I wish I could give them a zero star. Total SCAM. Take your money but won't help with anything. Our AC unit wasn't working in ******* IN JULY! They didn't fix any of the problems it had. **************** don't help at all. Zero star.

You can read all about the incompetent, off-shore claims team from other reviewers, but I want to warn you of something more sneaky that this company does to fraud people out of their money.HWA has been reaching out to get me to renew my policy as it is set to expire this year. I have already notified them via phone that I am not interested. This morning, I received an email from HWA that states the following:"Thanks for your continued loyalty. As you know, your coverage will be expiring soon. To make things a lot easier for you, we've placed your Home Warranty of America on Monthly Auto ******* so you don't risk an unintended lapse in coverage just when you might need it most.We will simply charge the credit card you have on file with us each month on in the amount of $58.33, so you never have to worry about remembering to renew your plan and avoiding unexpected costs. Subsequent charges will occur on the of each month."This email was sent as a newsletter blast from the address enews[@]hwahomewarranty.com. Meaning, if I unsubscribed from their email list, I would not have received this email, which leads me to believe that this notice is meant to appear real, when it is not. And, the landing page of all links (including the one labeled "To opt-out of autorenewal - click here") is actually their ******* center page which opts you INTO an auto-renew plan.See page here: https://my.hwahomewarranty.com/opt-out/amr/index.php This is meant to mislead the receiver of this email into opting-in to an auto-renew policy, which is scammy and misleading behavior.

1 Star is TOO MUCH! Company representatives are rude, condescending, and not helpful. Company takes over a week to assign technicians despite their claim of finding and provided technicians within 24 hours. Major appliances such as the ** Unit, they only cover MINIMAL amount, does not cover components or parts. Worst company on the planet!

I've had 2 recent issues with this company, after being a customer for 3 years.First issue: A/C went out in May, they sent a repair man who identified a leak, however unit should be replaced. They would only recharge and fill the unit with freon. Less than one month ago, it went out again and they said, after 10 days of back and forth, they would replace it but had to find 'a unit'. We were without A/C in his hot sweltering summer for three weeks! Second issue: My dishwasher went out the electronic panel. They said they would replace it and offered me $246. I had to get a dishwasher and it cost $900. they gave me the run around about why they could do only $246 and offered to send me a check. I'm done with them. So I call to cancel my policy and the 'resolution specialist' said, ok fine, I'll cancel your policy today as you wish but that means your check is canceled too! Like really??? The customer service people are awful, the service is awful, and once I get my measly little check for the *** they will be history.

This company is a total scam. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE! Ive had this service for many years and like most people we feel its nice to have some security with our homes for unexpected problems. All my employees at my firm have HWA and we recommend it to future home owners. NEVER AGAIN. On two separate occasions when I put a claim in, they said they wont cover my claims and say they dont cover consequential problems. In other words, they insinuate that you caused the problem / damage and they wont cover the service repair. Basically when there is a problems that has wear and tear from normal use, they mean it was caused by customer intervention. So what that means is you went in there and tinkered with it or did something and thats why it broke and now its not covered. Im ****** as h*** I had an HVAC issue and when the tech came out and I was with him the whole time. He showed me whats wrong. Never did he show me what HWA is saying caused the problem. He gave me a report to have as a copy. HWAs internal policy is probably to go in and find any part that could break thats not covered under warranty and say that is the cause. That way they dont have to pay to fix it. They companies find sneaky ways to cover their ***** so us as the consumers just accept it for what it is. Save your money. Youre better off just paying to fix your problems because the $100 you pay when the tech comes out is only for them to look at the problem. They dont fix anything . You pay the $100 and they then later they send you a nice long email telling you theyre not covering your claim. Its a total money grab. The best part is I tried to appeal their claim and set up a phone call. They called me and asked what questions I had. I had no questions I wanted to know where they came up with this bogus report. So basically there is no appeal process. Save your money dont get HWA!! I cancelled and we are no longer recommending this scam company.

