I purchased a 2023 Maserati online on January 11, 2025 from Monmouth Maserati. The vehicle was delivered on January 15, 2025. After driving it for less than 10 minutes, the car began smoking, backfiring, and the check engine light came on. I immediately contacted the company and sent them photos and videos of the problem.
The vehicle was picked up on January 20, 2025 and taken in for service. I received no updates for over a month and had to visit the location in person in March to get any information. They attempted to offer me a lower model vehicle with more mileage as a trade-in, which I declined.
On June 13, 2025, I was told that the car needs a new engine and that I would be financially responsible, despite the vehicle having a 50,000-mile warranty through Maserati corporate.
Desired Resolution:
I am requesting that the company honor the warranty and cover the full cost of the engine replacement and all necessary repairs. If that is not possible, I would like a full refund or a vehicle of equal value, model, and year.
This experience has been extremely frustrating, and the lack of timely communication and accountability is unacceptable. I am filing this complaint in good faith in hopes of a fair and prompt resolution.Initial Complaint

Purchase a car May 3 at this dealership, Havent received any call back giving the run around about registration and getting my plates . Usually take 2-3 weeks . I purchased a used car from this dealer and paid cash (no financing) and it's been 2 months and I keep asking the dealer for an update on my car title and no one will respond back to me or provide any information. I purchased a car on 4.18.2025 from this company. I specifically asked for pictures of the vehicle and let him know that I wanted to be sure there were not any cosmetic issues prior to making the purchase. The sales manager sent me pictures that showed no cosmetic issues and assured me there were not any. After having to resign the paperwork 4 times due to errors on the sales managers end and also trying to sneak on ************** the car wasnt shipped until 4.25.25. I received the car (wrong trim level) on 4.27.25 at 9:30 at night and as the person delivering it was documenting the delivery, I noticed scratches all over the hood. The next morning when it was light out I went to look at the car to validate what I was seeing the night before, and noticed there were several cosmetic defects. Scratches all over the car, rust spots, passenger front door was bent, moonroof was ***** and damaged. Then I noticed that the trim level was not what was advertised, which that alone impacts the pricing of a vehicle, not to mention all of the other issues. Once I got in the car to drive it, the check engine light was on and there were 0 miles left in the gas tank. The tires were bald and the brakes were grinding. This sales manager agreed t take the car back, however; he is one of the most unresponsive people I have ever had to deal with. This is now 6 days after the car was delivered, the car was picked up last night and when I tried to start it, the battery was dead (another issue), the loan still not is not paid off and I have spoken with the bank twice about it and they have no record of the sales manager contacting them for the payoff information, and I do not have my money back (over $5k). I need this loan paid off so I can purchase a vehicle, as well as my money back. This company sold me a car under fraudulent pretenses and misrepresented the state of the vehicle. Every time I call I end up talking to the same woman who refuses to let me work with anyone else.Initial Complaint

On 3/15/25, I purchased a motor vehicle (2022 Toyota RAV4 XLE) from the dealership. During the test drive I noticed some problems (Bad Shocks, bad brakes, and the radio or entertainment system was not working) . The sales rep promised everything will be fixed and pick up the vehicle on 3/22/25. I called on 3/21/25 to ensure that the vehicle was ready before I make the hour and change trip, I was it will be ready on 3/26/25. I did not hear from anyone, so on 03/28/25, I went to pick up the vehicle, I was told that they were cleaning the vehicle so they can release it, so I asked for the service record, when it was given to me, most of the repairs were not completed, so I asked if the radio was fixed and i was told 'Yes'. When we got to car, but it was not fixed, so I asked to speak with the finance manager (Luis) and the general manager (Beltha). They both promised me to leave the car and the problem will be resolved by 04/02/25 and they will drop the vehicle at my residence. I offered to get the car to a Toyota dealership near me to get it fixed, so I can forward the service invoice for the radio to them, but they refused my offer.
On 04/02/25, I called (Mike- sales rep) to find out when they will be coming, but no one returned my call. I called again on 04/04/25, and was told that they will deliver the car that day, the car was delivered and the radio was still not fixed. The sale rep told me they ordered the part (head unit) from Toyota and will replace it when they receive it. He also came with a note stating that the dealership will make my first month car payment, which they did not
On 04/23/25, I called to check on the part from Toyota and I was told by Michael that he has the part. I also mentioned to him that the temporary license plate on the car will expire on 04/26/25, but I did not hear from him, so on 04/25/25, I called and I was given an extension. I am waiting to hear from them about the repair of the radio that was supposed to be on 04/28/25.Initial Complaint

I made a down payment for a vehicle that was never delivered to me and have been attempting to receive my money for the past 21 days due to me canceling the loan from **** ** ******** I was made assurances the vehicle would be delivered within 2 days and it took about 7 days for them to inform me that the car was not even delivered. Communication and transparency between the business and its employees have been difficult to coordinate with as they show no signs of resolving the issue within a timely manner. VERY frustrating experience with Maserati of Monmouth. To provide context, my significant other is a mechanic, and I have worked in long-haul transportation for over a decade.
On March 13th, I contacted Stephanie at Maserati of Monmouth about a used vehicle and arranged to pick it up at 9 AM on March 14th. I live 2 hours away and wanted a quick process. However, when I arrived, I was informed the car was at their other dealership, Freehold Mitsubishi, due to poor communication between their team. After waiting over 3 hours, we were driven to Freehold to test drive the car, during which the check engine light came on. We diagnosed the issue ourselves in their service bay, and they assured us the car would be repaired and delivered promptly. Isaiah was our sales person. He's also the owner's son.
Despite being told the repairs would be expedited, by March 18th, I learned they hadn’t even ordered the necessary parts until that day—three full days after identifying the issue. After more delays and poor communication, the car was finally ready for pickup, but we arrived to find the tire light still on and the gas tank only half full—unacceptable for a purchased vehicle. We left after 8 PM, exhausted, after spending several days on this.
This experience has been a huge waste of time, energy, and money. I will not recommend Maserati of Monmouth to anyone and will advise others to avoid this dealership due to their unprofessionalism and broken promises.Business Response

I bought the car on February 15 2025, and in two weeks of having the car. The car started to smoke. I told them I want them to refund the money to the bank so they can undo the loan and they told me that they do not do refunds. The car has been there since March 3 2025.Business Response

On February 8th, I came in to Maserati of Monmouth in Ocean for a routine oil change and service appointment for my 2018 Maserati GranTurismo. When my car was ready, almost 3 1/2 hour later, there were scratches on the whole front end of my car. I immediately went in and spoke with Kate who came out and agreed that the damage was not there when I arrived. She said she would look at the cameras to see what happened and would pay for the damages. I have an email confirming this as well as photos she took and that I took. I have reached out several times by phone and email to see how they will be paying for the damage which is approximately only $5,000 and no one will get back to me!
