This company had the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. They continually dont pick up regularly then when you call cust service they tell you a different answer every time you callBusiness Response

I initiated my trash service with GFL on 6/2/2024 and paid the initial fee of $214.44. In the meantime we were still moving from another state so we did not start putting the trash and recycling to the road for pick-up until the week of 6/24/2024. As just moving in and still being on the go we didn't notice that our recycling hadn't been picked up for a month until the end of August. I then called *** the last week of August to report that the recycling had not been picked up. I was told they would research it and get back to me and that a supervisor would call me to discuss a credit to my account. I never heard back from anyone. The next week our recycling was picked up however, the trash was not. Then the following two weeks it was also not picked up. I then called on the third week it was not picked up and spoke to someone about the trash not being picked up. I explained to her that the trash needed to be picked up that day, she said they already completed their route and that would not be possible, I also told her I would need a credit for the weeks trash was not picked up. She told me that she would have a supervisor call me and that she would follow back up with me. I again never heard back from anyone. I then received a new bill for the next quarterly bill for $79.28 to be paid on 10/1/2024. I was not going to pay this bill until I received a credit. I then received a bill from a debt collector on 10/17/2024 for GFL for the $79.28 since the bill was not yet paid. I called today to follow up and they advised me that my bins were scheduled for pickup due to non payment. I explained to them that I have still not received a call from any supervisor to discuss a credit for services I did not receive in which I already paid for. She also explained to me nothing was noted in my file for missed recycling or trash and it had to be researched to make sure it was accurate however, previously they read the notes to me.Business Response

We have a security camera that catches their very shady behavior. One day they just chucked my non-GFL can into the truck garbage can and all and left, one day they intentionally crushed a non-GFL can with their claw after setting it back down, one day they just pushed one can out of the way and took the other can. Then, today they claimed to have come back by for the can they left behindno truck ever came. ****** reviews and BBB reviews say it all 1 out of 5 stars. Public Service Announcement: If you have had a garbage can go missing or damaged it isnt an accident. To be honest, I could have dealt with all this. But then they were not very nice to my wife. Then, when these issues were brought up to their 'manager' (*****), that is where the real corporate culture of this establishment shows it ****. They claimed the truck pushed the first garbage can out of the way for a reason. First can! Keep in mind this is the garbage can I wanted emptied first. First. So the explanation they started to give after that made zero sense. Honestly, I didn't listen too much because I knew it was going to get worse. They have forgotten their core business. I pay them monthly for pickup. Plus, two replacement cans for the ones they destroyed intentionally.Each can destroyed was $100-plus. Nice stuff it just didn't have their logo on the side.Business Response

This complaint is lodge on behalf of my elderly in-****, ************** *********. On October 17th, 2024, ***** was the second ****** of the couple to move to a nursing home. They had ordered a dumpster from GFL to be delivered on October 18th (Friday) so the relatives coming to help clean out the apartment on the Saturday, the 19th, would have it available. ***** their daughter had called a month ahead asking to reserve a dumpster. On September 20th, ***** called GFL's Hager City number and paid the full cost of the dumpster over the phone which was $672 (see uploaded bank account document). Address for this location is *******************************************************. At the time, GFL was instructed to call if something changes (not email) since ******* email is not always monitored.On September 18th, 2024, no dumpster showed up. ***** called at 3pm and was told by GFL that we were not getting a dumpster because they had ran out of "DOT" hours. They said they email *****. This put us in quite a pitch in terms of getting the apartment cleaned out before month end. ***** and ****** have a VERY limited income (social security only).The following week ***** (a different daughter) called to find out when ************** would be getting their money back. ***** was told 10 business days in the form which it was taken (It was ACHed or similar instant transaction). Since that time we have called multiple times asking for the money back. The last 2 times I called. Once on the 11-20-24 and I was told it would be ACHed back into their account the next day. This did not happen. I called again today (11-25-24) and was told they are "processing it" and it could take weeks. They also said they were cutting a check which suddenly is different than what they originally said. The time frame to get a refund has varied from 6 to 10 weeks depending on the particular call. This is totally unacceptable. All we wanted is a refund.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because this the same response we have heard for weeks with various timeline promises. They had the ability to take the funds immediately so they should have the ability to refund us in a day or two. We want actions not just more words.

