Senior Citizen bullied and scammed - made me pay a $200.00 credit card fee because I didnt have the $140 cash - The driver wouldnt let me go despite being at my vehicle as he was arriving never hooked up to my car at all. Beware ******************** Look at the many one star filing against them here, better business bureau and elsewhere.

I parked my vehicle in the parking space in front of ****************** in ********, and walked through the shopping center to visit the stores at the mall. When I came back to visit the card shop, my vehicle had been towed by this predatory company. Their reasoning was that I had left the premises and there are signs that warn against doing that. I HAD LITERALLY PARKED IN FRONT OF THE BUSINESS I WAS GOING TO VISIT!!, and these thieves towed my car within 10 minutes of me parking it. They then drove my car over 30 mins away, and impounded it. They refused to release my vehicle until I paid them $360. I live over 5 hours away, and everything I had with me was locked in that impound lot, so what was I going to do but pay up?The city of ******** should be embarrassed that they are allowing this kind of shameful practice to take place. What a way to treat visitors to your town. Disgusting. Not that anyone actually checks in the BBB site before they do business with anyone, but as of the time of my writing this review, this company has a D-minus rating. I have never seen a rating that low. I don't know how the people of this town have allowed these horrible people to remain in business.

I parked at the ****************** in Carborro, ************** on 11/2/23 around 8:30pm to run a few errands in the area, including a grocery shop at ****** Street before closing at 9:00pm. A few hours later I found my car had been towed. According to Barnes Towing, my car was supposedly reported at 8:59pm and towed shortly thereafter. Signage in the lot says the lot says "Parking for Customers Only. If you walk off this property, you are subject to being towed". Signage does not specifically say which businesses the lot serves. I was not only a customer of the grocery store but was also a customer/patron at other businesses nearby. My assumption was that if I was a customer of the adjacent businesses adjacent to the lot, then I would not be subject to towing since I was a customer. It is very confusing language on the signage and I believe I was unfairly towed just 30 minutes after I parked. It is predatory. When I spoke to the tow company on the phone to release my car they also informed me cash was the only allowable payment type, however the tow sign says "Credit / Debit Cards Maybe Used with a Fee of $150". I was not offered this payment type, which is against the town's ordinance. I will also point out that a $150 fee to use a credit card is also predatory. I paid $345 on 11/3/23 to get my car back otherwise I would have had to pay an additional $85/day for storage if I wanted to to try and contest. I believe this business is acting very unfairly and not operating within legal parameters specifically using ambiguous wording on their signage to allow for them to do as they want without any recourse. This is blatant thuggery. I spoke with ********************************* from ************************** on November 7th and he informed me his department has been receiving complaints several times a week regarding this tow company's business practices. BEWARE OF PARKING AT ******************

Barnes Towing is running a legalized theft operation. During my interaction with Barnes, they violated multiple *********** city ordinances, refused payment, refused to release my vehicle back to me, and hit my husband with their tow truck. On the evening of November 28, Barnes Towing stole my vehicle from the ********* parking lot on Franklin ******* Before picking up our food, my husband and I walked across the street to pick up our boba order. Less than 5 minutes later, as we were walking into the *********, we saw that our car was in the process of being hooked up to a Barnes Towing tow truck. When we spoke to the driver, who we believe is named *************************, he told us we could pay $140 cash or $200 on card to get our car back. He then told us that we had five minutes to get cash from an *** before he took our car. My husband began walking to the **** and checked ****** Maps for directions. He saw that the *** was a 0.5 mile walk away, meaning he would have to walk a full mile in under five minutes to prevent our car from being towed. Many people understand that walking a mile in five minutes is impossible. When my husband returned, he attempted speaking to the driver, who had shut himself in the tow truck with his window rolled up. When my husband tried to offer paying by card, the driver yelled that it was too late and began pulling our car out of the lot, hitting my husband with the tow truck in the process. We were forced to call law enforcement and file a police report against Barnes. After taking the bus to an *** and calling an Uber for the 30-minute trip to the car lot, which is a very dark, sketchy property in the middle of nowhere, we were able to get our car back for $260 (it would have been $360 to pay on card, which they tried to get us to do).

Predatory towing! Scammers and trying to get cash so they don't have to report and/or so the towing operator can put it in there pocket!

I placed a mobile order at Panera at *********** ,**.When arrived they told me that my order needed 10 more minutes.I cross the street to my ATM and in less than 2 minutes my car was being towed. I also showed mobile order receipt and they refused to do anything about it.He told me It was $260 CASH ONLY. they do not accept credit/debit cards when it comes to towed vehicles that were illegally parked. A refusal to accept credit/debit cards is a violation of Section 11-304(e) and is punishable as a misdemeanor."When I arrived to retrieve my car from the lot..it was $500....$140 extra because I gave them to many problems...$100 EXTRA for credit card payments No receipt .......The local government should also check into this towing company behavior and legal own rules...

Worse company on the face of the planet. Predatory towing, do not comply with city rules and regulation, only accept cash and do not give proper receipt when you pay. They do not even deserve 0 stars. Barnes towing has a contract with Panera, and if you so much as step foot off the property they ******** you. They have cameras where they can watch you leave, and as soon as they do they ******** your car. This type of set up is called predatory towing, and most cities like ******* have laws preventing this practice, and unfortunately *********** does not. This is really scummy to do. There are no *********** towing laws that can help with this, and not even a limit on how much they can charge!

Agree with previous reviews! My daughter had also placed a mobile order at Panera that was not ready. She ran to get a drink at Target and in less than 5 minutes her car was being towed. She also showed receipt and they refused to do anything about it. They are vultures and pry on students who can barely afford a bagel at Panera. How about a little humanity. I called the manager who had absolutely no compassion. I agree that a car should not be there after your order has been received or after you have eaten at Panera, but less than 5 minutes while you are waiting for your order. Unbelievable.

WARNING!! VULTURES! My daughter placed a mobile order at Panera Bread and it was not ready. She has strep throat and did not want to wait inside. She walked next door to get medicine and she was back within 10 to 15min. by the time she got back to pick up her order her car was towed. Even when she showed them her mobile order receipt they refused to help her and still charged her $260. She was WAITING on her food that WAS NOT READY!!
