IS ALWAYS A NEW EXCUSE TO WHY MY VEHICLE HASN'T BEEN SERVICED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE CLAIM HAD BEEN APPROVED BY AN ADJUSTER AND LATER IT WAS DECLINED AND IT IS ONCE AGAIN WAITING ON MORE INFORMATION. I BELIEVED IT WAS INTENTIONALLY POSTPONED UNTIL ANOTHER PAYMENT WAS DEBITED FROM MY ACCOUNT. THE COMPANY HAS NO INTENTION OF HONORING THEIR COMMITMENT THEY DECEIVE PEOPLE AND STRING THEM ALONE AS LONG AS THEY CAN TO CONTINUE TO DEBIT THEIR ACCOUNT AND TAKE THEIR MONEY. 2 OF THE 3 REPAIR SHOPS BOTH TOLD ME CARSHIELD WOULD FIND A REASON TO DENY MY CLAIM AND NOT PAY FOR ANYTHING MORE THAN THE TOWING FEE. AS OF TODAY MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN 3 DIFFERENT SHOPS FOR 3 WEEKS AND ACCORDING TO CARSHIELD IT IS STILL WAITING ON SERVICE MAINTENANCE RECORDS. I SUBMITTED MY BILL OF SALE AND TOLD THEM ALL OIL CHANGES WERE DONE BY MY HUSBAND AND THEY ASKED FOR RECEIPTS OF OIL AND FILTERS FOR THE LAST 12 MONTHS. THE MECHANICS TOLD THEM OIL CHANGES HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TRANSMISSION GOING OUT BUT THEY TOLD ME WITHOUT THOSE RECORDS MY CLAIM COULD BE DENIED. THE COMPANY IS INTENTIONALLY TAKING PEOPLE MONEY AND FINDING A WAY TO DENY THEIR CLAIMS AND MAKING IT EXTRMEMLY HARD TO CANCEL YOUR POLICY. THE REPRESENTATIVES REFUSE TO GIVE YOU THEIR LAST NAME ONLY THE FIRST INTIAL ONLY IF YOU INSIST ON GETTING THEIR NAME. THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY.Business Response

On 6-3-2022 our covered vehicle stopped running. Had it towed to ***** **** of *******. On 6-6-2022 it was looked at, determined the timing belt broke, seized the motor. Our plan covers this repair, we were asked to provide 12/mos worth of records and receipts, I send them in. I hear nothing after a week, so I call, they say they need my records, I re-submit, I was also told ***** **** had notes back in 11/2014 stating our timing belt was to be replaced but we declined, so I need to prove that was replaced. I told them my father replaced the belt, as he did all the major work on our vehicle, what type of proof do they need? They asked if he was a certified mechanic and worked in a certified repair shop, I said no, the work was done in his garage, I wasn't aware your policies didn't allow you to maintain your own vehicle. I said I can provide the receipts and a log of the work done. I submitted the timing belt kit receipts as well as the maintenance log with the work he did, mileage, VIN #, vehicle desc, odometer reading and date of 4-9-2016. I wait another week, they say they can't except my information as 'accurate' due to the receipt for the timing belt repair facility came from '***** **** ******' which is a 'Parts Store' not a repair facility so we've denied your claim. I explain to them the words "***** **** ******" are the heading on the pad of paper that my father used, nothing more nothing less. Just the heading. If you look, it is not a receipt - no price, no nothing - just notes on a scratch piece of paper with "***** **** ******' as the heading. They do not seem to understand this, or not want to understand this, I even cut it off and re-sent without ***** **** ****** - I'm now 2 months out, ***** **** has told us to remove our vehicle or they will tow it due to abandonment. I have the policy showing I have provided exactly what is required of me when you do your own work, now they say my father was not qualified. Claim denied. Please help.Business Response

As noted on the first three pages of your contract, ******** **** ****** (***) is the administrator of your vehicle service contract and has FULL authority over repair procedures, approvals, denials and payments. We have contacted them to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. *** looked this over and the issue on this vehicle is the service for the timing belt that was due at 60,000 miles. You clearly did not get it done in time as *** received an invoice from a repair facility that recommended it at 74,182 miles. The vehicle is currently at 117,083. The only thing they have to verify that the service was done on a handwritten note showing a date of 4/9/2016 at mileage of 83,554 miles. There is no verifiable receipt to show this was actually purchased. They did include a part number for a timing belt kit that is the correct number for an aftermarket belt and pullies but this kit does not include the tensioner. So this is only a partial kit and would have been an incomplete repair.
The real issue with this handwritten log is that the date and mileage written on it is no where near lining up with the ******. The ****** shows on 10/30/2015 there was an oil change at ******* at mileage of 90593. This is almost 7K miles higher than their record and before the date on the record by 6 months. With this showing up on the ****** there is no way the handwritten record is correct and it is not verifiable at all.
Since you cannot show they properly maintained the vehicle there is no coverage for the engine failure due to timing belt failure. As a resolution, CarShield will refund your last 5 payments upon execution of a Settlement and Release Agreement. Please email ****************** if you wish to proceed with this offered resolution and we will draft the Settlement Agreement for your signature. If you have a luxury vehicle… /***** is not the car warranty for me. Company is deceptive in sales. They should automatically know based on vehicle make/model if companies will accept warranty plan. And the method in which they try convincing you not to cancel is more frustrating. Cancellation department advised they could still save me thousands of dollars by negotiating with dealership even though they don’t accept Carshield/*****, I’m like sir, why would a dealership want to talk to you and you aren’t paying. I can negotiate savings if possible myself. Cancel my policy immediately and stop the receipt ion!!!! Based on dishonestly and omission of truth by company I am requesting a full refund for past 2 months of coverage paid for a warranty “no ****** dealership” in ** or 50 states will accept. Company assured me that warranty is accepted worldwide for all vehicles.Business Response

