This morning, I was contacted by a case manager, and I was deeply dissatisfied with the call. Rather than genuinely addressing the issue, It felt more like an attempt to convince me than an effort to genuinely assist. When I initially purchased the warranty, I was assured that the product would either be repaired or replaced in the event of an issue. However, I have recently been informed that the replacement value offered is based on the wholesale price , which I do not have access to. In contrast, I am being required to purchase the replacement at retail prices, which are higher than the wholesale price. I believe the company should purchase the replacement item at the wholesale price and send it to me, as this would result in no additional cost to the company. Furthermore, I was presented with the option of receiving a check to purchase a replacement myself, but the amount provided would only allow me to buy a used product, which is not an acceptable resolution. I find this situation to be disrespectful and disappointing.

They are constantly denying claims now that they are under Choice Home Warranty. Its a total scam. Things like plumbing issues they are denying. It takes forever to send out a tech and swap out an appliance it takes more than 30 days. They used to be reliable but now its not.

On January 22, 2025, I filed a claim for my refrigerator. It is a ******* deluxe model with an ice maker, water dispenser, and soda maker. Home Warranty of America sent out a technician three times to repair the refrigerator. Despite the tech noting the refrigerator was unrepairable, the fixes continued. On February 18, 2025, it was decided that I can get a replacement refrigerator. The case managers ******* ***** and Jade, worked with us to get full replacement value from the original $984 that was quoted to us. With an approval for $1,548 from *****, we were ready to move forward since I have hundreds of dollars of food spoiled and living out of a cooler. I accepted the ***** pay out but no card came. I called on Feb 19 (the next day) to note my LOWES card was not received. I was told by another case manager, ********* **** (ext 4347), my card would take another three weeks to receive!!!! Mind you, I have been without a refrigerator for almost a month and now asked to wait another month before I can proceed. I tried to file an official complaint, and was told they would document my displeasure but no follow up would be rendered since Home Warranty of America does not have a process for that. I have never in my life heard of no customer satisfaction follow up when complaints are registered. When I purchased this warranty, it was not owned by Choice and a separate entity. I had no issues at all! From the time it was purchased by Choice warranty, my husband and I have had issues. The whole game is to patch up as much as possible and no replacement with the customer suffering for a long period of time. No accommodation for all the food spoiled or anything! I want this resolved asap and the courtesy to have someone call me back with an apology. I will be discontinuing this agreement ****. ****** and ****** ****** policy number #IL03-SA01733552

I usually dont write reviewsI have a very busy life and dont have the time. But I feel I need to write this to warn others: If youre thinking about joining Home Warranty of America (HWA), run. If you value your money, dont waste it here. If youre already a member, try opening a claim and see for yourself how they operate. This company is unethical, rude, and completely untrustworthy. They do everything they can to avoid fixing problems while still taking your money. They make false promises, send out unqualified technicians, and delay claims endlessly. Its a scam.I opened a claim in December for a simple leaking toilet. My husband and I are both handywe built a house ourselvesso we already knew the leak wasnt coming from the toilet. But since we had a warranty, we figured wed let the experts handle it. That was a huge mistake.Over the course of two months, HWA:Changed my claim three times Charged me $85 per visit for different technicians Had the technicians remove the toilet and shut off our hot water Left my parents without a toilet or hot water in -19F weather Kept transferring my calls to different departments with no answers Never informed me that my claim was deniedthey just kept stringing me along The technicians they sent were unprofessional and unqualifiedpeople I would never let into my home if I had a choice. They all gave different explanations for the issue, and not one of them actually solved the problem. For five years, I paid $275 a month for two properties, and the one time I needed them, they completely failed me. They took my money and gave me nothing in return.I am writing this so that others dont make the same mistake I did. Stay far away from this company. If they respond to this review, dont believe a word they sayits just more lies. Home Warranty of America is a scam.

Horrible Service- Rip off In 2018, *** had a furnace installed in my home by an **** company they contracted with. This led to major issues requiring expensive repairs. Despite paying deductibles for years to address these issues, I reported the problem again in 2024. An **** technician, contracted through ***, determined that the furnace was improperly installed and needed to be replaced. When I submitted the claim, *** informed me that my policy would not cover the repairs because the company had changed ownership. All prior claims repaired by *** were voided, despite the name remaining the same. I was not notified of this change, which is unacceptable.I was advised to write to the corporate office after speaking with ****** *. When she received a reply back from the **** tech, the repair was estimated to cost $5000. My claim was rejected, offering me only a goodwill gesture of $600, despite paying for the service for 8 years. After checking on my letter, I was told on 1/7/25 that a letter to the corporate office is only for feedback. This company is a joke. I still have not received a reply from the corporate office, so I am left with no heat and no resolution.I have all receipts for every repair and submitted them to ***, but they claimed to have no record. It feels like I was just giving my money away. *** leaves me no option but to take the $600. Why have a corporate office if it's only for feedback? If the corporate office is reading this review, you should be ashamed of yourself! While ****** is living in *******, I am having to run heaters in single-digit weather.

