extreme dissatisfaction with the solar panel installation on my property. The installation has resulted in severe damage to both my roof and ceiling, including leaks, warping, structural issues, and sometimes when it rains, standing water on ceiling. This damage was not present before the installation and is a direct result of the installation process. I demand that the company responsible for the installation take full responsibility for the damages and promptly repair or replace the affected areas. this is an ongoing issue dated back to December 2023. i have reached out repeating with no resolve. as of recently June 2025. Lightening electric told the finance company that he will charge a service fee to come out but haven't answered any of my calls, text or emails. the company is now after more than a year shift the responsibility to it could have been the hurricanes. i am seeking Repairs needed 1.Fix and repair all the Solar panels on the roof 2.Paint ceiling , both upstairs and downstairs. No patch painting 3.Clean attic of mold and mushrooms.4.Install new insulation in the attic ( this couldve been prevented)it is now a hazard to my health. i also created a document outlining every conversation with dates. On march ******* i send Lightening electric a certified letter expressing my concerns and which he never responded. all my attempt have gone unanswered. Lightening electric did come out once to repair panels after a year of me trying to get them to come out. the installation was not properly done as to he and his crew isn't certified installers.resolution is to look into Lightening Electrical and Goodleap finance for they are all connected somehow.I had a case worker from Good leap *****, who has closed the case because in his words " Kevin stated that he will charge you a service fee to come out and i cant force him to come out so therefore i am closing the case. ***** didnt know what the ser charge was, told me to call LE for quote

I signed a contract on 11/27/2023 to have Solar Panels installed on my roof with a $400 incentive to go towards my first 3 months' payments. I never received that nor have I been able to get in contact with the sales agent of Lighting to get this resolved. The install date was 2/5/2024 but it was not operational till 3/15/2024 due to Lighting not providing the proper information to **** until I continually asked for it to be checked on. I now show my original contract with Lighting Electric as VOID on ******** after I had signed it and agreed to the terms. Overall I am very unsatisfied with the way I have been treated throughout dealing with this company.

As you can see their solar panels are producing very well

As far as $400 if he had an agreement with the sales person he needs to contact them

And with the delay with the power company we asked mulipable times for the updated insurance when he sent it we had done everything for the interconnect

We contracted with Lighting Electric in August 2023 to install solar panels and system on our house. It took them months to begin the job. On the day of install I noticed the equipment did not match what we contracted for and I had the installers only install the correct equipment. Another few months go by and finally in March, the company sends the correct equipment and installers on the same day at which time we paid in full for the contracted amount. Our system failed inspection because one of the boxes had already started falling off the house and they used wiring that is not compliant (romex). I emailed the company in April to fix the box and never received a reply. We hired a different contractor to fix that problem but Lighting Electric needs to correct the wiring so we can pass inspection and turn our system on. Upon emailing the report detailing the reasons for failed inspection the company is trying to charge us an additional $5,000. All we've wanted from them is a correct installation per the contract and a system that is operational. They need to correct the issues that led to a failed inspection.

The business is willing to go back to the consumer residents once the $5000, has been paid per their verbal agreement.  The business will resolve the issue.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 06/28/2024

I am rejecting this response because: there was no agreement to pay more than what we contracted for. Please let the business know we are seeking legal counsel and intend to *** them for reimbursement of electric bills for every month they delay correcting the is*** plus our legal fess because we should not have to go out of pocket to get what we contracted for.

Lighting electric installed solar panels on my home in June 2023. As a part of the contract they were to complete an application for the *********** solar program as seen in the uploaded contract. They completed the initial application. However, my only child became deathly ill and died soon after. As a result of his illness and death I missed an email from *********** and the application was cancelled. In December 2023 I realized I was not receiving the benefit in *********** that the panels should have provided. After speaking with *********** they explained what had happened and suggested I ask the installer to resubmit the application. I have been communicating with Lighting Electric since that time. In March I was told they would look into it. In April I was told it was completed. The next day *********** told me they had received nothing. They refuse to answer messages and calls repeatedly. I am simply asking that they resubmit an application they already have on file. Without that application the system is useless to me and they are very aware of this yet they continue to refuse to follow through or communicate with me. I am being told my only option is to pay another company to do the job Ive already paid them to do. Since June of 2023 I have been forced into early retirement due to medical reasons and now collect social security. I can not afford to pay someone else to do what Ive already paid them to do and I shouldnt have to. Any assistance that you can provide with this unreasonable company is greatly appreciated! My only other option is a legal one and I do not wish to do that but I may be force to seek legal assistance and damages.

Lightning Electric installed solar panels on my home first week of January 2024. Lightning electric stopped responding to calls and messages from us shortly after installation. They did not follow through to make sure we had a functioning system. They reported to the loan company that the system was installed and functioning, so the loan company disbursed the funds to them. Now, we are left with panels that do not work and a loan to pay. Lightning electrics main number listed goes directly to the owner, Kevins cell number. He does not answer it and does not return calls.

