Our rental was at DEN from the 25th of October to the 27th. Unfortunately, they did not have my reserved car available, so they got us a large SUV with a low MPG of 16. We picked up the car, but unfortunately, I did not check the whole interior of the car. Once we arrived at our vacation rental, I noticed that the third row was super dirty, had food, wrappers, and even tissues. At the conclusion of our rental agreement, I dropped off the car and the clerk told me everything was fine and looked ******* my surprise, a whole nine days later I got an invoice for $450. Ironically, the invoice was for excessive dirt! I immediately started a dispute since we already received the car dirty, the dispute was denied. I learned my ****** to always video the inside and outside of the car when picking up. Apparently the word off the clerk who we returned the car to, meaned nothing. In addition, how do they come up with a $450 charge for cleaning?? That is clearly excessive.Avis Rent A Car

We apologize, but we did not find a record of any pre-existing conditions from the time you picked up the vehicle; we are disappointed to hear about your experience and regret that we were not notified or given the opportunity to address the condition of the vehicle during the time of your use.
If a car is returned to us with dirt of any kind, spills and stains, or other soilage residue that a customer leaves behind, a location will bill up to $450.00 to clean the car so that it can be rented again. Based on the photos of the dirt throughout the floors of the vehicle after your use, we do find the charges billed to be appropriate. We understand you may not agree with this policy, but this is the expense associated with restoring the car after your use.
Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.

I recently rented a 2023 ***** Malibu from AVIS Car Rentals in ********************* and had an extremely disappointing experience. During my rental period, the car was broken into and rummaged through, resulting in the theft of the car manual as well as numerous belongings. When I approached the staff about the missing manual, I was asked if I had a phone. Upon confirming that I did, I was told to ****** it. This response was condescending and unacceptable, especially considering I had paid approximately $600 for a 4-day rental.Additionally, when I arrived to pick up the car, the AVIS service desk appeared unmanned as the staff member, ****** ****, was in the back room. On the day of the car drop-off, I called the local AVIS number five times without any answer. To make matters worse, I witnessed ****** entering an AVIS rental car in the parking lot while smoking a cigarette on November 18th, despite all AVIS rentals being non-smoking.This level of service is far below what I expect from a reputable company like AVIS. Ive never had a problem with Avis until now. Theyre holding my deposit, every terrible customer service representative I talk to gives me a different day that Im getting it back. One customer service representative yelled at cause she didnt like that I said a bad word. After this Im done with Avis, I wouldnt recommend them to anyone.Avis Rent A Car

Unless a rental's charges meet or exceed the value of the hold, Avis doesn't actually receive the total amount of the funds in the hold. As a result, most banks and card providers do not show the return of the unused hold amount as a credit; it will simply be returned to your available balance.
If no pending authorization holds remain, this typically indicates that the unused amount was already allocated back to your balance by your card provider. If you have a record of any unexpected completed or pending transactions, at your convenience, please provide screenshots of the transaction dates, amounts and transaction details to ************************************************************** for further review.

CROOKS!!!!! They give an invoice and then keep adding more "fradulent charges" upom return of the car. Car was returned on time; they charged for late return which is fradulent! They charged extra hours. These people are completely dishonest and need to be reported to the media and to other placea that take care of crooked businesses! Shame on you for ripping off our family who did absolutely nothing wrong!!!!!!!!!! We dont want any fake response from Avis. Our car broke down in the rental return parking lot an hour before we were scheduled to return it!!!! We had to get another car. I booked a reservation with Avis at ************************************ using their 24hour call center; I received several emails confirming my 2pm pickup time for Friday 11-22-24. They had all day to call me and tell me that my reservation had been canceled, that there were no cars but instead they chose to wait until 20 minutes before my appointment to leave me a message saying it had been cancelled. There was no promise of trying to rectify the issue, or finding a vehicle somewhere else, zero attempt to make anything right, just an apathetic voice mail. Then when I tried to call the number back, I was just redirected to their call center. Finally got the locations phone number, only for that to just send me to the call center too. So at this point, I have had my entire weekend plans ruined because I chose to have faith that Avis would fulfill their arrangement to me. I dont know what happens at these places that causes them to no longer have a vehicle available, whether theyre overbooking or if its people not bringing the cars back, and I get it were dealing with the aftermath of a big storm right now, but based on many negative reviews Ive read at this location, it seems like a common issue. My biggest personal issue isnt with the vehicle becoming unavailable, its at the disrespect for them to wait until 20min before my appointment to tell me, to them not do anything to try and rectify the issue, and the cherry on top is their asinine robocaller system which makes it impossible to reach a person at the branch.Avis Rent A Car

We forecast vehicle availability based on how vehicles are scheduled to return. Several circumstances could cause inventory issues such as vehicles being extended, not returned on time or as agreed, returned to a different location, or breakdowns. We do our best to accommodate every rental but sometimes if vehicles aren't returned when they are scheduled, it causes us to be short on vehicles.

