If I could give zero stars, I would. This company operates with a shocking lack of integrity. Their predatory towing practices take advantage of young drivers and visitors, often swooping in within minuteseven when parking signage is unclear or poorly posted. Theres no room for discussion or resolution: they demand immediate cash or tow your vehicle to a remote, rundown lot, where they then insist on a higher paymentpreferably by credit card, which leads to even more inflated fees. This business does not operate in good faith and reflects poorly on the Chapel Hill community. An investigation into their practices is long overdue. They are not serving the publictheyre exploiting it.

One of the most predatory companies *** ever seen. Girlfriend was towed last night, we called and were told it was $300 and was not told there would be an overnight storage fee of $85 dollars. Today when we pick up the car, they tell us its 385 cash or 460 card. Obviously the increased card fee is used so people cant dispute transactions. The pricing is also outrageous.

This company has its towers park in lots and stalk people (through video feeds to their phone) that park in these lots and if they step foot off the premise, they tow them. It doesn’t matter if you shop/eat in the lot and then leave, you will get towed. EXTREMELY predatory business and the fee is $380 with card or $280 with cash but who carries that much cash? They should absolutely be investigated for their business practices.

This company stalks through the lot looking to take the next car! Then they charge $280 IF you give them cash before 9 pm, if not it goes up to almost $400! Pretty disgusting practice in a college town!!! Even more disgusting in mold on the office walls and mouse f**** at the window where you hand over your money to a female who's looking at her phone the whole time! They have an F rating with the BBB!! It's no wonder they have the lowest customer rating in the area. A 2.8 is almost as low as it gets!!

Predatory business makes money by towing cars from shopping centers. Refused to give a printed receipt and refused to share copy of the photo documentation they based the towing on. Their excessive fines are not displayed on signage. Poor communication.

Horrible towing practices at ****************** and Barnes Towing is 100% in on it. CMM needs to place better signage (that can be seen in the dark) in front of the parking spots. Instead, they (is it CMM or Barnes??) choose to put their money into watching well-placed cameras and watching unsuspecting people leave the lot so they can JUMP into action and then tow your car 15 minutes away and charge you $290 (if you pay cash) or $350 (card) or even more if you can't get your car that night. Barnes is PREDATORY!!!! They'll just claim they're doing their job, but where there's smoke there's fire and this towing practice seems so unethical to me.

My sister and I were caught up in what I know now to be a money grabbing scheme by the owner of a shopping center and a local towing company. The towing company lies in wait on site for customers to park in the centers lot, as they get caught up in a Draconian rule that states that if you leave the centers property AT ANY TIME, your car is subject to towing. There are security cameras in place that have recently been installed to aid them in their monitoring and apparently the feed is sent directly to the towtruck drivers iPad. Wow.The signage faces inward toward the parking lot, and it is not clear, for example, that the restaurant parking lot, which we used, is part of that mall. Additionally, one cannot read the signs from the street (which would allow a driver to choose another spot, knowing this policy is in place). The police have sent letters to the manager, no word on the effectiveness. Inside 30 minutes after parking at this lot (and yes, we did cross the street heaven forbid, but then came back to the mall to shop and ostensibly stay for dinner), my sisters car was towed. To another county. To the tune of $360 to get it out of the impound lot. Including a $100 surcharge for using a credit card. This is privately owned property, so no ordinances have effect apparently. And predatory? Lets just say that over almost 250 cars have been towed in less than a month. That should tell you one thing. The fact that the towing company has access to security footage and the camera feeds, and from what I heard, makes the call to tow, NOT the shopping center. That should tell you something more. And, the fact that the business owners in the mall are upset about this practice, because its driving business away. Huh, imagine that. The towing company is BARNES TOWING in ***********-Carroboro.The mall is **************, managed by property manager *************************, and owned by ***************************, who lives out of state. Shop there at your peril.
