AUG-2022: Poor Quality Vehicle and Surprise Over-Charges. Our Avis Rental Vehicle required service to continue using it, half-way through our trip. Upon calling Avis to discuss, they recommended to resolve issue on my own, since their Roadside Assistance is unreliable. Cost me $50 at ********* to have Avis Rental Vehicle serviced. I Returned vehicle at the correct time on the contracted Return Date, but Avis never provided a Return Receipt, nor offered to reimburse for the repair after I apprised a Manager of the fact when I returned it. Days later, they claimed that I hadn't returned the vehicle! They added an additional $400 charge to my CC on file as a penalty. Upon challenging this additional charge, they insisted that I provide evidentiary to prove that I in fact returned the vehicle on the contracted date [which I did]. HORRIBLE Customer Service, HORRIBLE Management, UNETHICAL Business Practices. AVOID!Avis Rent A Car

Occasionally, a car is returned on time but not entered into our computer until later. We have reviewed the details of your complaint and the notes from your case. After carefully reviewing our supporting documents, we've determined that you checked in your vehicle on time and were charged in error. Furthermore, we apologize for the issue with an incorrect return time, which ultimately caused additional charges to your rental agreement.
We have refunded the over-payment of $851.89, and the ********* tire repair cost of $50.00, totaling $901.89, has been issued to the payment method on file to resolve this matter. This adjustment will appear on your statement within 5-7 business days.

Avis playing a game for me - their customer. They first told me a car rental is 140 dollars a day, I thought I might be able to find a better price, so I called budget. and budget tell me it will cost me 175 dollars a day. and I call back to Avis and they told me it is 185 dollars a day. here is the problem
they don't have a set price, and the two companies operated by the same owner. their sales get angry with me.
as a customer, I really appreciate someone do something about it to protect customer.
Can you tell me what will be the next step?

Your service rep is very rude. Yelling at me and told me I am playing games with him, all I did is shop around for a better rate.
I got a much better deal from ********** rent a car.
I have lived in GTA for more than 30 years and your service rep is the worst I ever encountered.

Cars are very uncared for, dirty inside and out, very unsanitary. dents all around the vehicle, My first windows stopped working then vehicle broke down, wasted 2 hours on my vacation then another hour to get another vehicle. The second vehicle I received was disgusting and was never washed or sanitized before being returned to service. This vehicle key battery died then was leaking water on my legs from under the dash. Avis does not care or service there vehicles and clearly don't care for any Covid policies as neither were cleaned before they were given to me.Avis Rent A Car

Yes, the credit was for Avis charging me for the upgrade they said they were going to cover due to the fact the first vehicle broke down on me. This took another hour out of my time to get my money back that I did not authorize them to charge. Avis Bait and Switch tactics (apparently a common problem with AVIS rent a car).
The AVIS agent said she could "give me" an upgrade when they "did not have" the car I had reserved a month earlier online. She further told me that the Credit Card added charge was just a "Block" on the card that would be refunded when the car was returned. I don't know that she was being purposely deceitful, If she was, that is an illegal Bait and Switch tactic. I got the impression that the car we received would not cost extra since it was AVIS failure to deliver the contracted vehicle to begin with. I should have just insisted they provide the car or equal that at no added cost - but that option was never offered.
AVIS may win this battle for $321...(cost for the "upgrade") but they lost the war. I will not do further business with AVIS and also will advise my colleagues and traveling friends to avoid this company. From on-line searches this is apparently a repeated problem with AVIS.