As is common within the travel industry, some bookings will include cancellation fees. ************************** includes the following disclosures:
Cancelling up to 24 hours prior to scheduled pickup time will receive a refund of the prepaid amount, minus a $50.00 cancellation fee.
Cancelling within 24 hours prior to the scheduled pickup time will receive a refund of the prepaid amount, minus a $150.00 cancellation fee. If the prepaid amount is less than $150.00 no refund will be issued.
We do apologize if this information was overlooked at the time of your booking. We do advise reviewing all cancellation policies provided by any rental, hotel, airline, or other travel provider prior to any advanced bookings.

I would give Avis zero stars if that was a possibility. Two weeks after reviewing my rental car, they charged my credit card an extra $250 claiming that I hadn't returned the key. I called and spoke with multiple customer service **** who all told me in a robotic tone that the charge was ligit and they couldn't remove it. Why would it take 2 weeks to claim I hadn't returned the key?! And I certainly remember returning the key in the first place. At check in the agent at return does not inspect the vehicle for damaged or missing components and/or cleanliness. The vehicle is sent to our maintenance team after each rental then inspected after it is returned and if the vehicle is found to have been damaged, it will be taken out of flee to be repaired. A trace was performed on your rental and shows the rental was pulled our fleet when the key was not found with the returned vehicle.
Once the vehicle has been restored and can be returned to renting, the invoice for restoration is processed from the location to the corporate headquarters before being forwarded to the customer for notification of charges. This process typically takes 1 to 3 months between when the vehicle is returned and notification is received by the customer, but can take up to 12 months in some cases.

**** Predatory rental vehicle damages scheme. ****No agent offered to inspect the vehicle with us at pick-up. I noticed pre-existing damage on the vehicle and documented it with a photo.We had no incidents with the vehicle.Upon returning the vehicle, I checked it with the agent and we walked around, he noted no damage. I never heard from budget ********* month later I received a letter from a collections company for over one thousand dollars of alleged damages to the rental vehicle. No photos. No proof. No details. Just a bill for over $1000.The *************** Service Agent demanded I provide my photos of the vehicle or they would proceed with the charges. I think its wild that your internal process is trust us bro, we check all the returned rentals, we never miss anything. Every other rental company does a 360 degree circle check together with the customer before sending out a vehicle. A trace was performed on my rental. ****. Its just as likely that the previous maintenance supervisor missed the damage (this is called human error) to the vehicle the last time it was rented out, as it is that I damaged your vehicle. You can easily avoid this by having each renter sign on the condition of the vehicle received. If you wanted to, you could easily adopt this HONEST policy. But thats not what you want. You want to go after innocent renters who decline your additional accidental vehicle damage coverage fee. If I could AVIS a 0 star rating I would. Charged me over $1300 for an "upgrade" because they didn't have the vehicle I had reserved. I used points off my one credit card which equated to $535. Upgrade fee was $110/day, which they did not tell me about. Just said sign here, as you already prepaid. Nothing was mentioned about an upgrade fee. So I drop vehicle off and all of a sudden there is a $1345 fee charged to my credit. Thats a $1900 rental for 4.5 days. That is unacceptable. We could have used **** for way cheaper than that, but figured having golf clubs with us, a rental was the better way to go. Never again with AVIS. I get that I paid to have the extra insurance, which is an extra charge, but the counter staff did not tell me about the upgrade fee. They offered me 30% back on the upgrade fee, which equates to $305CAD, but thats still a 1500 rental for 4.5 days. UnrealAvis Rent A Car

When you rent a car, you do not rent a specific model, but a category. For this reason, it cannot be guaranteed that the model you see in the images is the model you receive. An example is provided for logistical reasons and availability, but it will be a different model. Several models have similar characteristics in terms of size and quality and thus define the price of the designated category.
Your reservation was booked for use of a Standard SUV, and when the Standard Elite SUV was accepted for your rental, this included an upgrade charge as indicated on the rental agreement which shows the the additional cost as included in the estimated total, as well as signature approval of these terms. However, our **************** team has made an accommodation for the upgrade cost in a courtesy adjustment of $217.89 on November 21st to your card on file.

I would give a Zero star if I could. I enter a rental agreement number three zero five seven seven two five one five at *********** in **************. I wanted to rent a 12-passenger van for 1 week from 10/26/2024 to 11/2/ 2024. When I received the van, I saw few alarm lights came on. I thought that the mechanic did not reset the alarm after servicing the Van before rendering to the customer. I received it late at night, so I could not really use it until the next day. The next day I used it on the road, I heard the noise of the wheels vibrating louder and louder as the drive continue and the alarms still keep coming back. I returned the van the same day I drove to the counter and complained about the problem. The Avis people told me that there is no other van to replace for that. So, I had no choice to cancel the 1-week rental. I talked to the Avis customer support to let them know that they did not give me a good condition van and they did not have replacement for the defected one. I expected to get charged on 1 day of usage, which should be about $200. I was shocked to get the charge for $712.61 and a refund of $171.19. I told the Avis that They did not deliver a good product as expected when I enter the agreement, so they should refund me 1 day of usage only. They refused to honor my request.