Such fraudsters. Don't know why they are allowed to continue in business! Three claims, none paid. First, **** unit. Bad heat strip. Tech they sent says HWA will not cover. Offers to replace unit for $20k. Bait and switch, anyone? I call a few other companies and replace the **** and ductwork (all necessary). Two weeks later, HWA tech calls and says claim is approved. Really? For what work? No word from HWA regarding this claim. Second claim: pool service. First tech - doesn't do leak detection. Second tech: doesn't do leak detection. OOh, but wait, for the $100 service call fee, I'll show up. Third tech: No takers. Third claim: Plumber for HWH issues and plumbing issue in kitchen. Guy shows up (note: NONE of their techs come in company trucks!). Says nothing wrong with HWH. Looks at kitchen sink. Response: Sounds like a plumbing problem. My response: And.....you're a plumber? His Response: Laughter. Takes my $100 and leaves. Pay another plumber $200 to snake the drain. HWA assigns a "personal claims manager." Sure she is. The phone number she left does not get me to her. HWA gives me a new number to enter extension. That number says the extension is invalid. Try responding to email: Bounces back as not valid. Filing a complaint with ******* **** of ******** Services. Ridiculous waste of money, not to mention time. Their "techs" show up or not at their pleasure. Meantime, I'm taking time off work to be available for the service call. So far, for an $800 complete warranty package, I've spent $300 in service call fees and $24k in repairs HWA ignores. Need to be run out of ******* and every other state.

This is heading to the ******* ************************ for my Complaint. There is no reason a company that represents insurance protection like this should have this poor service and not check the vendors they send out.

If I could give it ZERO STARS, I would. I had a problem with my AC this morning. Nearly 5 hours later, there is no word on someone taking my claim on. I called to see if there was any way to get seen soon as it is 90F in the house. I did not get a friendly reception from any of the agents I spoke with...additionally, I received sarcasm and mocking from them. I immediately canceled my claim and then tried to cancel my contract. Again, I am met with an agent wanted me to be educated on the coverage I was dropping, insulted my intelligence, provided more sarcasm and dissatisfaction with my request and then - WAIT FOR IT - THEN SHE HUNG UP ON ME! I am very upset that I spent two years with this company. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY ON A COMPANY THAT CARES ZERO ABOUT THEIR CLIENTS! RUN...RUN FAST...DO NOT GO INTO CONTRACT WITH THIS HOME WARRANTY COMPANY. BELIEVE THE LOW RATING, DESPITE WHAT SOMEONE MAY BE TELLING YOU!

Dont buy any service from this company. They are scams. I called Home Warranty of America (HMA) to set up a claim to fix my range hood . When we were on the phone, I asked the service representative to doubt check on my warranty coverage to make sure the Range Hood was covered. And she confirmed that this is indeed the case more than once. Then I proceed to confirm the claim and paid my $100 service fee. After the inspection, the technician confirm that the Range Hood need to be repaired. However on that same day, I received a notification from HWA stating that Range Hood is not covered. before I file this claim over the phone, I confirmed with their service representative that Range Hood is indeed covered by my warranty policy. They admitted that the customer representative provided the wrong information, hence leading to my $100 service call fee that would be a waste in the first place. However they still refused to refund me the service fee. This entire process is a scam.Collecting the premium is not the end, trying to extract more from their customers is what they are trying to do.

If I could give them negative stars I would. This company is the absolute worst at service. After months of my refrigerator being out and over 5 technicians coming to my home for them all to say it needs a special order part which they can't receive. Now black mold is growing in it because it can't get repairs. Home warranty of america still refuses to replace it. We can't even rent a temporary one without that replacing our coverage for the broken one that they won't fix! After the last repairman sent in a request to have it replaced they reasigned us to a new freaking vendor. Do NOT get HWA. They do not care about any claims or requests. You pay them to not receive service, even when its a health hazard. They care about themselves and their money hungry pockets. PATHETIC.
