They dont even deserve 1 star. Im New to Ny and went to Public Assistance to get help they told me to go with Suburban oil/propane because they deal with them directly.then I was told to apply for HEAP which I did and received $964.00 suburban delivered ***** gallons @ $3.999 for a total of $934.03 (never was told about fees) $18.31 Municipal Tax $9.15 another Municipal tax of $.18 Transportation fee and that first fill up discount and that pricing is in volume of 1200 per calendar year usage. My second Heap ***** for $900. They delivered ***** gallons of fuel oil and charged me $944.39 price per gallon of $5.729 and $18.31 Municipal Tax $9.24 Transportation fee. When I called and checked on when delivery was this is when I found out all of this. I have NO income and struggling to get by and theyre taking advantage of the system (Heap) and price gouging the customers. I called and Notified Heap and called Suburban they told me that to terminate their service I would have to pay a fee for early termination. I NEVER signed a *********** Now I owe them when I told them to only use what I have in credit and Heap. Which they didnt. Was also told it was discounted for the first time fill that why I got it for $3.999. The average price of fuel oil is ***** - ***** at least 7 other companies only charge ***** a gallon. Wish I knew this about Suburban fuel oil before I started an account with them. Buyers Beware. I will Not Deal with them as far as owing anyone they owe me NO WAY IS A PRIVATE RESIDENT Gonna use 1200 Gallons of fuel in a calendar year I have a Boiler System and only use approximately 850 a year heat and hot water.Suburban Propane, L.P.

Mr. ****** received his first fill at our discounted first fill price. The next delivery Mr. ****** received was not at the first fill rate, but it was at a discounted rate.Thomas LaNoce
Date: 04/20/2025
How is the $5.729 a discount for second fill when the average is $2 lower than what you charge? Then suburban wanted to charge me an early termination fee when I never signed a contract. 10 other companies were charging ***** a gal but your company is charging $5.729 because I didnt use 1200 gallons for a calendar year. This is price gouging and you know it.Review fromL. S.

If I could leave a no star review I would. I have been trying to get someone to help me before March 24 but sent an email on March 24 and was talking with ********* CamachoVelez in Customer Relations. She did not understand what I was trying to tell her but after a couple of emails I decided to just take what she was suggesting and start a new contract. All I wanted was my tank filled. It is on empty. After back and forth dispute on the contract (I am an existing customer but they could not find my account and wanted to charge me for another yearly rental fee) I decided to just pay it start another contract to just get my tank filled. However, they sent me a contract via email and no way to docu sign. I sent another email asking her to send me the contract in a docu sign format so I could electronically sign this contract. I was ignored. I gave it a couple days and then called in Wednesday (this is Sunday) I talked to another worker and explained what I needed she said that I could send the contract to *** ex and have them print it out then scan it back to them. I explained to her that this was very inconveniencing. I asked her did they have docu sign. She said they "usually do" whatever that means. I mean you either do or you do not. I asked her to either send me the docu sign version so I could sign the contract or print the contract for me and mail it to me. I mean as I not the customer? Why am I going through so much trouble to print and send you your own contract? Not to mention this is going to cost me several hundred dollars. I would think this was an easy ask. I also sent an email to ******** after speaking with this representative begging her to take care of this for me. The representative assured me she would. As of this writing. It has been 5 days I have yet to get a contract, an email, an explanation or anything. What do I have to do to get my tank filled from your company?******* ****** ******** P.S. check with ******** for my information.Suburban Propane, L.P.

We have reached out several times but have not received a response. We sent out a technician with our **************** Agreement. No one was home so we left the agreement and a business card for her to complete, sign and return. She may contact us with any questions.L. S.

More lies. Wow. The moment you reached out to me I responded. The contract you left in my door I signed that day and returned and left a message and texted back and forth with the guy and after some time I got it resolved. Terrible customer service. ********* in the office is the worst. Stop embarrassing yourselves if it literally was not for me continuing to push this I would have never received service.Review fromT. Terrible company Suburban I am 79 years old but still work and pay my bills but when I get SCAMMED I will retaliate This winter I have called for delivery each month because my gauge read below 10 each time I was told I would receive a delivery in two days after three days still no delivery I shut off the gas during the day so My pipes would not freeze at night I went through 3 months of this At one point in February I had to chase down a truck to get him to deliver over 90% the following 3 days there was a truck each day delivering one tank at a time ( we have 9 tanks on the property) the 4 th day another truck showed up and the driver could not understand why he was there ? In January and February these people refused to answer the phone yet driving by Suburban Milford at 10 am or3 pm there were two or three trucks sitting there Yet I Could no get a delivery ( my residence Is 8 miles away ) I have been lied to by this one individual since day one and have had enough of this treatment I have not paid for the last delivery because They as usual have not delivered for the entire month of March I just informed them ( her ) that I would pay the bill after they pick up the tank and yes they charged me @$ *****/gallon with no notice. I will be contacting an attorney as to my rights and also advise the property owner in replacement of the 8 other tanks on the propertySuburban Propane, L.P.

