I purchased an ARE truck cap from Leonards at ****************************************** on August 12th, 2022. Within 2 weeks I identified that the cap was leaking. After multiple attempts on 9/23, 11/15, 12/15/2022 and 4/6/23 by Leonards to repair including removing and reinstalling 2 windows it was determined that the cap should be returned to ARE. The cap was returned in October 2023. At that time, the then Leonard manager committed that if it still leaked after return from the manufacturer they would refund the price of the cap and installed accessories. Upon return from the manufacturer it was still leaking. Due to Leonards scheduling an my travel we agree that as soon as I returned in March, 2024 I would return the cap for a refund. During this interim period that manager was terminated and it appears my agreement was also terminated. I contacted Leonard and their solution is to return the cap to the manufacturer again. Now after multiple attempts, I am left waiting for at least a month without the use or the cap (again) an no alternative use my truck as intended. My desire is for Leonard to refund the purchase price to allow me to pursue an alternate solution.Customer Answer

Dear Leonard USA Management,
I am writing to express my profound disappointment and frustration regarding the mishandling of my recent order for a premium spray-in bed liner and truck bed cover for my new F150. My experience with your company has been a significant failure in terms of customer service, reliability, and professionalism.
I placed an order for your top-of-the-line bed liner and bed cover, totaling nearly $3,000, with the expectation of receiving exceptional service. I dropped off my truck on 12/19, fully expecting the bed cover, which I was informed had arrived early, to be installed the same day. I was explicitly assured that all necessary components would be in stock and ready for installation by 12/20.
To my disbelief, your company has failed to deliver on every promise made. As of now, my truck remains untouched, the bed liner uninstalled, and the truck bed cover is still not in stock, contrary to your assurances. Additionally, no estimate for the completion of this work has been provided, leaving me in complete uncertainty.
This situation is unacceptable. Leonard USA has not only betrayed my trust but also caused me significant inconvenience and stress, disrupting my holiday plans. I will now have to rent a vehicle to accommodate my holiday items, incurring additional unexpected expenses.
I am unwilling to accept this level of service from Leonard USA. I chose your company based on its reputation for professionalism, quality, and dependability, but this experience has been a departure from those standards.
I implore Leonard USA to take immediate action to rectify this situation. I demand a resolution and fair compensation for the inconvenience, distress, and added expenses your company has caused. I expect a prompt response to discuss how we can remedy these failures and ensure that no other customer faces such an ordeal with Leonard USA in the future.
I await your immediate attention to this matter.Business Response

We purchased a Leonard Shed from the store in ********, ******** on July 14, 2023. It was delivered to our house on August 21, 2023. We had some minor damage with delivery and the Mt. Airy staff visited the site to check on the shed. They felt the shed needed to be releveled and more supports placed under the double wide door entrance. It took until November 29 for someone to come and correct the issue. Along with our numerous calls to the store, I reached out to their customer service section of their website trying to find out why they advertise their sheds as being a certain dimension, when in fact they are less that what is advertised. No one has reached out to me with an answer. We ordered our shed based on the dimension in their brochures, we customized our shed and added extras, based on a floor plan supplied by them online. Upon delivery of our 12 x 16 foot shed, we measured the outside dimensions which includes the width of siding on the shed, and the shed measures 11'-3" x 15'-9". We feel that they are misrepresenting their products not providing the square footage that is shown on the marketing brochures. We paid for a 12'x16' shed, which I assumed was the inside dimension, but it isn't even the outside dimension, we received something smaller. I just felt like the whole size of the shed was misrepresented.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: We have contacted their customer service with no response and after contacting the BBB in December 2023, we received a response last week to contact their customer service so the issue can be resolved. I left all my contact information in the letter and with customer service portal. I feel this is an endless loop. They don't give me a contact person only a generic customer service portal to which they do not respond.Business Response

I purchased a trailer for my son to use in his business on May 2, 2023. On May 17, the tires blew while he was using it in Virginia. He purchased new tires for 1017.00 there. I went to the shop in Conway to find out that there had been a 30 day warranty. Both the manager (Curtis) and the assistant manager (Lindsey) assured me that we would be reimbursed for the tires if we sent them the invoice via email. There have been several assurances that "the check is on the way." We have not received any money as of yet. They did offer 400.00 or new tires, neither which fulfill their obligation. At this point we would just as soon sell the trailer back to them, but at the very least we expect them to honor their word and give us the complete reimbursement of 1017.00.Business Response
Date: 12/15/2023
We have spoken to the customer and have provided one of the two options based on their feedback: Leonard is willing to provide a $400 check OR give him 4 new tires and rims out of our inventory. Once the customer lets us know of his decision we will have accounting take care of the check or you can stop by the store and we will load 4 new tire and rims into your truck. If the trailer is still in Virginia, we will direct you to the closest Leonard store.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
The amount this business wants to pay is not correct. I am asking for the original amount of 1019.51, since that is the amount that was promised to us originally. I am asking for this company to honor their word, instead of backing out and changing the terms. I do not need new tires, since I paid for the new ones I have.Business Response
Date: 01/03/2024
The customer has been reached out to by our staff and provided the following update: Leonard is willing to offer a refund in the cost of $400, which is the value of our trailer tires or a store credit for the full amount the customer is asking for reimbursement.Initial Complaint