My car started acting up so it was put in a shop. Carshield told them to tear down my motor to figure out if the timing belts were bad. They proceeded to inform car shield that my timing was bad. It is a covered part on my contract. We the shop and i have been trying to get them to approve the repair. I bought this policy because I am a one income mom. I can't afford expensive repairs. I have had to cover some of my other repairs. I need help I now owe a 600 or more dollars for the rental car and the repairs are close to ****.Business Response

As noted on the first three pages of your contract, ******************** (AAS) is the administrator of your vehicle service contract and has FULL authority over repair procedures, approvals, denials and payments. We have contacted them to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Your claim was called in to AAS on 8/1/2022 for timing chain rattle and engine dying out at stops. Your repair facility found your timing chain tensioners had failed.
Coverage has been applied to your claim per the terms and conditions of your contract and rental reimbursement is considered at this time once we have rental invoices to review. This claim moved forward in a normal and correct manner and delays were caused by your repair facility and inspection process which is not under AAS control.

Took my vehicle (******** **** to my local ******** ********** for a sensor light problem. When they diagnosed my car they found two additional problems, one dealt with a fuel pump and the the other with engine mounts. CarShield refused to pay for the sensors indicating it wasn't part of the warranty despite a salesperson saying it was and they refused to pay for the fuel pump. Their rationale for refusing to pay for the fuel pump was due to a third party tool they use to estimate when an item will become defective! My dealership submitted all of the service work on my vehicle along with their recommendations for repairs and or replacement and the fuel pump was never on the repair/replacement list thus it wasn't a pre-existing condition they use to reject the claim. This is in my humble opinion a "sham"!Business Response

I purchased an extended auto warranty policy from this company, I was told that it would cover any and all needed repairs. I took my car to the shop with a transmission issue, but this company instructed my mechanic to tear apart the transmission, then later denied my claim. Now I am being held responsible for the mechanic bill of $1600.00 for service they requested plus the cost of the transmission replacement. This policy saved me zero dollars, instead it increased my repair bill by over $1600.00. I feel the work they requested should be covered by them, as well as all needed repairs just as I was promised at the time I originally purchased the policy.Business Response

As noted on the first three pages of your contract, ******** **** ****** (***) is the administrator of your vehicle service contract and has FULL authority over repair procedures, approvals, denials and payments. We have contacted them to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Per their notes and based on the facts in the claim documents and the inspection report several things are happening here.
The internal transmission failures began happening prior to the purchase of the your contract. You were aware of the transmission concerns based on the level and type of failure. These failures would have presented themselves a long time prior to the actual failure taking place. *** also notes the initial contract starting mileage is wrong, which makes the VSC null and void due to mileage misrepresentation. The service records you sent to *** were not complete. The forward sprag assembly does not seize into the front pump housing assembly without some very serious heat build up, build up caused by internal components failing and causing a fluid restriction over time. The pan magnet is heavily covered in metallic debris which is another verification of long term failure.

The second contract ********** only has only one pre-claim called in for the oil cooler failing and causing a leak. I called to cancel my policy since I had purchased a new vehicle. The first phone call I did not get the female's name, she asked me why I wanted to cancel and I told her. I then called back in June and spoke to someone and I believe I was transferred to ***** who told me that the policy HAD NOT been canceled and I took the extra step of talking to the customer ********************** rep (I don't have my notes from my phone calls to confirm the name). I then spoke to ***** the last Thursday in July and blasted him because this is STILL an issue and I continue to receive phone calls, texts, e-mails stating the premium is due. I then spoke to another female within 7 - 10 days after the phone call in July and blasted her and told her to listen to their recorded conversations that they use for training purposes and they would know that I did indeed cancel my policy with them and did it using the proper channels. I am sure they are going to try and say that I owe them premiums for at least June and July which I will NEVER pay. This place was horrible in the handling of my claim I filed with them. No adjuster ever went to look at my truck and used a condensed version of my statement as to what was going on with my truck when I filed my claim. I told them the date that my check engine light came on and that I couldn't get an appointment for a week and a half and they turned that around and wanted to know why I drove the truck for so long after I reported trouble with it which again all they needed to do was listen to the taped conversation for training purposes and they would know. I feel as though they just didn't want to replace the engine which was ****** recommendation. Even **** customer ********************** was stupified by their decisionBusiness Response
