      I rented a SUV for a trip in ******** where we would be outdoors a lot. I anticipated possibly getting a charge for cleaning which was $450. A bit much but I knew that going in. When I got my bill with $450 for misc charges I assumed it was for cleaning. 2 weeks later I got a letter telling me about additional cleaning and a charge on my card for an additional $450 which would have been $900 total. I disputed and asked for documentation for this additional charge. After a fair amount of back and forth they responded "After careful review of our records, we find that the location has not provided documentation of the condition of the vehicle. Because of this, we have processed an adjustment in the amount of $450 USD to your credit card." and "Regarding the miscellaneous charge included on your rental invoice, this was not incurred due to a cleaning fee. The Miscellaneous charge on your receipt refers to a charge for the ************** Fee included on your rental." It was October and 70 degrees. Why and when would I have agreed to this? I again disputed and they responded with the same "After careful review of our records, we find that the location has not provided documentation of the condition of the vehicle. Because of this, we have processed an adjustment in the amount of $450 USD to your credit card" and never mentioned the ************** Fee again. I got my $900 back but it was insane customer service.

      Very bad customer service with lack of accountability for their errors. They refuse to accept their responsibility for cancelling my toll program having me pay $100s more in toll charges that I specifically tried to have covered under my toll program

      Rental charges are based on the rental parameters provided in the reservation or based on any changes made by the customer at the time the contract is created at the rental counter. These contracts are signed by the customer at the time of ********************** so that by signing the rental agreement contract, the customer agrees to all of the ********************** charges and any potential costs associated with changes in your rental parameters. The costs associated with any changes in the rental parameters are also outlined on the written contract. If a customer does not agree with the contract details presented at time of rental, it is the due responsibility of the renter to request clarification and correction prior to departing the location with the rental agreement and vehicle.

      We did not find pre-requested toll services on your reservation and, if not present on your signed rental agreement, would not be an included service for your rental use.

      Rental Complaint We reserved, pre-paid and received a confirmation for a Chevrolet Traverse *** rental on Sunday, November 10, 2024 to be picked up on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 9(reserved by **** ***** for ****** *****). We specifically reserved this *** because I, ****** ***** am handicapped in a wheelchair and needed this type of vehicle to conduct my scheduled medical appointments. The pick-up time was at 8:00 am, but upon arrival at the ******************** car rental location, we were informed that there were no cars available and if we waited, possible one would be dropped off within an hour. This was unacceptable. Mr. ***** never received an e-mail or text pertaining to the unavailability of this reserved vehicle prior to the pick-up date. Although the payment was refunded and apologies made, we called the customer service department and spoke to six different representatives because there needed to be compensation for their negligence and I had to cancel all my appointments as a result of this carelessness. Finally, the last representative provided a coupon for a free rental (November 14, 2024), however when we called the Budget rental location on Sunday, November 17, 2024, to reserve another *** we were informed the coupon is only good for an economy car. We again called the Budget customer service department regarding this and their response was this is the best they could do. Given my physical circumstances and the purpose for the *** rental request I found this remark offensive and discourteous. I am filing a complaint because it is shameful that a worldwide company with annual income in the billions would offer an economy car as the best they could do to a disabled individual in a wheelchair as recompense for the error caused by their Budget Wickliffe location.

      Our apologies for not having your reserved vehicle available for Mr. ******* reservation. We forecast vehicle availability based on how vehicles are scheduled to return. Several circumstances could cause inventory issues such as vehicles being extended, not returned on time or as agreed, returned to a different location, or breakdowns. We do our best to accommodate every rental but sometimes if vehicles aren't returned when they are scheduled, it causes us to be short on vehicles. Our **************** team did issue a free day coupon to Mr. ***** which can be redeemed for Economy Sedan through Intermediate SUV vehicles within our standard fleet.

      This is the sleaziest car rental company I have ever encountered. I was completely mislead and over charged and when I called to speak to a supervisor I was put on hold without being told and then 20 min later hung up on. The rental agent was completely misleading and was not transparent about what my final charges would be. I want to warn others to not rent a car from Avis. If I could give this company no stars I would.

