I reserved a car for 10/27 to 10/30
Upon arrival to pick up vehicle I presented my reservation information via phone because there was nobody at the desk. I was told there was no reservation in my name and that I would not be charged, I go to the budget counter and tell them and they do not see my reservation and proceed to help me with a rental for them. I paid and assumed all good until 11/1 I see the charge for Payless for the initial rental that never took place, still trying too get my refundPayless Car Rental

We did locate a Payless reservation ***********, which was booked through a third party. Any prepayment refund requests will need to be made to the third party that you provided payment to as Payless does not collect payment from third party booking sources until after a rental has been completed.
Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.

Do not rent from Payless, total scam. They tell you you’re not signing up for additional insurance but then they do. As well as all theses other BS charges. And they claim you didn’t return with a full tank of gas. Why did the pump turn off then? The first car they gave me had a ‘check engine’ light on. I questioned the amount when signing and he said it included the deposit and would be returned. Out and out lie! Don’t bother contesting, won’t matterPayless Car Rental

I rented a car on Jul 8 – Jul 12. Columbus OHIO Airport. Never had any issues while I was using the car. 2 months later they billed my card $600 saying that I received a roadside assistance windshield repair. THIS IS 100000% FALSE! Someone in their company is scamming and making good money. They provided ZERO proof that the repair took place. They are disputing my dispute. I AM DISGUSTED! How is this happening??

When a customer rents from Payless Rent A Car, they have the option to purchase the Extended Roadside Assistance (RSN) coverage at the time of rental that will waive additional costs associated with any roadside service provided by our Roadside Service Team. Customers can also purchase a Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) that will waive their responsibility for vehicle damages incurred during an Emergency Roadside event.
Our records do not reflect that you purchased either the Extended Roadside Assistance (RSN) or the Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) that would have waived these costs. Since these waivers were not purchased, we have determined that you are responsible for the full cost of any damage incurred to the vehicle.

2 months after the rental was returned, we are sent a new windshield invoice for more than the 10 day rental! No word about the issue at check in, just a "you owe" and charge on the credit card. Given there is no photo or recourse from the customer, they might as well add it to every rental to increase revenue. Their response was "that is what our documentation says, and it matches the invoice." No wonder there is no accreditation! Worthless Car Rental.Payless Car Rental

As you declined the Loss Damage Wavier (LDW) with use that would have covered these charges we would recommend checking with your personal insurance or credit card company to see if the damage charges would be covered with them.

I made reservations for a rental car through my American Airlines Advantge app, upon arrival to Witchata Ks I was told at the Payless counter that they needed to do a credit check, then after the credit check, the clerk Sam tells me my card was locked and I needed to contact my bank, at 11:00 PM . I call Payless service and spoke to Mr Jamiez he said he couldn't do anything. I went to Budget counter ten feet away and rented a vehicle, no issues they didn't need to do a credit check, my card was ran with no issues. Payless has the worst customer service i have had to deal with for a rental, and if i could give zero stars i would.Payless Car Rental

Payless does not wish to deceive anyone we do our best to make sure that all pertinent information is made available to our customer within the terms and conditions provided at the time of booking. Please note that any customer using a debit card is subjected to a credit check, if the credit check fails a major credit card is needed to complete the rental. We do apologize but our counter agents are not able to override the credit check process.

I rented a car to be picked up at the San Diego airport at a very reasonable rate. Unfortunately, my flight got canceled and I couldn't get another flight out until the next day. I immediately called Payless to let them know that I wouldn't be able to pick up my car until the next morning. I should have been picking up around 7pm but, because of the flight cancellation, it would be the next morning at 10am. The agent told me not to cancel since Payless will hold my reservation for 24 hours. When I arrived the next morning, I was told that the Payless location at the San Diego airport was an independently owned location vs. a corporate location and their policy didn't hold reservations for 24 hours. They didn't have any cars left that fit my original booking, but for an extra $250 they could probably find something for me. Unfortunately, I simply didn't have time to argue with them and just paid the additional money. At the end of the day, they saw an opportunity to take advantage of me and did.Payless Car Rental

Overcharged almost $300 for "optional" services I refused at the counter. Trust the bad reviews and warnings from the BBB. They'll lie to your face when you pick up the car and then hit you with a large bill once you return it. The car interior was filthy and everything was sticky. Just avoid this place at all cost. You'll end up paying more if you choose Payless.Payless Car Rental

As you are aware the signed rental agreement shows the coverage options were noted on the contract, the additional cost is included in the estimated total, and we show the renter’s signature appears in acceptance of these terms.
We are disappointed that you feel you were manipulated into signing for these items. Although we do not doubt your veracity, our decisions are based on the facts at hand. The rental agreement was signed and the additional services were provided by Payless. In the event of an accident, damage to the rental car, third party property, etc., your financial responsibility would have been greatly reduced if not voided completely. Because of this we are unable to remove the full cost of these options
We do show that as a gesture of good will our Customer Service Team did discount the coverage options.

Waited 5 hrs total to get to counter, with 1 person working at PHX Sky Harbor Rental car center. Got a car that ended up stranding us and had to be towed by Payless, only to have to go back to rental car center. Returned car at 730 Sept 5th to catch a flight, only to charged $82.12 for returning car on Sept 6th @ 2am.... Renter Beware... do not rent from this garbage company. Not at all worth saving a few bucks. Payless is worthless.Payless Car Rental

The payless car rental company does not claim this location. Why do they let them use thier name? Shady practices. They charged me 200+ for an "upgrade" they said. I did not get an upgrade. Never again. Do not use this payless car rental location. They will charge you more.Payless Car Rental