I have been paying my trash bill for over 20 years. I have never missed a payment. They took my parents trash car at (*************************)) no reason. When I called them regarding the trash car being taken. I was told we took the trashcan from my parents house to get someone attention.Business Response

I recently moved and called to cancel my trash service with GFL. The billing is quarterly, since the new quarter has started, they stated that I wouldnt be reimbursed the months not using their service. I asked why, and was told because it was in a new quarter. So I didnt get an answer. I believe this is stealing.Business Response

According to ***'s cancellation policy, billing will not be prorated, and customers will not receive a refund if they cancel their service during an active billing cycle. Customers are responsible for all charges, fees, and taxes until the end of that billing cycle. If the customer has any additional questions, we will be happy to help.

At our home, we had a smaller recycle bin that we brought to our house when we bought it in 2016. We have used that smaller recycle bin many times over the past 8-years and it has never been an issue. The only time we put out our larger recycle can is when we have larger items for recycle.Last week, 11/15/2024, the recycle company took our smaller bin along with our recyclable items. On Monday, 11/18/2024, I called customer service and was told they would schedule for a bin to be sent back to our home to replace the one that was taken. I was specific that I did not need another larger can, just my smaller blue tote as this is what fits in our garage. On Tuesday, a very large green can was dropped at our home instead of the smaller blue tote. I called them back this morning (11/20/2024) and asked it they would come swap the can with a smaller tote and she said it was not "approved" for my area and that was why they took my tote. She then insinuated they only reason I had the tote was from the previous home owner. (We bought our house new!) When I told her it was our tote, she then said the only way they would replace the cost of my tote was if I presented them with camera footage showing their crew took the tote; she also suggested someone stole it from my street. I don't have camera footage - I saw it was gone seconds after they left my cul-de-sac!I get it, it is just a tote, but it was not theirs to take. We have used it for the past 8-years and they had no right to decide if I should be "allowed" to use it or not. Nor should she have gotten short with me when I insisted they just simply bring me another one; I don't care what my MUD "allows". It is a tote we kept in our garage for smaller recyclable items and they had no right to remove it from our property.Business Response

Every week, I break down the cardboard , as requested, and tie it up in a bundle and they consistently leave it. So it sits for another week, on my lawn, killing it. We pay a lot. Just pick up the trash like they are supposed to.Business Response

Just moved in to my house, contracted with *** to pickup my trash weekly. I have been in my house over 3 weeks and no sign of my garbage can. Every time I call its coming next week and it never does. My garage stinks from three weeks of garbage.Business Response

I had service with *** since 2015. I never had any problems with them. I always pay my bills on time. For some reason, we did not get the last bill. I never received a phone call, text or email indicating there was any issue because the trash was getting picked up regularly. On Monday November the 4th, they came to pick up the trash and they collected their container. At first, I was like, who stole my garbage can? Recently, someone had vandalized my car while at work, so mentally, I'm wondering if'm being targeted and all these thoughts come to mind. Had somewhat of a panic attack because I have a wife and small children. It was bothering me, and I needed to know who stole the garbage can? Come to find out, GFL took it because of nonpayment. I told the lady on the phone, I can pay the bill right now and get it taken care of. She proceeded to tell me that my account was closed, and I said OK, but then she wanted me to pay for services from November 4th to November 30th. I told her, you took your garbage can and close the account without my knowledge. I'm willing to pay for the time you guys provided the service, but I cannot pay for services that will not be rendered. She proceeded to tell me it was my fault. I did not pay the bill and, because of policy, the bill could not be adjusted. Then she told me that *** policy stated that an account gets closed at the end of a billing cycle, and they did not close my account at the end of the billing cycle. I told her they violated their own policy according to her statement and she told me she could not do anything. I requested the call to be escalated, and I was supposed to get a call within 48 hours from the supervisor and it has been 4 days. People are aware this company operate using deceitful practices. They lie, and they will blame you for the unprofessionalism.Business Response
