I have been paying into this car warranty for approximately 2 years. I finally file a claim for an a/c evaporator that is covered under my warranty. They would be responsible for paying roughly around $500. They want me to pay a tear down fee of $818 because they want more pics of the leaking evaporator. They said to authorize the tear down and precision tune said I can't just authorize the tear down I have to pay for it up front because Car shield doesn't like to pay. They said that they neglect to pay frequently and they don't see them paying this time either. Before I turn this into a civil matter I wanted to get bbb involved. I want them to pay for the part that is covered under my warranty otherwise I will be seeking every dime that I have invested which is well over $2000Business Response

Blessings to you: I canceled both my contracts for my 2017 Mercedes Benz contract *** ******* and *** **** **** contract *** ******** The reason is the mechanics do not want to except your contract. I don't know why they stated that your company don't want to pay for new parts! You don't want to spend the money! I can't afford used parts in my cars to break down again. Please return my payment that you took out of my account. I appreciate it! Know one from your company told me if I cancel I would not receive my money! Trust me I will be expecting it back in my account. I would really appreciate it! I am retired and I do not have any money to give away. I am sorry but I can't afford to pay out of pocket if people do not except your business. Once again I will expect my money in my bank account. Blessings *** ****** *******Business Response

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this matter.
You purchased your vehicle service contracts on 6/14/22 and were given a 30 day period to review the terms and conditions of the contract and receive a full refund should your choose not to keep coverage on your vehicles. Furthermore you are as bound to the month to month policy as CarShield and given the details of your complaint there is no refund due.
Carshield and your administrator, ******** **** ******, are open to and willing to work with any repair facility that you select. However, each repair facility is able to determine who they wish to do business with as well. In this case they have refused to do business with you. There is nothing that CarShield or *** can do to force any repair facility to work with you.
However, as a courtesy CarShield will refund your last payment on both contracts. You will receive the refunds back to the card on file within 3-5 business days.

After paying Car Shield 5 months based on the sales person telling me that Tesla does accept Car Shield and finding out that Tesla does not accept 3rd party warranty companies after trying to file a claim. After I was denied by Tesla to warranty my vehicle with Car Shield I then requested a refund from Car Shield. So far no refund has been given back to me based on the grounds that Car Shield is not applicable to all Tesla vehicles and service centers as Tesla is a proprietary serviced vehicle. I purchased a policy with them in March. And there was a 20 day 500 mile warranty on it. I made a claim much after the waiting period was over. I took my car in and there was an issue with the transmission. They said they would send out an adjuster. They never sent an adjuster. We waited 10 days. I called Carshield, and the mechanic did too. Carshield said the claim had been denied but no one ever contacted me. I called them and they said there was a policy saying that the transmission wasn't covered. Nothing in my paperwork says that, it says quite the opposite. I requested a copy of the true insurance policy from them, and I received it July 1. That has different wording than my policy. They never sent me the booklet until I requested it. The booklet is very detailed and is called the Carshield Protection Plan.Business Response

I joined CarShield about a year ago and I was skeptical about the service. So the rep I spoke with reassured me that it was legit. So moving forward from that day to a week ago that all changed for the worse. I called CarShield with what was wrong with my truck and I spoke to a rep and I told them that it was a problem with the timing chain and the part that makes it move needed to be replaced. This part is considered as a moving lubricated part and was covered in my contact. So I’ve been paying for almost 2 years so if something happened to my engine I would be covered but I was wrong. So now they have 2000..00 dollars of my money and now I have no service and can’t get my truck fixed I’m including the paper work called a diagnostic sheet which explains what ********* found that was wrongBusiness Response

I am rejecting this response because:I have already filed a complaint with you guys due to CarShield not providing a service I paid for. I have paid. Up to 2000.00 to CarShield to fix my truck. I called to file a claim with CarShield and had the diagnostic paper in front of me and told CarShield what the parts were and they said the timing chain mechanism to run my engine isn’t a moving part . Then the next issue that I had with CarShield is that they pulled money out of my account even after I made changes to my due date due to loss of hours at my job. The CarShield rep told me that as long as I made arrangements two weeks out everything would be ok so the rep told me that I would get the money back into my account which never happened. Then I called back due to the refund not being in my account. So I called and asked why it wasn’t posted and I finally got a rep that said it was their mistake cause they didn’t update the second system. I was assured by the rep that the money would be in my account that day and it still wasn’t there. I kept calling CarShield and they kept coming up with excuses to not refund me my money. Then I called my bank chase and case investigated the problem with CarShield and I finally got my money back. Then today august 10,2022 CarShield sent me a text message saying I have to pay them and I called them today and told them I want it canceled and they gave me garbage and basically refused to cancel my membership with them, then CarShield kept calling me today and harassing me
I want a refund.

