1 starOur electric bill received a hike up from around $100 to $500. I couldnt pay that but still continued to pay what I could. I have paid since August of 2024 till today have paid over $1600 in 6 months and I still owe $500 all because of this stupid 3rd party agreement I signed 2 years ago. We saw a hike last year but not to this degree. I cant get out from under it. I am a full time teacher.NRG Energy, Inc.

1 starAbsolute scam. They ambushed my wife at ******* and offered a gift card in exchange for a Penelec account number. They then used the info to falsely claim I had chosen them as my electricity supplier. My wife isn't even on my Penelec account and they never contacted me at all. Fortunately ******* made it easy to cancel. 0 stars. would not recommend.NRG Energy, Inc.

1 starI wouldnt wish this company on no one! There are like roaches in ******* trying to offer gift cards for adding them on ur PSEG bill. These people told me they would save me money on my bill and my bill went from ****** to over ****** a month. These people need to be sued for what they do to people. They are always in ******* soliciting their service and should be banned from being in ******* while people are shopping and trying to enjoy some peace from scammers. I cancelled my service and yet they are still on the bill for another 3 months. Please avoid this company at ALL COSTS! *** probably stands for *****************NRG Energy, Inc.

1 starI recently had a disappointing experience with *** that felt misleading. An *** representative at ******* assured me that signing up would reduce my **** bill without any charges unless I fully registered. Trusting their reassurances, I signed up believing it was ************ my shock, I was billed over $300 by *** on my **** billcontrary to what I was told ( That I would only have the service started if I registered in the first place). This was not a reduction but an unexpected charge. When I reached out to ***, I asked for a refund and to close my account. I received ticket numbers #C4531 & #****** but was met with unsatisfactory customer service. The representative informed me it would take two billing cycles to close my account, meaning I could incur around $700 in charges until February. Their solution was a mere $10 refund. Despite my emails, including details and the associate's ID who misled me, *** hasnt responded, leaving me frustrated and feeling scammed.I urge others to exercise caution with *** representatives and demand transparency. My experience suggests a need for better oversight in such interactions. I hope for a formal closure confirmation and refund details soon. Until then, I am sharing this to prevent similar situations for others.NRG Energy, Inc.

1 starI was told at ******* by the *** employee that they were the suppliers for ******** and wanted to thank the customers by giving a 15 dollar gift card to us. So I signed up to have it mailed to me come to find out they had signed me up for *** as the electric supplier after I told my son about it we went it and the *** *** took off and we stopped him and he said he could not cancel it we will have to call and cancel. I was scammed into this and they told me nothing and I wasn't shown a contract or terms and conditions they just made me sign to receive a gift card. I will be contacting the state police and our district attorney for scamming the elderly!NRG Energy, Inc.

1 starI am so ****** off right now. Walking into *******, they asked for a copy of my electricity bill in exchange for a $10 gift card. So I shared it. I was ensured that I was not signing up for a new electricity provider. They just wanted to see people's bills. I started getting emails that I would be changing electricity providers. I IMMEDIATELY emailed them saying I didn't want this. I got a confirmation that my cancelation was being processed.15 DAYS LATER I get an email saying welcome to the nrg family. What the f***. ******** company and I want every ***** back. What scam artists and liars.NRG Energy, Inc.

1 star*** approached my mom at a ******* to offer her $10 using a PSEG bill. I thought it was harmless and sent her a copy of my PSEG bill. They didn't inform her I would be enlisted in a 12 month plan . I received an email of this new enrollment and immediately emailed back that I was perfectly happy with my PSEG plan and this was dishonest as they didn't inform her of full details. They said because it didn't start I would not be charged and that it was cancelled. I called **** and they stated this was not cancelled. *** is a dishonest scam company and this was a headache I definitely would have loved to avoid.NRG Energy, Inc.

1 starThe NRG Energy *** "enrollment" **** were at ******* in ***********, P.A. to try and convince people to sign up for their service without fully explaining it (this happened to me and to other elderly family members). I'm ***orting this to ******* as well - its an interruption to our shopping experience and inconvenience for those already happy with their electric/gas service providers. I called to cancel my enrollment or service immediately but was told I had to wait even though I stated at the store the *** told me this service is "free of charge to help you save money" which is the exact opposite of what I discovered out after researching this (i.e. deceptive business practice). The *** *** also told me this service was to "ensure that PECO wasn't charging folks a lot of money."NRG Energy, Inc.

1 starTerrible company. Way over charge you for your gas and electric. Then try to lock you in for a 2yr period. Charging 16 cents per KWH ON ELECTRIC and 50cents for natural gas.Local supplier (BGE) charging 11cents per KWH and 38cents for gas My bill went from ****** per hr w/ 3rd party to 350. With 3rd party. There should be a law against this type of ripoff!Only getting 1 star because I have to rate something. Should really be a big fat '0'.NRG Energy, Inc.

2 starsThis is a company that is always trying to grab customers at above market rates, and it seems like they use a couple tactics to do this depending on the energy market. A lot of people say that after either 3 or 6 months they crank up their rates, which I think is true when the market is flat. In my personal experience, they were selling when electric rates were about to drop, proportions a lower price that they knew that providers were going to lower even further than their "good" price. The good news is, their contract has no cancellation fee, I think legally required. I will be monitoring for any issues that come up while cancelling service, but overall, be weary whenever this company is trying to sell you on anything.NRG Energy, Inc.
