    Misleading sales practices. I thought I was just getting a quote to change over my service. Turns out they signed me up on the spot now its my problem to deal with changing my service back to my regular supplier.

    Good ******************** NRG Home is sorry to hear about your negative experience with a Sales Agent. Your concerns have been escalated to our Sales QA team for investigation and appropriate action will be taken to address the agent's behavior. I also see from *** Home's records that you spoke with a **************** *** on 5/29/2025 to request cancellation of the supply enrollment. A cancellation request was submitted to the utility, however the utility has rejected the request as OH rules require customers to contact the utility directly to request cancellation if the supply account has not reached the service start date. We encourage you to contact your utility to request the enrollment be rescinded to prevent it from starting supply service with *** Home.     I was approached in my ******* by this young lady talking about my electric bill. When she asked me to pull up my account she showed me that my price I was paying with the utility was almost double NRG's, and I said sign me up. I didn't believe it would go down much because I was just bought a hot tub, but once I got my bill 2 months later, my bill was cut in half, even with the new hot tub.She gave me a paper when to call back after the 3 months so I can update my price, and when I updates it, the price was even lower than what she initially gave **** was very pleased and I've been a customer for 9 months now.I remember her telling me that if I didn't call by that date then my price would become variable, so I listened and updated.I recommend *** to everyone I know, as long as they listen to the **** they won't have issues

    They scam you out of money when they advise you to go to another company. They then say there is nothing we can do. They skyrocket your bill and make you pay 400+ a month to trap you or 180 for cancellation. I have contacted customer service seven times. They steal from you and act "untouchable." It's completely horrible how they treat reliable customers.

    In March of 2025, I received a letter in the mail from my energy company, Penelec (First Energy), stating that I had signed up with NRG Energy as my electric generation supplier. This was not the case - I never signed up with ***. I called the number for *** supplied in the letter from ******* and provided my service address. I was told this address was recently added as a new service address, however, the account was not in my name or anyone else's name in my household. I was actually given the person's name that the account was in, which I'm guessing the representative shouldn't have done, and it's nobody I've ever heard of. I explained that never signed up for this service and didn't want it. I was told there was nothing that *** could do and that I needed to call ******* to get it straightened out. I asked if I would be charged anything and the person would not answer that question, but instead continued to insist that I call Penelec. Not helpful. So I called Penelec and explained the situation and they reinstated my service. I thought that was the end of it. On my next bill from *******, there is a charge from *** which ******* says they cannot refund. So it all seems shady and underhanded to me. A company that I've never signed up with is getting money from me for services I never wanted or authorized. And it seems I have no recourse to get the charge removed as NRG won't work with me. I'm a working man and don't have the time to pursue this any further. I would just like to warn others about the experience I have had with this company.

    Complete theives. ******* **** didn't explain to me I had to call them before they jacked up my prices by 3x. Complete joke. I see why they hired young people to do this job. Scamming people during a recession. All this while oil prices are dropping. Unless I'm getting a refund check for the difference in my bill, go F yourselves NRG.

    ************. They approached me at the airport and promised me free miles, and that nothing on my bill was actually changing. They lied obviously and my bills have doubled. Going to call my electric company in the morning and see what I can do.

    Misleading and predatory business practices. Stay away! Offered a low introductory rate but then it quickly went to higher than I was paying, with no form of notification whatsoever. When called I was given a check for $125 for compensation, which did not come close to covering the hundreds of dollars extra I paid. Obviously, I should have paid more attention and done more due diligence, but still a despicable practice. hopefully my experience helps others.

    When you sign up they give you a pamphlet that you're supposed to sign and mail in if you wanna cancel the service before it starts. I called to complain that I had mailed in the pamphlet saying I don't want their service why am I still being signed up for it and they told me the only way to cancel is to call them lol

    My 97 year old father was approached at ******* & was asked a few questions including his zip code for which Energy supplier he utilized. Unbeknownst to him he was enrolled or opted-in for NRG Energy alternative supplier. I confirmed that this is how their sales persons are recruiting when I called directly. I find this an act of preying on vulnerable people during distracted grocery or household shopping! Disgusting!

    Our electric bill received a hike up from around $100 to $500. I couldnt pay that but still continued to pay what I could. I have paid since August of 2024 till today have paid over $1600 in 6 months and I still owe $500 all because of this stupid 3rd party agreement I signed 2 years ago. We saw a hike last year but not to this degree. I cant get out from under it. I am a full time teacher.