They are a rip off, they only pay 50% of claims submitted and the ones they do pay are only partially paid. Most people complain about them and do not like them and feel the same way as I do. So why is it a tool used in real estate and elsewhere? We are requiring sellers to purchase this and buyers then try using and it doesnt work. It is not timely and you are out 2x times the fee it costs to get someone out if the claim is denied. There is no peace of mind as they say they are selling. Its just a way to get our money twice and for them to make money with their farce of claims. So when so many feel this way and they have many complaints and lawsuits why are they still around? How can the American people unite to get rid of them? I bought a house, one was included with the sell and within the first 3 months I have already had to use them multiple times and both times it was pointless. The first time a non working microwave on a house that mind you is only ten years old. The microwave is no longer made and parts are not available so they do a buy out and include the $ 100 I had to pay for the claim to get someone out here. In the end what was offered was not even enough to replace it. The second claim a freezer at 1 year of age, stopped working, denied because it is not covered according to them and it was not normal wear and tear. Its a freezer, never been moved and holds items to freeze, the wear and tear consists of freezing and opening and closing the door. How is that anything but normal? Whats not normal is it not working at a year old. What the repairman said was it needed Freon. I asked if that was normal and he said it can be. How many of you have ever had to do that for any of your freezers? I am 55 years old and have never had to do it, and I believe the oldes one I had was about 15. I think something is awry wouldnt you say? Anyway, Americans lets band together to rid ourselves of all the users out there!

This agency fully deserves their 1 star rating. Their customer service workers sound like robots, give scripted responses, vague answers or no answers at all, or total misinformation. They didn't even give consistent responses to simple questions, such as hours of operation. For example, I was promised my plumber would receive a call back from the purchasing department within 24hrs, and come to find out, the purchasing department wasn't even open. I kept track of every inconsistency, miscommunication, or lie, and reported it to my case manager. I have the recorded phone call. We didn't have hot water for nearly 14 days. In the dead of winter. With 2 young children in the home. The plumber assigned to the claim came out immediately the day after our water heater broke, and he took photos to confirm we need a new water heater. Ever since then, it was a battle of persistently calling this agency to check the status of where my new water heater is. There was, of course, no way for a case manager to get ahold of a tracking number, just expected delivery dates (which changed a couple of times). The plumber assigned to the claim even reached out to them, calling them unprofessional and filing a complaint. This company is a total scam. We finally got our new water heater yesterday, after house hopping at family members' houses to take warm showers, bathe my children, clean some dishes and laundry, etc for 2 weeks. I wouldn't recommend this company to ANYONE.

I can canceled my policy at the one year. I have now received a phone call every other day for 2 months, from Home Warranty of America, asking me to renew. They call from a different number every time, so hard to screen. Every time I plead with them to stop calling, and that no matter what I am not going to renew. I am assured to be taken off the calling list, only to receive ongoing calls. There is option to actually removed from the near daily calling list. Please stop.

My "Maytag PGR5710BDW Performa" range oven's bake mode stopped working on Nov 27th, 2024. I submitted a claim to the company regarding the issue. I also paid an additional $100 for the service visit. After the diagnosis, they decided to replace the entire range oven, saying the replacement cost was lower than the repair cost. In lieu of replacement, they offered me funds in the form of a ****** eGift card. However, purchasing a range oven with similar features and capacity is impossible using the replacement amount of $338.00 they offered in the eGift card. When I called them about the insufficient amount, the case manager told me that the amount they offered was based on their available wholesale cost. First, they didn't inform me about their wholesale cost before starting the contract. More importantly, the main problem is they offer a retail company (******) gift card based on a wholesale cost. So, they doomed me to purchase a range oven using this gift card from ****** where there is no range oven at this price. If this isn't a scam, what is?

Be wary of this company! It is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau for a reason.************Our heating furnace went out this past month and is a covered unit under the Platinum Coverage plan we have. The technician that was assigned to evaluate the unit noted the part that needed to be replaced. Despite the first line of our coverage stating that any part that makes the unit inoperable will be covered, based on a technicality of wording under "not covered' parts and the verbiage the technician used, this company denied our claim and are now having to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket or be without heat during the coldest month of the year. When I attempted to appeal the denial, the case manager said that I was "picking and choosing" my words and that no matter what I said, it wouldn't be covered, even though my unit is inoperable.***************Highly disappointed in this company and the outcome for a critical unit for our house. Be wary and tread lightly.
