  Ordered from BooksXpress through AbeBooks.com. I had ordered a "new hardcover" and they sent a paperback. Normally not a big deal, but I had shopped around extensively to find a hardcover copy, and paid substantially more than other sellers because I anticipated heavy use with lots of schlepping around in my bag. The book was damaged in transit so what I received was a damaged paperback (the likes of which were available online for far less than I had paid). I reached out to ask if they could send the version I'd ordered. They said the book is not available in hardcover (as in, it doesn't exist) and said that if I wanted a refund, I could mail it back to them at my own expense. I'm not a vindictive person, but I thought it would be worth logging the experience here in case it can spare someone else the grief.

  I have the same experience as "al h" and "******* ". I ordered a book for academics, and after 3 weeks, the book never gets delivered. The first time, they gave a tracking # which is incomplete. After 2 attempts to reach out to them, they update the order with a complete tracking #. The second tracking # is valid and complete but does not provide me with any information regarding where my item is. I messed up the start of a school year, and I had to rent the book to help my child get started. I wish I had read the reviews before ordering. Such a waste of time and money.

  what is on this page is what the company is about - I have ordered a book though *** books (amazon) and the seller was booksxpress - and they say the book is shipped and yet - they provide NO tracking number - so I have no way of knowing where the book is - and no one from either place will respond = because they are those people they call quiet quit people - you know they go to work but do nothing or the least that they can do - hey everyone who reads this in the future I want to tell you - if they don't get the book to you in certain amount of time - you can go to your bank and get a charge back - where your bank goes into the companies money and takes your money back - it is a free service and if you have stress from dealing with the customer service people who are only window dressing and placating bumper pool individuals - it's better to just wait the required time usually a month and then do the charge back if BBB cannot resolve the issue - sometimes these places care about BBB and do really try hard to fix things - but sometimes they don't care - and just wait for the next victim to innocently fall into into their buy trap - which is you are honest and you assume others are honest too but instead they just steal from you and figure you're not smart enough or you just forget - or its just not worth the 20 bucks they took from you to do anything about it - *** books uses many third party market places for these books and most are honest and then there are those that are not and it seems in my opinion that *** books does not really clean up their clutter which is a shame because they could get a really good reputation in a great market and the name *** would mean something positive instead of being a stressful thought as you order a book you really would like to have in your library. Ya for me Booksxpress is pretty much a bummer - and even if I get the book I will not enjoy it now because BooksXpress as spoiled the whole buying experience - sad to say.
