When I contracted A policy from PM, In writing it stated my payment would never increase.
So now I know when never began. It was 2 weeks ago. PM made a point of telling me I was not singled out, which to me, means I was singled out with a bunch of other people, Other people I know who have PM their payment did no increase.Physicians Mutual Insurance Company

Thank you for your feedback. We would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you as we are not familiar with the circumstance you described. In general, rates are filed with the state and would be consistent with the provisions of the contract. Please contact us at 1-800-228-9100.Review fromMark K

These comments are written in regard to their ******** supplemental insurance. We have ******** approved plans. Physicians allows 2 years to internally change between ******** programs if another is preferred. I do not know of another company that allows this transition. We noticed that Plan F costs were rising faster than Plan G, so we decided to change one plan from Plan F to G. After some initial glitch in the transition process, we reached out to their Vice President of Policyowner Services. He immediately got the ball rolling and had a lead agent complete the process and followed up with a friendly phone call. Generally, the company has paid all our claims and has been friendly and responsive with their customer service. Their costs are reasonable and to date their annual increases have been modest. We did much research before selecting Physicians, so far the decision has worked for us. We are pleased with their service and their willingness to reach out to us and make thing work.Physicians Mutual Insurance Company

My Mom passed away on Thanksgiving day 2022 and she was in the hospital several times, and for long periods of time from Sept. 2022 til she passed. She missed 1 payment, because she was in the hospital dying and they penalized her over $9k! They said there was nothing they could do. So now her family doesn't have the money needed to pay the funeral home or purchase a headstone. ************************ She had the policy for almost 10yrs and now she is getting barely anything from them. I will make sure I don't recommend anyone to this company EVER. It's a racket and obviously someone there pocketed her $9k. I hope they can live with themselves for doing this to a deceased ladies family. Shame on you all!Physicians Mutual Insurance Company

Trust me, now I know better, after having some dental work done I received a copy of what this so called company will pay; which is nothing; because I was told my policy won't be in force after a year; and I need more work done; I guess I'll be making payments on my teeth; no one told me of this; avoid this company!Physicians Mutual Insurance Company

All dental plans with Physicians Mutual Insurance Company provide immediate benefits for Preventive Care. As noted in all advertising and in the policy, there is a one-year waiting period for Major Care. Basic Care Benefits may be available immediately or up to a three-month waiting period depending on the plan you selected. Our plans have no deductible and no annual maximum on the amount of cash benefits you can receive. Please call us if you would like to review your coverage.Review fromJonny F

If you're considering Physician's Mutual (PM) for dental insurance, STOP! This is a racket that will carefully and efficiently debit your account for your monthly premium, but when it comes time to providing benefits, they will do everything in their power to avoid and minimize what is fair. My dentist was a highly recommended "cost effective provider" on the PM website, who properly submitted a detailed description of services and provided x-rays after two visits that required deep cleanings. And as a result, PM determined that of the eligible charges of $958, only $38 would be covered. What???? My dentist alerted me of this and so I called the PM claims office. I spoke with Ashley and was told that the dentist did not submit all x-rays and that he should provide a detailed narrative as to why treatment was necessary, to explain in detail the extent of decay, trauma, bone loss (with percentages!) and to resubmit. I called my doctor back who insisted he'd provided a thorough report and all x-rays TWICE. So I called PM claims again and this time spoke with Reggie, who gave me the same spiel as Ashley. When I called my dentist again he reassured me he'd done everything as required, he's been a dentist for 35 years and it was obvious that PM was giving me a runaround. So before writing this review, I cancelled my insurance (which included vision) and I strongly suggest that anyone looking for insurance to cross Physician's Mutual off your list of potential companies. If I could leave ZERO stars I would.Physicians Mutual Insurance Company

As a company that holds a 95% customer satisfaction rating, Physicians Mutual takes customer feedback seriously. After receiving your comments, we conducted a thorough review of the entire claim history to ensure all eligible benefits had been considered. Although we cannot share the results of that comprehensive review in this response due to privacy concerns, we would be glad to share our findings with you and your dentist. Please contact your dentist to establish a three-way call with our claims department.Jonny F

Ridiculous!
When I initially saw this response, I did reach out to my dentist and asked him join on a 3-way call. Then when I heard him audibly SIGH on the other end, I realized that this was just another step that Physicians Mutual likely has imbedded in its playbook to make customers give up in their efforts to chase down denied claims, probably in a chapter titled DELAY! DENY! DELAY! DENY!
Why don't you simply increase the benefit and stop playing games?
By the way, when I cancelled my policy (12/7/22), the representative said that I'd be reimbursed the last premium payment that had been deducted from my bank account (on 12/6/22), and that I'd receive the reimbursement in 3-5 business days. But when I checked my account on 12/16/22, unsurprisingly it had not been reimbursed. So, I called customer service again, explained everything, and was told that I'd need to mail or fax a letter explaining everything.
My immediate reaction was "Are you kidding me?"
But I quickly reminded myself of who I was dealing with, and realized that none of this should be a surprise.
I mailed the letter today (12/26/22 - Merry Christmas!) so let's see what happens next.
Either way, this last step was just another in a series of bad experiences that only adds to a multitude of reasons to avoid Physicians Mutual insurance.