      Avis does not wish to deceive anyone we do our best to make sure that all pertinent information is made available to our customer within the terms and conditions of the rental contract which you acknowledge you had read and agreed to the terms of the rental contract. By way of explanation, at the check-out/start of each rental the rental sales agents is required to offer for a nominal fee the option to accept LDW, SLI or our Roadside safety net (RSN) coverage. 

      We are disappointed that you feel you were manipulated into signing for these items. Although we do not doubt your veracity, our decisions are based on the facts at hand. The rental agreement was signed and the additional services were provided by Avis. In the event of an accident, damage to the rental car, third party property, etc., your financial responsibility would have been greatly reduced if not voided completely. Because of this we are unable to remove the cost of these options.

      I do not recommend any services from this location! Drive that extra 3-4miles to another rental business! If you must, be smart! Take photos of everything, gas, mileage, car condition inside and out and again when you drop off. Be very careful when returning the rental by checking your receipt! Check that you arent being charged for anything you didnt use. After spending over $4,000 in car rental from this location. I caught an extra charge (fuel service fee) after I had shown my gas receipt and photo mileage of what I had just pumped (which was over what they had originally given it to me with by 100miles over.) when I was returning the vehicle. The lady checked and said nothing and proceeded to give me paper work. Not telling me I was being charged extra or the difference I was being charged. When I noticed the error, I contacted Avis and agent said to email them proof of that THANK GOD I had pictures of the gas it came with and the gas I dropped it off with and my last gas receipt. I sent that in didnt hear from anyone after a few days I had to call in my self to get an update. Manager said corporate Was refunding me and it would take 2 weeks. 2 weeks passed, I called in to CORPORATE my self to make sure there was even a case open for me and they didnt even have any knowledge of what was going on. This is not honest business and I dont support that. ??

      Our records indicate an after check-in fuel audit was performed and the vehicle was showing returned with 4.49 gallons under a full tank.  A fuel service fee of $9.89 per gallon was applied in accordance with the notification on your signed rental agreement. 
       
      As noted in the terms provided on the rental document jacket at time of your rental The charges shown on the return record are not final and subject to recalculation. You'll pay any undercharges and you'll receive a refund for any overcharges we discover on review. To clarify, a refueling receipt is required at the time of return to uphold that the car was indeed returned with a full tank of gas. The receipt must show a fuel purchase, number of gallons, as well of the cost. 

      We do confirm that the fuel charge was reversed in the amount of $48.50, including associated tax, on November 15th. Please allow 3 to 5 days for this to reflect on your account. A copy of the corrected receipt has been issued for your records and should be received within the business day. You can also recover the most current receipt information on ************************** under the Reservations menu by entering your last name and rental agreement number.

      To avoid similar issues in the future, if an entry such as mileage or fuel is incorrect on the rental agreement or at the time of return, we encourage our customers to bring this to our attention at that time. Documentation can also be made available to **************** as well through ************************************************************** and will be processed as received.

      Hello! I was able to get assisted by corporate for this matter. They did refund my money as again, I showed proof of gas receipt and photos of previous gas that was in the vehicle when I first got it and when I returned. Again, showing at 420 miles left when I got it, and showing 531 miles left when I returned. I showed her my receipt of gas had just pumped thinking Id be reimbursed for adding over an extra 100 miles to it that I didnt need to. I still have all proof if needed. I dont appreciate you guys still accusing me of not returning the vehicle with a full tank when I clearly did. If anything, yall owe me for returning it with even more gas than what I got it with. Another reason why **** shouldnt use their services. ??

      They didn't have the car I prepaid for, and the truck we got was full of dog hair. We didn't know this until we lifted up the back seat to put our luggage in the cab. There was damage all over the outside of the truck. It's not worth the money, and the service was unfriendly. We were not able to talk to someone on the phone.

      I rented a car from Avis I never received a final bill. But I received a charge of over 5000 dollars. I called my bank to try to figure out the charges my bank told me there was nothing they could do because the charge was so high. My bank processed to tell me I would have to reach out to the merchant. Ive been reaching out to Avis for about 4 months now to try to figure out the charges or for my charges to be correct yet no one has been able to help me get this corrected or fixed and even when I call now Ive yet to be able to physically see a bill on why Im being charged so much.

