Trinity Solar has been nothing but headaches since Ive had solar on my roof the first incident was when I started getting leaks in the house after solar was put on due to me needing a new roof which Trinity Solar never informed me until I had a roofer look at my roof after the leak and he said I needed a new roof. I wouldve replaced my roof first before solar panels were going on. I ended up getting a new roof Trinity solar had to removed all the panels in order to do so. After the new roof was put on the crew that installed the solar panels did a very bad job and basically ruined a few spots of a very expensive roof. I first called Trinity because I started to have a leak in the house after the solar panels got installed. Instead of having one of their experienced people come look at the roof. They had someone that did not know what they were doing and decided the leak had nothing to do with solar panels which is true we came to the conclusion It had nothing to do with that, but this person ended up, sealing a part of the roof which he thought where the leak was coming from which wasnt. He decided to seal it with a window sealer it look like, so he ruined that part of the roof the sealer never hardened and was very gooey he did not use a roof approve sealer!!! when my roofer came to take a look at the roof after we realize the leak was not coming from the solar panels. He noticed the people that installed the solar panels stepped on the very peak of the roof, where it forms a triangle, and that part is very soft so all the nails came out of the roof shingles. He also noticed that trinity Solar made a mistake on putting the solar panels on and decided to move the solar panels to the left of the roof. Maybe 2 feet and put holes in the roof and decided to put a metal flask sheet over those holes which in my head is absurd for a brand new roof that I paid a lot of money for. Ive tried contacting Trinity several times and the vice President and Im getting nowhere.?Business Response

08/2022 I-purchased Trinity Solar *************** representative told me it is free and your electric bills will be free because of electric production by solar panels. I have called several times Trinity customer service that the electricity output is not working. Trinity **************** continually tells me it is working. This without inspection, without review of billing, without any review & inspection of the machinery. I spoke to the sales representative. He took the time and reviewed my billing from PSE&G. He found the system is not working as advertised. Per the Sunnova Website The ** system is underperforming. The system has only generated 1k kWh total but should be at 6kWh production.I and a friend reviewed the PSE&G electric bills from 2021-2023 - and, taking into consideration physical lower electrical usage (which PS&G displays as less electricity used) by me over the duration since installation till now; and, the increased ********************* charges. We have found under 3% savings, which is overshadowed with the Trinity Monthly Fee about $66. Thus i have no electricity savings from the Trinity Panels. In addition there are no government or private credits for Solar Panels, as promised.I would like a removal of the monthly Trinity fee to give me a balanced outcome of my electrical charges.Business Response

Trinity Solar attempted to contact **************** to discuss her production concerns on 4/20, 4/24, and 4/25 by phone and on 4/24 by email.
We've confirmed that her solar system is producing as expected and has already produced approximately half of its guaranteed annual production since it was energized in September 2022.
**************** signed a Power Purchase Agreement with her finance company, Sunnova, and paid no upfront costs for the solar installation. She is not eligible for federal tax credits since she does not own the system.
We look forward to connecting with her to resolve her concerns and will remain available for any of her solar needs.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
This problem revolves on saving money. Installing these solar panels on my home does not save me money on my electricity use rather costs me more money. No matter what Trinitys usage production contract stipulates if it does not save money for the customer then ********************** panels are of no value. I would not recommend installing solar paneling from Trinity for the reason stipulated above!

Trinity Solar connected with Mr. and ***************** on 4/28/23, and again on 5/2/23, to help them understand the charges on their PSE&G electric bill. We identified non-solar related charges contributing to their higher bills and confirmed that their reliance on the utility's grid continues to decrease as a result of their solar energy production.
Solar savings are measured on an annual basis rather than monthly and we're confident that the ******** savings will continue to grow. We plan to reevaluate their electric bills and savings once the solar system has been energized for a full year in September 2023.Customer Answer

The same salesperson from Trinity Solar has visited our house FOUR times in the past 10 days, and when he didn't catch us on the first visit, on the second visit he trespassed into my backyard to speak to us. What in the world are you training your employees to do for a sales pitch?! We were in the backyard doing heavy manual labor - which involved us using power tools, sledgehammers, PPE, etc. - just you get the picture of how busy we were and how dangerous this was for your salesperson to approach, let alone interrupt, us. After that, he persisted in stopping by 2 more times over the next few days (the most recent being today). Please take us off your list of places to visit. I am shocked and disgusted that a representative from your company thought it was permissible to come uninvited onto my property. If any of your employees trespass again, I will be calling the police. As it stands, I will NOT be answering the door for any future visits. Please stop coming to my house.Business Response