This customer is a low volume user and only uses ******************** for space heat. Total 2024 gallons was only ****** and so far this year has used only 240. Customer is priced correctly given volume purchased. Pricing was hire in the winter as supply and demand is higher during that time. We tried to reach this customer several times but have not received a call back.T. A.

After being a long time customer (since 1991), I switched companies late June of last year (2024). I had been on the pre-buy contracts, so there was always a bit of a surplus on my account at the end - This time, I had a credit balance of $232.70. I called at the beginning of July after the new company installed and filled my tank, and told Suburban that I was canceling service and needed an overpayment refund, and that I needed my tank (which was not empty) picked up as well, and a refund on what was remaining in it (which I know is pennies on the dollar, but it is still MY MONEY). I was assured that they would get someone out there as soon as they could to pick up the tank, and after everything was completed, they would refund me all at once. I have called SEVERAL TIMES since them asking when they will be picking up my tank, and they told me they will pick it up when they have an installation. IT HAS BEEN 9 MONTHS, and I am still waiting. At this point it's not so much what's left in the tank (I do want the money for that as well), but they are holding my $232.70 hostage and that money was obviously going to go to the new company to pay for the propane from them. Suburban is the worst company in the area, and I will NEVER recommend them to ANYONE. I didn't even want to rate them 1 star, but it made me!!!Suburban Propane, L.P.

In accordance to the customers Pre-Buy contract from ********* season, they do not receive a refund for any unused pre-buy gallons. We are picking up the tank today and will give credit back for the propane remaining in the tank minus the $1.00 per gallon restocking fee.Durantini D

Congrats on finding a way to s**** hard working people out of their hard earned money - especially in this economy. Rest assured, social media is a great platform to tell people about businesses like you who s**** innocent consumers. I'm sure one post can cost you guys more than the $232 that you took from me - my bad for being a good customer and paying my bills... As for the rest of your answer, you should have done your research before answering, because you are TOTALLY WRONG... The ***** is that you dispatched a tech on 4/3 to pick up my tank, but they went to the WRONG ADDRESS and picked up the WRONG TANK - and YES, my house number is on my mailbox, so there's no excuse for that. The following day your tech did arrive at the correct address, but the ground is still too wet to pick up the tank. We are waiting for the ground to dry enough to get it out of there (last summer would have been PERFECT!)Suburban Propane, L.P.

The contract states that you do not receive a refund for Pre-Buy gallons. You choose to change providers, we did not breach out end of the agreement. We pre-buy these gallons ahead of time to offer a lower rate during the heating season. If you change service providers that doesn't change the fact that we already purchased these gallons for you.Review fromAlyssa B

I was supposed to be on automatic delivery with these guys and for the last 3 deliveries I had to call to get one because we were getting low. I also had the friends and family discount and then they took me off WITHOUT warning or letting me know. I did not know that an employee had left until last week. This is bad business and they should have informed me of the price change and they did not. I called and complained and the best they said they could do was 5.89 a gallon. They originally charged me 6.49 and told me it was the daily market value for propane that do due to my usage which is normal of what it was last year and I have only been with the company for just under 2 years! I looked up the daily market value for propane that day and for NH it was 3.89. This is insane to charge 6.49. My tanks were less than 5% left of gas and the last delivery was 1/29/25. How can take the discount off without informing me? I was not on a fixed rate but all winter long my rate was 3.89 and no more! I will be finding a new company soon!Suburban Propane, L.P.

Suburban Propane has tried to charge us $6.27 a gallon on our last two deliveries. I have had to call and get the price reduced to $3.99 a gallon both times. I am changing to another gas company today.Suburban Propane, L.P.