This complaint relates to the Leonard Building and Truck Accessories in ****** **** ********. I purchased a Leer fiberglass cap (Item *********** ****** *********) from them which they installed on the bed of a Ram pickup on February 8, 2023. In May 2023, I returned to the shop and showed them that the cap windows leaked, the connections to the truck bed leaked and the gate locking mechanism was broken. They agreed to make repairs but since then have only advised me that the parts are on order from Leer. This seems like an inordinate amount of time. There is no dispute over the repairs needed.
I paid $5000 for the cap and am only looking for timely repairs.Customer Answer

I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint.Complaint ********- On October 27 , Leonard Building and Truck Accessories of ****** **** ******** attempted to repair the leaking windows on the truck cap. It didn't work and they sent this note to LEER: "We replaced the windows on roger *******’s cap and they are still leaking we believe the window cut outs are to large serial number is ********. Unfortunately they are leaking worse now than before please let me know our options." I now believe a new cap is the only solution.

This complaint is actually for LEER and not Leonard. The product was purchased from a Leonard store. After waiting 3 months for parts from LEER, which the customer was aware of the product was repaired at the Leonard store of purchase. During the repair the store realized there was a factory defect, which we have been working with the customer to resolve. We have contacted LEER directly to get this addressed immediately for Mr. ******* with the expectation this is resolved within the next 1-2 weeks.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
The only choice BBB provides is to accept the response and close the BBB case or reject the response. So I must reject it until the situation is actually resolved. I am pleased that Leonard anticipates resolving issues with their supplier ( Leer) within the next two weeks. But I cannot yet agree to close the case.

I ******* ****** BOUGHT A TRAILER FROM LEONARD BUILDINGS IN ******** **. I WAS QUOTED A PURCHASE PRICE OF $3,689 AND APPLIED 761.39 DOWN. WAS THEN TOLD IT WOULD BE APPLIED TO THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE TRAILER. MY BALANCE WAS TOLD TO BE $2,927.61. I CALLED THE FOLLOWING DAY FOR PAYOFF. I WAS TOLD THE PAYOFF AMOUNT WAS $3,910. I ASKED THE REPRESENTATIVE ABOUT MY DOWN PAYMENT NOT BEING APPLIED TO DECREASE THE TOTAL COST TO THE AMOUNT OF THE PURCHASE PRICE, AS I WAS TOLD UPON PURCHASE. Mr. ****** purchased the trailer through **, an RTO finance company we partner with. He then went home, and the next day requested a pay out from them. When he saw that there were additional fees, he became upset and called in to the store. The store manager Robert then explained to him that he got a discount but there were additional fees with RTO. He then called into corporate where they put our District Manager in contact with him. During their conversation I tried to explain to Mr. ****** that with RTO there are fees, and his down payment did go toward the trailer but the fees were added per his agreement with **. He became upset and when asked if he would just like to buy the trailer out right he hung up the phone. Somedays later he called the store and stated that he wanted to just return the trailer and ** told him he could per his conversation with the store. We reached out to **, and they informed me that he had told them we said it was ok. Mr. ****** brought the trailer to our lot late one evening and just dropped it off. Legally the customer is still liable for the trailer with **, which will be processed as a repo. This is a disagreement between the finance vendor and the customer.

I am rejecting this response because:
The statement provided by the district manager is not true! I informed the store manager when I dropped the trailer off after ** Rentals management team instructed me too cause they have a copy of the invoice which I provided of a different amount due then what ** provided. ** Rentals management team also informed me that Leonard’s would not be funded for the trailer and that’s when I was instructed by them to return the trailer. I also informed the store manager when I arrived at their store that I was returning the trailer per ** rentals. And I still have not to this day received my $761.39 after they received their property back!! I was told by their store manager that the $761.39 was towed the price of the trailer and it was not. And that’s when I contacted ** rentals. I also contacted ** Rentals today September 25, 2023 @3:37 pm ET to confirm what the district manager response was to this complaint. And she stated that the trailer was not counted as a repo toward me as Leonard’s was never funded for the trailer. And the account #***** was closed out. NNPRCC is where they delivered two building. They know how and where we are located. We have been trying to get them to come back and stop water from entering through the front door and rotting out the floor. So far they either can't fix it or never bother to come back. We have given up on this. If they can't fix it either say they can't or just exchange or pick it up and refund out money.Business Response