I have a contract with the company to remove and reinstall my solar panel. I notified them about the work I was doing. They came uninstalled the panels in Sept 2022. After the home remodeling was completed I contacted them several times to have them reinstalled. It's been since Nov 2022, trying to get in touch with them. Took about 1 months to get a response and that was only because I kept calling. They finally set up a date for reinstall, but technican told me they were unable since the inverter was removed when the new siding was installed. After several conversations with the company they told me that I had to purchase a new unit as it was damaged. I had a warranty which was not honored. Then they came back to install the panels, since my roof line changed they didn't have all the necessary equipment to complete the install. It's now 3 weeks no calls, just run around. Been 5 months since I been trying to get them installed. I lost 4 months of solar production plus loss of use of my shed. All I want is for the job to be completed.Business Response

Trinity Solar contracted to temporarily remove ************************** solar system in September 2022 with a reinstallation date scheduled for 3/3/23. Upon re-installation, we discovered the equipment on the side of the house was removed and damaged by a third party, which unfortunately voided Mr. ********** warranty. Once the new equipment was purchased by the customer on 3/20/23, ********************** continued with the re-installation. The crew discovered a change to the roofing structure which required more racking material to complete the job than we had on hand. New materials were ordered and there was a delay in receiving them. However, once received on 4/14/23, the re-installation was completed on 4/15/23 and the system is currently up and running. We are confident we've resolved ************************** concerns and we will remain available for anything he needs.Customer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. But what wasn't mentioned was that it took me 3 months of calls to get them to schedule the reinstall in addition they never told me the inverter needed to be removed and that if a third party removed it that my warranty would be voided. As I did mention to them I was changing my roofline prior to the uninstallation.

We signed the contract with Trinity Solar in February of 2022, and the process took over 12 months for completion. After the many delays and communication failures from Trinity my system was completed by the second week of September of 2022.My system was finally turned on by the third week of March 2023. Because of Trinity's lack of customer service and being deceitful at everything they do I have been paying for my loan for the solar panels to Sun-Nova ($355.35) and to ********************** (avg $400) a month since December of 2022. Its the middle of March 2023 and we're still being forced to pay for two Electric Bills. The lease company Sun-Nova started to charge us lease payments 3 months after final installation which was done by early September. My system was turned on the last week of February. The lack of communication and deception by the sales rep and concierge is disgusting, and know I'm paying two electric bills with absolutely no end in site. The promise of a significantly lower electric bill was deceptive and wrong. The sales rep lied about how we are compensated through the electric company and how much we will produce. Trinity takes advantage of customers by strenching the truth and out right lies about there services. I have sent letters and e-mails expressing my disappointment with them. I asked for compensation that other customers have done with no response since February of 2023. *************************.Business Response

Solar panels installed summer 2017. Continued contact with company due to improper installation, completed by highly intoxicated worker. Intoxication reported to company at 8am. Company failed to intervene. Placement of panels not to engineers specifications. Panels not producing required supply due to improper placement of panels from said intoxicated worker. Multiple attempts (15+) to resolve issue with company. Employee finally came to home to review November 2022. Employee saw our complaint, agreed approx 40% of solar field shadowed by existing roof dormers and elevation differences. Employee reported problems to supervisor, *********************. Employee attempted to find resolution to problem. Supervisor instructed employee to ignore the customers problem. I am still in contact with now said former employee who will agree to corroborate interaction with supervisor and to improper installation of solar panels. We continue to pay monthly installments to trinity solar for panels, yet are not receiving contracted production. We are paying for services not rendered. Should I seek an attorney to further this dispute.Business Response

Trinity installed a solar system on ************************ roof in 2018. His financial agreement with Sunnova guarantees the system will produce ***** kWhs annually and it has either hit or exceeded that guarantee every year since.
Year 1: 5,724.45kWh
Year 2: 5,849.6kWh
Year 3: 5,791.06kWh
Year 4: 5,761.8kWh
Year 5 (to date): 3,069kWh
Trinity did need to make a slight design change at the installation, otherwise ******************** would have had visible conduit running across his roof since he didn't have attic access to run the conduit. However clearly this design change had no impact on the production of his solar system.
Trinity spoke with ******************** on 3/23/23 to discuss his concerns. However, after stating that he has a lawyer, he ended the call when we tried to confirm if he retained them or only consulted. ********* his accusation that there was a highly intoxicated worker on his project, we have no evidence of this occurring and no record of ******************** reporting the incident. With over ****** installations per year, we follow strict guidelines regarding worker safety to ensure the work we do is at the highest levels of safety in the industry. We take claims of worker intoxication seriously and act expeditiously when properly notified a worker may be under the influence of any drugs. When notified, we send a supervisor to the site to remove the employee from the premises and test them for any drugs or alcohol in their system. Given the project took place in 2018 and we are just now being advised of the potential intoxication of an employee, we have no way to confirm the issue actually occurred and, therefore, no way to fix the issue now. *********** Mr. ********* system is performing as expected, was installed to the Engineers specifications, and was validated by his local permitting office as a proper installation.
In an effort to continue discussions, we made another attempt to connect with ******************** via email on 3/24 but have yet to hear back. We will remain available to discuss his concerns or if he retained an attorney, they would need to contact our legal team to resolve his complaints.Trinity Solar is BBB Accredited.