We rebilled his delivery as a courtesy and agreed to send our Pre-Buy information to him this summer. At that time he was good with this solution. Unfortunately we have been unable to reach him to confirm so ask if he had any additional concerns.Review fromCathy M

Worst propane company out there. They charge more than double what other companies charge and are not transparent they should have warned me they charge more before accepting the contract. I was using another company that Suburban bought out and was told I had to switch to Suburban. I consider this Switch and bait. I cancelled my service and requested the tank be picked up but they want to charge for the pickup of this tank they never even installed.Suburban Propane, L.P.

Would never go to them again. They overcharge and customer service is awful. I paid for 200 gallons, delivered almost 40 gallons less. I switched to a different propane company and paid the same amount to fill my tank that suburban charged for 200 gallons. I requested multiple times to close my account and to receive my refund, received a voicemail that it would be sent out. Weeks later account still open, received an invoice showing my credit. Called again. Still not closed. Called a 3rd time and the call center was able to send a complaint and my request to close again. Received voicemail that it will be closed and 4 weeks for my refund. Been a month already. Would never recommend to anyone. Poor customer service and response time.Suburban Propane, L.P.

WARNING ALWAYS PRICE CHECK the Malvern Arkansas Office. I have been dealing with them for around 9 months now over the same price gouging issue, I have called to asked them why they were $2.00 higher then anyone else around us. I told them not to delivery any more fuel to us, unless we call and ask for it. We were going to run the tank down and bring in another supplier, because we were told to run the gas down or we would just loose the already over priced gas. In December of 2024 they delivered gas and again January 2025. I called and talked to the lady in the office and ask why they keep bringing fuel to us after I had requested them to stop last year, I also ask her why we were being overcharged for fuel. She could not give me a reason why we were being charged that much, but would have the store manager **** call me back. **** did call me back and also could not give me a reason why but would talk to his boss and call back to work out something with us. No call back and once again delivered more fuel at even a higher price of $5.22 gl. February 2025 general price around here is $2.54 a gallon, even talked to a manager in ****** store and he told me price was $3.00 a gallon which I do expect the West Coast to be a little bit higher and that was within reason. Once again I contact the store to talk to someone and **** was not in and according to the lady in the Office and their was no other person in entire company that they had contact information for that I could speak with about my problem. In 3 months they have billed us 5K for fuel just to keep the pump from freezing on the Fire Trucks, this takes funds away from our budget to be about to supply equipment we need. If they are doing the same to our Seniors, & Others in the community that means they have to do without food and other items to stay warm. Shame on them for the GREED and not a reasonable profit margin. I will be contacting the AG's Office next if nothing is done about this soon.Suburban Propane, L.P.

Our local manager spoke with Mr. ***** and we have resolved this issue, explained that the account was not on any pricing contracts for the year and was subject to standard market pricing. Customer understood and we offered to put the customer on a pricing contract this upcoming season. He was thrilled with the responses and is happy to continue doing business with us.Review fromJeffrey B

I am filing this complaint against Suburban Propane for unethical price gouging on heating oil. On 2/28/25, I received a delivery and was shocked to see they charged me $6.54 per gallon. After contacting several local heating oil companies, I confirmed the market rate in my area is between $3.66 and $3.75 per gallonnearly half of what Suburban Propane charged.Outraged, I called Suburban Propane for an explanation and refund. The representative, *****, consulted her manager and initially offered to lower the price to $5.99 per gallonstill excessively high. Only after I threatened to expose their pricing did they further reduce it to $5.29 per gallon, still well above local rates. This suggests Suburban Propane deliberately overcharges customers and only adjusts when confronted, demonstrating deceptive and exploitative pricing.Feeling cheated, I immediately canceled my service and switched to a competitor with fair pricing. I suspect this is not an isolated incident but a broader pattern of overcharging.Desired Resolution:A full refund of the difference between the $6.54 per gallon charged and the highest confirmed market rate of $3.75 per gallon.A commitment to fair pricing and transparency to prevent future overcharging. An apology for their unethical conduct and failure to address my complaint responsibly. If Suburban Propane fails to act, I hope this complaint warns other consumers. I can provide my delivery receipt and competitor rates upon request.Additional Comments:Suburban Propanes refusal to correct an obvious overcharge until pressured reveals a culture of greed. The BBB should investigate and hold them accountable.Signed,******* ********Suburban Propane, L.P.

We had a nice long conversation with *******. He originally was upset that the National Average is not what he was paying, and we walked him through the website and explained the price that he was referring to was for customers who average 1200 gallons, minimum, a year.He falls short about 700+ gallons. After a while of explaining he understood. We said we would honor the rebill price that he was stated, and he was happy with that.