In July of 2021 I purchased/ financed a shed through Leonard building at the M********* ** location. With the understanding that I had been approved & given my information on monthly amount due for 24 months I agreed to the purchase. I was given a receipt with purchase price of shed with additional items for shed & amount paid at date of purchase. The shed was delivered in about a weeks time. I received my first month invoice in which it gave me an option to set up auto pay, so I did. No other information was listed on the invoice but amount due, customer number and how to pay. Flash forward to April 2023. As I have gotten closer to my pay off date I decided that I would pay final amount off on shed early. I called to pay off remaining amount and was told I had signed a contract in which it would be rent to own and not financed, that it also was rent to own for 72 months and not financed for 24 months. Keep in mind no document I have ever received, receipt or monthly invoices, has ever indicated rent to own. I was then told I owed double what I had originally paid for shed. I asked the customer service rep to email me the said contract I signed. On receipt of contract by email I notice my name was electronically signed with date/time stamp with incorrect information listed. Best part was on the date and time I signed it I was also undergoing surgery with proof of time/date as well. When provided to local dealer, same guy who sold it, he couldn’t explain what had happened. Then I was told and given a general managers name who would call me, never called, called multiple managers with no return call until almost a full month later. Then I was told yeah I’m sorry but you signed the contract even though I provided a medical document showing I was intubated at the time of signing. To this day I have left messages for his boss and no reply! I’m over it! They must not know it’s a felony to forge a signature. Best part is I just want to pay off what I actually owe on it!Business Response

Multiple Leonard team members have spoken to this customer. The documents she provided and signed with us clearly state it is a rent to own agreement and states it is a 72-month term. Our RTO department made a reduced pay off offer to her as well and she refused to accept. RTO has documentation of all of her dates of contact and can provide more information if needed. We have attempted to remedy this situation with the customer with no solution accepted so far.Customer Answer
Date: 05/30/2023
I am rejecting this response because:
Leonard Buildings has made no attempt at resolution as documents have been provided to prove contract was no signed or ever provided to me as I have proof that at the time of electronic signing as I was intubated (artificial tube in airway for breathing) at the same time the documents were time stamped. The resolution that leonard finally offered after I spent 4 weeks trying to contact and yes I have every date of attempted contact as well, Brian W********* offered a payoff amount that was accommodating to them, not me. It was no where near a reasonable amount. The original purchase agreement was 24 months same as cash. Brian states that was never an available offer however Jimmy the Morristown store manager had it posted on the shed we purchased (and additional sheds) and as we finalized payment in which we were told we were approved for financing and what monthly rate would be. I have owned the shed and made payments for 21 months with payments of over $200 monthly and owe less than $1,000.00 and agree to pay a pay off amount of close to $3,000. So they are correct I did refuse offer and asked to speak with his manager Jeff Howel who has yet to contact me and it’s been 2-3 weeks of repeat attempts to contact him through his assistant Alan. So a forged contract with a customers signature is not a legal agreement or contract. This is one of the most dishonest businesses I have ever purchased through. Even customer services reps that I have spoken with through Leonard while I attempted to contact the above listed associates have said very similar responses. Either they have accidentally merged to customers information together or your name was esigned but it wasn’t you. Now with that said Brian W********* is an intelligent man so I don’t appreciate the run around when I have documents that prove otherwise. Im to the point im ready to seek a lawyer and they will not be concerned about a payoff amount as they should be worried about the charges associated with forgery. Documents have been provided to company and my part has been done. I would like to pay my correct advertised and agreed amount off and be done with Leonard.Business Response

4-8-23 ordered a leer truck cap 3,749.04$. I paid half to have it made. 5-16-23 paid remaining balance to have installed. The price included a ( leer 7 way harness int power) extra 129.99$ and a dome light was included in the package. I noticed that the dome light only came on when the vehicle was running. When I complained, I was told to fix the problem, that I would have to spend another 110.00$ to get the dome light to work like the rest of my truck lights do. I told the Leonard rep that it was not safe to unload cargo from the back of a running truck and he said to make sure that the truck was in park, very unprofessional when talking about life safety. For the amount of money I paid and the extra 7 way wire harness I purchased, the dome light should work just like the other lights that are in my cargo bed. I should not have to pay extra to have the light issue resolved. order# ********Business Response