Our request to engage in a three-way conversation with you and your dentist is an effort to consider benefits that are not currently eligible based on what was submitted at this point. Regardless of your decision, Physicians Mutual always refunds unearned premium once a signed cancellation notice is received.Jonny F

"Our request to engage in a three-way conversation with you and your dentist is an effort to consider benefits that are not currently eligible based on what was submitted at this point." - So you want to talk about it and reconsider? What more can I or my dentist say or provide that already hasn't been submitted? If there are any more benefits, as there very well should be, than just pay them! Again, a scant $38 was all that was provided on a $958 bill!
And here's the latest update: I was stunned to see that Physicians Mutual deducted an additional premium from my bank account on 1/4/23. Forget that I cancelled verbally on a phone call nearly a month earlier, 12/7/22, before having to send a letter via snail mail to again cancel. So I phoned customer service yesterday, 1/5/23 and spoke with Rachel. After having to retrace everything and an exhausting back and forth, I was told that reimbursement checks have been cut and mailed (of course not for full amounts, they're screwing me based on when they received my letter and are pro-rating the reimbursement). Either way, I'm not holding my breath...but what more can I say except STEER CLEAR OF PHYSICIANS MUTUAL AT ALL COSTS. I'm certain you'll find better dental/vision insurance **********************Jonny F

The saga continues...I was promised a reimbursement on my last phone call which was January 5, 2023, at which time I was told that two (2) checks had been processed and mailed. Today is February 1, 2023 and I've yet to receive anything. So I called customer service yet again, was received by Dalton, an extremely unpleasant and cranky automaton. After rehashing the history, we realized that the checks were mailed to a wrong address. No, I'm not kidding...So now PM must send two letters via snail mail, one for each check issues, I'll have to check a box on the forms they send and then send them back, also via snail mail.
None of this is surprising and the takeaway is that aside from being an untrustworthy racket that will never fulfill your insurance needs or expectations, Physician Mutual is also inept. That's a shameful combination for an insurance company, to be both dishonorable and incompetent. Again, STEER CLEAR OF PHYSICIANS MUTUAL AT ALL COSTS!Review fromBinny L

They canceled my policy (dental) and said I did not pay my premium. They did not credit me for August, September, or October of 2022. I was in a home for care from covid and my daughter was taking care of my finances. She received three checks from a company called **************, payable to me for the amounts of $53.90 which were my payments for the above amounts. The checks said "Apply to account XXXXXXXX which was my account, but were payable to me!
I called the physician's company once to try and get this straightened out, and they told me it was all taken care of! I received a notice late on the 15th of November that I was behind and called them again on the 16th and was told my policy was canceled and that I could not pay it up to date, I would have to open a new policy. Major and extra coverage would not be available for the first year! I originally had this policy for almost two years before, but Due to illness, I could not ever use it! Customer service was like talking to a brick wall.
I would avoid this company if at all possible!Physicians Mutual Insurance Company

I am considering PM dental insurance, and cannot find the list of 350 covered procedures online, as PM states in one of their responses below. When I called to request the list of covered procedures, I was told that they only give the list out AFTER you sign up for their insurance. Also, PM does not give enough information to evaluate how benefit are paid out. Are the stated amounts of coverage per procedure, or for the entire year.Physicians Mutual Insurance Company

I paid into positions mutual for over 2 and 1/2 years while I save money for my portion of the upcoming bill after having a procedure to have all my teeth removed and have dentures made the provider and physicians mutual gave me a predetermination that they would pay $2,600 toward the $10,000 that the cost would be which is way below what I was instructed that they would cover once the procedure was done and I paid almost $8,000 I got a bill from my provider for another $1,400 but instead of physician's mutual paying $2,600 like they predetermined that's the price they determined they only paid $1,140 after a lot of double talk that's all they paid they paid less than half of what they said they would cover and now I have to work out an arrangement with the provider for the balance that they did not cover if you are looking for a provider for dental coverage stay as far away from physicians mutual as you can they use a third party provider to pay all their bills and when you try to get through to the third party provider they just tell you you have to talk to the insurance company when you call the insurance company you tell them you have to talk to our third party provider because they pay the bills just another company ripping people off when you have the provider any insurance company actually take a week to come up with a predetermination of what they pay and then they come up and they only pay 35% of what they say they'll pay something is wrong whatever physicians mutual tell you they cover a wide variety of services and they cover most of the cost that is a lie they covered barely 10% of the total cost I paid more in premiums then I got in service coverage so when you see physician's mutual and they tell you we cover everything you need done go running the other direction service that I got it afterwards trying to settle this account was even more disgraceful than the lies they tell you about what they'll cover they send you to their third party provider .Physicians Mutual Insurance Company
