1 starIf I could star a zero I would. I started my plan with select home warranty March 26th 2022. I was told by Sol that I would be able to utilize my insurance 100% in 30 days which would have taken me to June 25th of 2022.
I opened a claim for my refrigerator July 27th 2022 , well over 60 days from the day I started my plan and we’ll past 30 days of the 30 waiting period.
So I open a claim and select home warranty sent out an appliance company and they assess my refrigerator and stated on the invoice for my $75.00 stating that I needed the condenser replaced.
Two days later select home warranty emailed me and said that I am not covered and that I can’t file a claim between the 30 grace period from starting my insurance plan.
So I called because at this point I’m thinking it’s a mistake. I got someone in the phone that I could barely understand named Keith and he told me that I could not have any appliances replaced before the 30 days were up. I tried explaining to him it’s been over 60 days. Keith then said that I can have parts replaced but not whole appliances. I then explained to him that that’s why I’m calling because I just want my condenser replaced as it states on the invoice. Keith then said that I couldn’t even have parts replaced right now.
I don’t understand. I paid my balance in full when I started with this company and now I can’t use my insurance 60+ days after I paid my money?
I then asked to speak with a manager and Keith said their all in corporate meetings.
I don’t understand why Sol told me I can use my insurance 30 days after I started with them
I don’t understand why, if my account was not active that select home warranty would still send out a contractor and have me make a co pay if I can’t even use my insurance
It doesn’t make sense one bit. None of it
This is the worst experience I’ve had with a company in a long time. This was a bad experience and is a bad experience for me and my familyReview fromMichael H

1 starEverything about this company is a scam. They will do everything in their power not to reimburse you for your claim. If you are lucky enough to get reimbursed, it is for a fraction of the cost. If you supply maintenance records to back your claim, they will find a reason not to accept them. They will constantly move the goal post so you can never get your money. Stay away from this company at all costs.Review fromBob F

1 starMY STAR RATING IS -5, BUT THEY DON'T OFFER THAT! BIGGEST RIP-OFF COMPANY OUT THERE!! RUN AWAY!!
1. They cover the cheap parts of everything they cover, not the expensive parts.
2. We pre-paid $1,875.00 for 5 years of coverage and we were told, at any time, we could ask for a refund and we would get a refund for the unused portion of the warranty. We submitted 2 claims over the 1st year and both were denied, even though "cover" water heaters and central air units. So we cancelled our policy.
3. With 365 days in a year X 5 years equaling 1825 days. We had the Policy for one year and 14 days, that equals 379 days of coverage. The cost was $1,875.00 for 1825 of coverage, simple math comes to $1.03 per day. So $1.03 per day X 379 days of coverage equals $390.37 of coverage that we used. That leaves 1446 unused days of coverage at $1.03 per day, or a total of $1,484.63 of unused coverage that we should get for a refund.
4. They are giving us $1.275.35.
5. Every time we call to speak to a manger about it, they say, "We don't use the customers numbers to calculate the refund, we use our own numbers".
Biggest rip-off company out there! Stay away! BETTER YET, RUN AWAY!!!Review fromPrabhakar K

1 starSelect Home Warranty (SHW) is the WORST company for after sales services that I experienced.
On July 21, 2020 the salesman pushed me to purchase a Platinum Care policy with Executive VIP membership coverage at a discounted price of $1425. He said that it covers everything for 3 years and maintenance records are NOT needed for the service. In addition, after initial 1 mo wait period, the policy covers for additional 6 mo free. Thus my policy is valid until Feb 20, 2024.
So far my following claims were rejected sating not covered:
1. Main water pipe leak on 12-25-2020,
2. AC Humidifier water dripping. For this I filed claim on 7-31-2022, Claim#0226686. Got an email asking me to call SHW, I did on 8-2-2022. A heavy accented and difficult to understand outsourced Rep Francis (?) in Phillipines said, she could not find that claim and asked me to file a new claim. I said I have the SHW email confirming that claim#. She then put me on long hold and confirmed that the backoffice has my claim, but somehow her system not showing the claim#. Finally she retook the claim and assigned a new claim#0226828.
On 8-3-2022 SHW emailed me saying that it is not covered.
3. On 10-26-2021 SHW regarding my garbage disposal unit not working claim#01963821, emailed me saying that the cost to repair the garbage disposal exceeds the unit's current value and offered a cash settlement of $75. I ended up paying $182 on my own to get a brand new garbage disposal and installation fee.
All these confirm low premium bait and then reject even simple so called covered services as "NOT COVERED" with one excuse or other.
Therefore, I emailed SHW on 8-3-2022 to cancel my policy and refund the balance to me per the written agreement.

1 starI have had experiences with 3 major warranties, and by far, Select Home Warranty has been the worst.
I have called for service at one of my investment properties, and explained the issue the best I could as related to by my tenants.
This company DENIED me a service call BEFORE even understanding what the issue really was.
Stay away from this company. They are just miney-grabbers and do not even bother to provide you with a minumum level of service.Review fromAaron M

1 starMy clothes dryer has been nonfunctional for three weeks. They sent out a technician to inspect (technician is great) and he said a part needed to be ordered. The part was ordered but was practically falling out of the box when it arrived. The tech told me he didn't trust the part and he was going to advocate to have the unit replaced. When I called SHW today they told me that the unit couldn't be replaced because they made repairs. When I informed them that the repairs did not work, as the dryer is still broken, they told me they would not approve a replacement. They could only send out the technician again. I do not recommend this company at all. Their customer service is an overseas call center and they can't do anything to actually help. SHW is a joke.Review fromEd S

1 starSelect Home Warranty claims that they will line up service providers. On 2 different claims they were unable to provide a contractor, I had to arrange for the service myself. At the one-year anniversary I called to opt out of the contract. They said they would have to recover any claims paid out in that first year as a cancellation fee. I ended up getting about a 50% refund on a 5 year policy cancelled after one year.Review fromCheri M

1 starThis company is a fraud. They don't honor any service requests to their PAYING customers. I have filed 3 different claims for different problems in my home that, by all rights, should be covered but they tell me something different every time. This last claim was about the door on my 8 year old, GE refrigerator. The hinge on top of the door, that holds it on, has come loose and one of the screws has fallen out. I have to lift the door a little to get it to close. It won't take much more of this before the door comes off completely. I believe this is due to 8 years of opening and closing the door but Select Home Warranty says it is NOT normal wear and tear and I am on my own to find a repair person! If it isn't, normal wear and tear, then I would like to know what they consider normal wear and tear for a refrigerator door! This is not how I expected a home warranty company to act toward problems that should be covered, not just told that it is not covered by the warranty they got paid to honor! The company should be closed down and the leaders of it put in prison for blatantly scamming people who put their money and trust into their company. They do not plan to fix or replace anything! It is a huge scam! I am so pissed I can't see straight!

1 starThis is my experience and your mileage may very.
This is the WORST company out out there. They don't pay the contractors and I have had 3 cancellation for service and waited over a week to get any resolution and now they are saying you go find someone to solve the problem.
If I had to find someone on my own why do I need home warranty?
My opinion is stay away from them you can do SO MUCH better with other companies. I feel they are fraud and considering filing a lawsuit. ( I smell a class action )
