I have been out of power since September 27th since the hurricane hit us in **. I was supposed to be getting power by the 'estimated' date of Oct 4th. I had my hopes up when I seen power all around my neighborhood but 1 street that I am ok dosnt have power. Seemingly untouched, there are no trees on the powerlines, its easy access. I feel like they are skipping us on purpose, I've been told the same script over and over and im paying these guys? Duke energy is full of tyrants. Understand they are working hard, but power all around us and 1 street?? I wish they can give more information, true information.

This monopoly needs to be broken apart. This company had the **** to demand a raise while leaving the locals without power for days. I realize that a power company cannot be held responsible for a hurricane but their response can be. My house is one of the older houses in the area. My neighbors have had power for days while Duke through their actions tell me that I'm not important enough for my food to not spoil. Who's going to pay for the food that went bad because duke energy doesn't care about us? I personally have seen many electric companies rise to the situation in Duke energys territory. I haven't seen a since duke energy truck working at all. And yet they hold the community's livelyhood in their hands since they are a monopoly. I thought that was illegal in *******. I guess duke energy is more worried about lobbying politicians to subvert the laws against monopolies rather than providing for their oldest customers. So to the people reading this, I say we replace duke with any of these other companies that actually worked to restore power to the upstate. We need to get rid of these greedy fers. To duke energy, f you. I should wait a full week (how long I've been without power) to pay your bill.

****** hit and while their crews are working hard their customer service isnt. Well, assuming its their crews. They brought in people from outlier states. However, Ive been without power for 6 days despite what their useless app has stated and I have elderly adults I care for. The customer service agent on the phone was heartless, cold, not at all sympathetic. She offered no apology but rather ARROGANCE. They definitely got their A team protecting them legally. This is what a monopoly does because the numbers on their outage map arent going anywhere here and they honestly dont care. There is no way to fight them and theres no other company to switch to. If I could give them a negative amount of stars I would because they sat up there in their press release two days ago and let the director of Duke lie about who would have power restored and when. My friend mailed me a generator during the storm and it got here on the 5th day. Whoever runs ***** needs to come run Duke Carolinas.

If it was allowed I would give them a -5. **** has become one of the worst companies to do business with. Their rates have become astronomical as their service to their customers has declined. (None of this review is meant to reflect on the actual workers at ****. They work hard and earn what they are paid. This review pertains to the executives and their sorry communications department). The state of ** just allowed them to increase rates (price gouging) while their CEO receives (not earns) over $20 million dollars per year. During the ****** emergency they sent most of their trucks to ******* while neglecting SC. Duke trucks were a rare sighting in ** during the first days after ******. The weather services reported all along that it was going to hit SC really hard but that had no impact on their planning. Many people are suffering while the execs at Duke live it up on their exorbitant salaries and perks. Their communications during this emergency have been pathetic. The outage map is laughable and their texts, emails , etc are nothing above pathetic. Their executive suites and communications departments should be totally cleaned out and replaced with individuals who realize what customer service is and who feel an obligation to strive for excellent customer service rather than providing below mediocre service to the consumers who are forced to pay astronomical bills for their service. Many customers are struggling with the exorbitant bills they are receiving and ***** poor service does nothing to help.

Zero stars for Duke energy and management! We have been for 4 days without energy, **** informed us we would have energy by Sunday night. They posted that on site, now they lied! We had to spend $300.0 on foods that nobody will return. We have conditions and we need to get the power back. The teams and operations are out of Date and they are prepared for Categories hurricanes 3 or 4. ******** the presidents needs to smell the coffee and put his workers OT! He needs to get a retirement Job and let somebody else do his position!

I lived in ******* where hurricanes were a regular **************** never gone so long without my power being restored as I have here in ** with ****. This is crazy, i understand other places were effected more but you dont have people to call in for emergencies?! My power goes out for the slightest ********** can be left for days- all food spoiled in the fridge, no hot water to shower, no ability to cook for my children. But they act like every storm is catastrophic. So tell me how *** in ** manages to avoid these issues and promptly restore power when they have REGULAR CATASTROPHIC storms. Something isnt adding up. Hire more people or stop monopolizing the energy market here when you cant handle it and allow customers options that can do the job.

They are very lazy! They could care less about their customers! I have 4 kids at home we cannot continue to be without power!

Requested my services get disconnected in Feb 2024. Paid final bill later that month. They sent more charges in March and when I called the manager cleared them. In June 2024 they gave me more new charges. In July 2024 I was threatened with my account going to collections. Come August 2024 they said it was an error and the charges were from Feb 2024 and they refuse to clear $28 balance that was somehow created 4 months after I moved away.

An elderly couple was disconnected - one of them on chronic oxygen. The couple receives total combined $1500 in retirement. **** would not reconnect until a $1800 bill was paid in full. The couple is getting billed a monthly bill of $800 for a double wide!! That alone is uncalled for. After paying $800 light bill, it would be leaving them only $700 for the remainder of the month - their rent is $800. Automatically in the negative outside of their control every month - the couple was trying their best to be able to live. The couple was never offered information of the ********** programs or the ******************* program. Per numerous managers over the phone, there was nothing that could be done - no payment plan agreements or any assistance given.Shameful.

Duke Energy is a monopoly for my area in ******* and absolutely couldnt care less about the service. A typical summer thunderstorm took out a local transformer. Because **** doesnt invest in infrastructure, that transformer took out 120 houses. **** says itll be tomorrow before we have electricity even though houses a block away are fine. The grid should be strong enough to divert power as needed. But NOT if Duke energy is maintaining the system. Must be nice to be a monopoly!!!