I am sending this report to both party **** and AVIS
I am guessing AVIS is not keep their agreement with UBER drivers.
AVIS rental car maintenance has a major problem that getting ignored.
AVIS system let **** Car rental advisors book reservations with AVIS Site, while in actuality AVIS is not providing a car.
By AVIS doing this, they are damaging the clients, with their travel time to the AVIS location and back w/o give a car. AVIS also damaging UBER because UBER pays or reimburse the drivers for the trip they take to AVSI location.
In both places the customer representatives are not in decision maker position to start an investigation to find out a truth, or to do something about it, neither at **** neither not in AVIS.
The **** personnels dropping back the line to the AVIS reps, while AVIS Reps drop back the line to the **** reps, while damaging reputations, customers time, because I guess AVIS not say the truth to ****, so **** cant warn their drivers, AVIS give out misleading information in a continually basic, such as let car to booked while is no car there.
The AVSI manger is blamed "AVIS" not fixing the cars, no maintenance, if no maintenance then give cars that are not reliable or dangerous for driving.
And none seem to care about those fact. Data is below.

05 Aug 2022 15.32pm while I wanted to report a claim, the automate says my line is more then 30 minutes, just after I had spoke with 2 rep, who was not able to assist, at all.
The internet system let a person to reserve a car even is no car in the location, the **** Car Rental advisor also reserve a car for **** driver via the system when in actuality is no car available.
Its not written on **** site, the **** driver has to have a certain credit score in order to rent a car via ****.
In one office is no credit check while in the other office its a check.

We had car trouble on vacation so we needed a rental vehicle. Reserved online a Standard Elite SUV. Called ahead to make sure the vehicle was available since we had no other means of transportation. Avis manager kept telling me he wasn't a Hertz rental instead of just telling me yes, he had the vehicle I wanted. When we arrived, he said he did not have the vehicle I had reserved unless I waited a few hours for one to be returned. Offered me a Ford Cargo van which I declined. Then he said he would let me have a Standard SUV and give me a credit for the rental difference. The gas tank was only half full but we were so far behind on our trip plus the managers attitude was so bad I did not go back in and have him fill it up. We rented with a return date of August 3 since we had no idea how long it would take to fix our vehicle. Upon returning the managers attitude was just as bad when I asked for the credit he had promised and I said I brought it back a day early and with the same amount of gas as when I picked it up. He did not credit me the difference plus he charged for a full tank of gas. Would never rent from this rental agency or from Avis ever again. Prepaid for a rental for our first family vacation and when we went to pick it up no one was at the counter and we had to call for someone. Gave license and credit card and he said my card would go through( called bank and that was not the truth) would not run another card for 24 hours. The $250 was the deposit for the rental insurance? Needless to say they would not cancel the reservation and restart a new one under my husbands name... said we would have to wait 24 hours. He was very rude, not professional what to sever and not compassionate. What a great way to start our vacation. NEVER use them. I rented a car with Avis last week and was given a Volkswagen UP 1.0 5P Eco which only held 10 liters of fuel as methane gas was intended to be used as the primary fuel source. I was given the car in Naples and we were unable to find ANY functioning methane gas stations in the entire south (we were told they are only available North of Milan). This meant that we had to stop for gas 4 times a day AND that because the gas stations are so spread out along the Italian highway we were unable to make it between stations at one point so our car actually ran out of gas on the highway, which clearly put me and my family in great danger. I paid extra money specifically to rent with Avis as I thought it would be a trusted company for me to work with but am extremely disappointed and upset that they would assign a car to people that is so unfit to function in the geographical area in which it is functioning. We rented a car from Avis, told the agent we were moving from Montana to Georgia and the agent gave us the keys and told us we had unlimited milage. When we drop the car off st the scheduled time in Georgia, my account was drafted for over $4,500 because the agent had written for the return of the vehicle to be in Billings, Montana. This was after we specifically stated that we needed the rental in order to move to Georgia. Upon reporting this major inconvenience to Avis, they refused to work with us. Apparently, the Avis we rented from was a private rental agency - an important detail the agent we spoke to completely left out when she gave us the okay, leading us to believe we were all on the same page and the vehicle being dropped in Georgia would be no issue. What a joke.. Do not rent from Avis unless you want to pay thousands of dollars to correct one agent's terrible service and failure to perform the job she was hired to do by a faulty business.Avis Rent A Car