      Our records confirm that you reserved use of a Premium Elite SUV from April 4th to April 6th. When the vehicle was not returned as reserved, our ************************** reached out to you with directions to return the vehicle immediately. The rental was confirmed returned on April 22nd and you were billed for 18 days of use, late fees, letter of demand and recovery fees, fuel fees, and associated tax. A receipt link was sent to your email on file on April 24th with this information. 

      Your rental with Avis commences at the time the contract is generated for your car rental. This usually coincides with the time that you pick up your car rental keys and depart the rental facility. The rental rates are based on a 24-hour day. However, at our locations in the **** and ******, customers are allowed a ***** period of 29 minutes before any additional time and mileage charges are applied. After 30 minutes, a charge of three-quarters of the daily rate plus $0.01 is applied. At 90 minutes, a full additional day is charged. 

      We understand you may not agree with these findings. However, we do find your rental billing to be correct and no adjustments warranted for services received and billed. You can recover the detailed receipt information on ************************** under the Reservations menu by entering your last name and rental agreement number.

I am writing to address a serious issue regarding my recent rental experience with Avis, which has resulted in significant inconvenience and distress.On November 5, 2024, while I was undergoing surgery, my rental vehicle was repossessed without prior notice or a certified demand letter. The certified letter arrived on November 7, after the repossession had already taken place. During this time, my phone was stolen, and I had updated my contact information with a secondary number, but it appears I was not adequately informed of any issues.I had authorized an extension for the rental, understanding from my bank's request on November 1 that my payment was processed. Unfortunately, despite authorizing this transaction, it seems there was a misunderstanding, leading to a repossession that has caused me undue stress and embarrassment.I have been a loyal Avis customer for over a decade, and this experience has been unprecedented. I kindly request the following:1. Immediate removal from the Do Not Rent list.2. Adjustment of my bill to reflect the original contract terms.3.       I have received the worst **************** for car ********************** company in both the phone support -and in person. I reserved a car through Priceline for pickup at ***********. I changed the vehicle type at the airport to a minivan. I agreed to pay for an upgrade and unlimited tolls. I was given a Chrysler Pacifica. Within hours of getting the van, I drove to another state, and the van shut off in an underground tunnel. I was finally able to get the van to start. I was referred to *********** to exchange the van. I received the WORST customer service from the *****, the manager at the ***************. She was beyond rude and unhelpful. I spent over an hour on the phone with national **************** who basically advised they cannot do anything when ***** told me she doesn't care what **************** has to say, this is her facility. I had difficulty getting the same vehicle type because, per *****, "the agent at *** failed to document that I paid for an upgrade." I was finally given 2 replacement vans. The first had the check engine light come on before we could leave the parking garage. I drove away with the second van, that seemed to last until the last few hours when it stopped accelerating. I returned the van and was referred to the Avis Preferred counter. After speaking with the manager, I was advised my total rental cost would be reduced to $190.00. HE LIED!!!! I was not given a credit. Priceline called back after the rental was completed and negotiated a $25 credit and a free 2-day voucher that I never agreed to. When I called **************** back, they supposedly can't see any notes from *** either. And to make matters worse, when you call the local phone number you get connected to the national # who cannot help. I spent over $400 on the worst service of my life for car rentals I was too scared to use the whole time. I will never use AVIS again in my life since they don't seem to care about their customers. I only left 1 star because that's the lowest possible.

      Horrendous! We booked through THEIR website using the Chime card. When we got to the rental place, they wanted $200 security fee. Fine. They refused the Chime card saying they don't accept it. Gave them another card not on the person it was registered to. Understandable. It was me and not my husband's. Husband then tried to use his debit card and they refused it because it wasn't the card he made the reservation with. However, it CLEARLY states on the website you can use other forms of payment. They still refused. We were forced to cancel our AirB&B due to not having a vehicle to get there. We lost almost $400 on that. We also ended up paying almost $300 more for 2 days shorter of having a vehicle. So all in all, Avis cost us around $500 because they "don't " take Chime, but sure took it and the money seconds after booking. Thanks Avis, you really ruined a vacation.