On Feb. 21st, 2023, I purchased solar panels that your Lightning Electric installed. Upon installing the panels, they were inspected by the ***************** and the inspection was denied due to too many solar panels on the front side of the home. I was advised that this information was stated in the Citys Building Codes before installation. Three to four months later, Lightning Electric returned to correct the issue. The extra solar panels were removed. Several months later, the ***************** returned for inspection, and solar panel installation was approved. On September 6th, 2023, the ***************** reprogrammed their meter as to where the panels would now provide the electricity and not the city. Lightning Electric was due to return to finish their part of the service so that the solar panels COULD provide that energy, but they did not. On September 10th, a call was returned by his receptionist, and I was advised to then just "flip" an outside switch to the on position. A month later, the electric billing statement costs did not change, so I continued to call to have a technician come out, no returns on my calls. I later received a text from Mr. *********************** This was on Sunday, November 12th, 2023. The text stated that a technician would be out tomorrow to check on the solar panels and the system. I informed Mr. ********************** that I was out of town and that I would be back that following Monday. He replied, ok, and we could reschedule later in the week. I have not heard from Mr. ********************** or Lighting Electric since. Unfortunately, I am frustrated and disgusted with the level of service and the intentional disregard of action NOT taken by Mr. ********************** and Ligtnigs Electric. Since May of 2023, I have been paying for the financing of this product where NO solar energy has been used on my *************** from the *****************, **. I just want the job done. I will pay the financing. You have been paid for the job. Now, can this product work for ME, PLEASE!?!?!

Lighting Electric sent a lady to my house that was selling solar panels. I took the bait and bought them. 64 solar panels on my house. I have no trees around my house, there full sunlight all year around. They installed the panels and Ive had issues with them starting not even a year after buying them. Im paying $448 a month for the panels plus my power bill thats anywhere from $300 to $800 a month. Then March 2021 the solar panels have not been reporting and I have called, emailed, called some more and cannot get in touch with Lighting Electric. I put in a ticket with Enphase, they cannot get in touch with them either. Enphase had me to contact 3 other solar panel installers that would not touch them or even come out to look at them because they didnt install them. Enphase told me that its not on them, its up to Lighting Electric to come and fix them but nobody can get in touch with them. The solar panels didnt even work for one year and Ive been trying to get them fixed for almost 2 years and I paid $70,000 for solar panels that worked one year. If you cant get in touch with the installer and the product does not work, what do you do? My roof leaks as well and Ive had to have that fixed. Everyone that I have contacted, all the way to the designer of the solar panels says that Lighting Electric is responsible but as of now, Im paying on a $70,000 product that does not work. I would greatly appreciate this being fixed or dealt with as soon as possible but I definitely would not recommend them to do solar panels or any other kind of work if they cant even get back in touch with their clients to help them get something that I purchased at a high price fixed.

    • They are working. It was a software update through Enphase that had to be done.

    Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: I feel like they should compensate me for the time that my solar panels were off because they neglected me, as a client by not calling me back and getting them back on. It took one phone call and they were back on. $10,304 is what it cost for 23 months of neglect.

Lighting electric installed solar panels in Feb 2022. In Nov 2023we discovered that the roof under the panels has had several leaks for a long enough time for mold to start growing in some of the spots. After initially notifying the company by phone, a crew was sent quickly to make repairs. Subsequent rainfall showed that at least one of the leaks is now worse than before, with rain flowing through the roof and the plaster ceiling below, puddling in the kitchen floor. Many attempts since to contact the company by phone have gone unanswered and no calls have been returned.

Friday, December 9th, 2022, my solar panel install was set to take place. I was supposed to work that day, but the gentleman I spoke to on the phone, when scheduling this date, told me they would reimburse me $250 for missing that day of work. I agreed. December 9th came, but it was raining. I had heard no information from anyone about the installation. I texted Cliff, my connection at the solar company, to inquire about where they were. He assured me they would get back to me, and that they would still compensate me for missing a day of work. After getting a call from someone about the installation, we decided that they would come the next day, Saturday, December 10th. The inspection was set for Monday, January 23rd. The inspector did not approve the solar panels, and that there were some things that needed to be fixed. Since that date, the inspection failed multiple times, and I had a hard time getting in contact with someone with the company for months. I finally do have a contact from Lighting Electric, but she has not responded to me in almost three weeks. I have been paying on these solar panels since March. $88 per month since then. I have ALSO been paying my regular electric bill. The point of the solar panels were to save money on electric, but I have been paying double for almost a year. This has been an over year long process that has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I would like to be reimbursed for the money I should have been saving. $250 for the missing day, and all of the electric bills I have paid since having my solar panels. I would be happy to provide billing statements if I need to. Thank you.

    • Her job is complete, and she has been texting with the sales representative. I have not agreed to reimburse her $250 for a missed work day. Her contract is to install solar panels, and no savings are guaranteed.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 02/14/2024

I am rejecting this response because: My job is not complete. I have never been able to turn it on. It has never been connected to my power company. I was chatting with the sales representative, but at the time that I submitted the complaint, I had not gotten a response from her in three months. I have heard from her since then however. My solar panels are STILL not in working order. Yes my contract is to install solar panels, but they have to be in working order to label the job as complete.

-The business will not be reimbursing her $250 for a missed work day. The consumer is good to go everything is ready she will need to turn on the disconnected switch. Her solar panel has passed inspection.
