My husband parked at ********* on **************** parking lot was full so he parked to the side (the parking lot is attached to another business as well, no clear markers). There WAS a no parking, towing sign, but my husband said he parked 20 feet away and was only walking in to get his food and then leaving. By the time he walked back out, they had is work van up and about to tow. My husband called his office and they were having trouble paying it, and the man said if it wasn't paid within 5 minutes he was leaving with it. So my husband offered to pay the $140 himself. They wanted to charge him an ADDITIONAL $100 just to use his card! So he had to run down to Target and get the cash and run it back before his work van was towed. This man is a schemer, a con man, and a thief.

This business lies to people they are towing claiming they only accept cash to release your car; therefore forcing people to pay only by cash. If you don't pay cash they tow and then ask you to pay twice the amount to get your car back! Don't fall victim to these towing sharks like I did yesterday off ******** St, be more knowledgeable about what they are supposed to be posting on their towing signs and that you are free to use any form of payment if this happens to you

My son just turned 18. He car was being towed by Barnes towing in chapel hill. He was parked in an apartment complex in a spot that was not marked as “no parking”. The complex called the towing service and admitted later that “over time the asphalt paint wears and offered no solution to the lack of marking ect.
Anyways Barnes was called and loaded my sim car, then told my sim if he paid in cash or cash app only, he would drop the car. I asked to speak with the tow guy, he refused. I told my son that this situation sounded like blackmail/fraud and that I would call the company. I did, the company said that yes cash or cash app is all they accepted. They wouldn’t even take Venmo. I think this is to avoid paying taxes as well as charge backs on credit cards. We I spoke to the woman she said he could pick it up from the tow yard for $240. My son showed up and they insisted once again on cash, provided zero proof that he was illegally parked. No pictures or anything and then charged him even more, $260 without explanation. This business does not seem legit (like they report all income) as well a friend of mine owns a tow company near by and said they HAVE to provide proof that they were parked illegally. As well they charge an unfair price in my opinion. The local government should reinstate the max charge towing law. Someone should also check into this towing company