As noted on the first three pages of your contract, ******** **** ****** (***) is the administrator of your vehicle service contract and has FULL authority over repair procedures, approvals, denials and payments. We have contacted them to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. ***' notes your claim was placed inactive on 3/30/22 when you were told you would need to relocate the vehicle on multiple phone calls. *** provided a list of different repair facility locations that would actually facilitate with claim movement. Once your vehicle was moved, the new repair facility performed some RDI per request but not a complete RDI like they were instructed. *** has evidence of coolant/oil intermix and need to determine the cause of failure. Your repair facility stopped returning calls. Then over a 10 day period of time multiple calls were made to you to explain that your repair facility was not returning calls. You did not return calls for 10 full days then called in wanting to escalate the claim due to delays. Delays are not the fault of ***. At this point *** has no verifiable service records have been supplied, no adequate RDI has been performed to verify the cause of failure and both you and your repair facility have created delays.
To add complications on this matter, in January of 2022 this engine had a water pump failure that allowed coolant oil intermix to occur. This diagnosis was performed at a different repair facility. *** notes states you declined to have the repairs performed at this time due to age and mileage of vehicle. The reported mileage at that time was higher than the reported mileage on the new claim. Your vehicle has a pre-existing failure that occurred early during contract coverage, no RDI performed and your declined repairs and continued to drive the vehicle which resulted in total engine failure and unverified contract starting mileage resulting in the contract being null and void.
We see that you have already cancelled your contract and received a partial refund. As a courtesy, CarShield will refund an additional 3 payments upon execution of a Settlement and Release Agreement. Please email [email protected] to confirm the cancellation and refund. Once we receive the email, we will draft the Agreement and email it to you for your review and signature. I am rejecting this response because:
Hello, my name is ******** ****** and I spoke with ****** at carshield and she told me that they denied me pre- existing problems with my vehicle, I asked her you all changed the reason from nonpayment to pre-existing problems. She said that's what they saying. I spoke with Sherri Leigh last week and she said due to non payment, unfortunately they wouldn't be able to fix it. Bbb,, I have a recording on everytime I talked with them, they lying. ****** told me they want to refund me 3 months of payment. I am not accepting that, because they had my truck in the shop since March 16, 2022 until their final decision was made. The decision was made August 5 and the 6, 2022. Thee shop is charging me storage fees for the whole time my truck was at his shop. He told me $250 per day. That's what I want them to pay so I can get my truck back. I am. Not asking for lesser than that.

We started a policy in December 2021 never missed a payment and as soon as we go to use our coverage they proceeded to tell us there was a mileage discrepancy and to send in maintenance reports and the claim would be handled in ***** hours and that was a week and four days ago. We sent in the information that they requested and still got nowhere and the claim . Each time We call in we speak with a different representative that either hangs up on us or tells us theres no new information on our claim. The auto shop that we took our vehicle to for repairs played phone tag with CarShield as well and got nowhere. So we decided that we were just better off paying out-of-pocket for our vehicle because it had been way too long and we both had missed too much work and we decided to cancel the policy last Wednesday. I spoke with a representative by the name of ****** who told us that the claim was still under review and that we can cancel at any time and we expected that to happen but it did not, at the beginning of August we were charged again for our monthly plan with CarShield after we specifically told them we wanted to cancel because we were unhappy with the service that we received. We called in today and got hung up on three times and the representative pretty much told us that we were not able to receive a refund and that we were stuck with coverage until September. We would like our policy canceled and a refund of Augusts charge immediately!!!!!Business Response

On Monday, August 1, 2022, I spoke with a customer ********************** representative to cancel my account with CarShield because I have been having so many issues with my account since March 2022. My main issue is that CarShield took out two payments from my bank account in March 2022, within 15 days of each other. I thought this issue was resolved, but it happened again. One payment of $******, was taken out of my bank account by CarShield and paid on July 1, 2022, and a second payment of ****** paid to CarShield on July 8, 2022. The customer ********************** representative that I spoke with on Monday, August 1, 2022, said that she would call me back on Tuesday evening, August 2, 2022, with a resolution to my account after speaking with her manager. August 3, 2022 Today I was denied coverage on a car repair that is clearly stated in my contract. The repair was to replace the wiring harness in my rear liftgate. This wiring harness is to provide power to my rear tail lights, reverse camera, rear brake lights, a relay and other electrical components. Car Shield denied my claim saying they won't cover the wiring harness because its related to the reverse camera. I believe this is a complete void of my contract as it states that the wiring harness will be covered for "listed covered components." In this case, listed covered components includes the mentioned issues above especially the relay which is clearly in my contract. You can find this under *************. Now I am stuck with safety issues in my car. I have attached my contract to this claim. Thank you.Business Response

As noted on the first three pages of your contract, ******************** (AAS) is the administrator of your vehicle service contract and has FULL authority over repair procedures, approvals, denials and payments. We have contacted them to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. AAS spoke with your repair shop to get a better understanding of the failure. The harness that failed is on the right side of the trunk hinge and the normal operation of opening/closing the trunk lid has caused the harness/backup camera wires to have an open resulting in the backup camera being inoperative. Your repair facility said that there were no other issues with any tail/brake lights and your concern was with the back up camera being inoperative. This contract provides coverages on wiring harness for listed components and the backup camera is not a listed component. A list of covered components can be found in Section B of your contract which we have attached for your convenience.
You may choose to keep your Powertrain Service Contract for future covered repairs or you may choose to cancel your coverage. If you choose to cancel your contract, CarShield will refund your last 6 payments upon execution of a Settlement and Release Agreement. Please email ******************************* to confirm the cancellation and refund. Once we receive the email, we will draft the Agreement and email it to you for your review and signature.
