This is a scam business. Every year we get invoices from them about our web hosting. I contacted our web host about it and he said it was a scam, used to catch people not paying attention.

We are a non-profit school organization and received an urgent invoice regarding our domain name. On 9/6, the check for $288 was deposited by the company. We are seeking a full refund, as we were preyed upon like others by a formal looking invoice with accurate info and details regarding our organization and a fast approaching deadline to respond. We also request that all further communication stop, as we have since received another invoice, which alerted us to the scam.

Please send me your domain name so I can remove and or refund.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ******** to refund the $288 in full and to remove our listing from their database, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. We also do not want to be contacted again in the future.

The company requested our domain name which is HAYNESPTO.ORG

    Sincerely,

I'm filing this complaint for the same reasons others have filed, because this company is the perpetrator of deceitful tactics. Yes, their mail solicitation states that it's NOT A BILL -- but the overall appearance of the letter appears to create legitimacy in the form of a renewal, rather than a proposal to solicit. In past years, because it's so convincing, I think I may have paid it under the mistaken assumption it was legitimate. This year a ****** search revealed that it is a scam. I too handle my own domain registration and have never worked with this company. They are predators looking to dupe people into believing it's a renewal fee. I want my name removed from their mailing list.

Domain Listings posed as the provider of my domain registration, asking for payment for renewal. Not knowing where my organization's domain was registered, I paid it. However, today I realized that my domain was registered elsewhere and I'm receiving nothing for my $288 payment to Domain Listings. Regardless of what some fine print may say - though I never saw it on the notice sent to me - they are certainly posing as your domain registrar and taking advantage of numerous people. As the receipt attached shows, I paid 5/31/22 after multiple notices were sent to me.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/11/2022

I do not understand how this customer claims we posed as a provider of domain registrations.  Our solicitation clearly states on the top it is a *********************** and that you are paying for a Domain Listing on our internet directory. The only mention of Domain Registration is the additional disclosure we added that states "We are not a domain registrar and do not register or renew domain names".

Given the document is titled '***********************', and given it states it is for a Domain Listing on our Internet Directory, and given the statement "We are not a Registrar and do not register or renew domain names" I do not understand how this customer can leap to the accusation that we are "Posing as a Domain Registrar". If the customer didn't see those statements, what did she see that made her think we were posing as a Domain Registrar?

Nothing on the document made any suggestion that you were paying for your organizations domain registration, and given you stated you didn't know where your organization's domain was registered, it seems to me that before you pay anything for your Domain Registration you make sure the company you are paying registers domains which we explicitly stated we do not do.

    Customer stated ..
    - Not knowing where my domain was registered I paid it
    - Today I realized my domain was registered elsewhere
    - Though I never saw it on the notice sent to me
These are actions on the customers part, not ours. We are not posing and taking advantage of numerous people, this customer is blaming us for their mistake. Even their last statement is incorrect. The receipt shows they paid on 5/31/22 but there is nothing whatsoever showing that multiple notices were sent to him. The receipt shows that a single payment was made on a single date. What on the receipt shows that multiple notices were sent to the customer as claimed?

We will provide a refund per the refund policy found on our website.

While I do believe this company intentionally makes their mailers looks like a bill that most likely fools a lot of people into sending them money, reading the mailer in full does provide the information needed to know that this is an advertisement and not a bill required to keep your domain name active. I did initially think this mailer was a bill until I read it in full, as anyone should do before cutting a $288 check. My issue though, is that the customer service email listed on the mailer does not exist. So my polite request to remove myself from their mailing list could not be delivered. I tried twice from two emails and checked their provided email address 5 times to make sure I had it right. I tried to contact you directly to remove myself from your mailing list, but you provided a customer service email on your mailer that came back as address not found. So here I am, asking you to remove me from your mailing list. Any future letters received from you will be marked refused and return to sender.

I'm filing this complaint to help save other people from this fraud! Every year I have to catch this fraudulent bill to ensure it does NOT get paid; it almost slipped by again this year. We are sent something that looks like a legitimate bill for $228, pretending to be our domain host. I handle my own domain registration and have never worked with this company, they are a fraud preying on those who don't know better.

This company is a total scam and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law! We have never used them and we never will, they send us (and our affiliates) bills for $288 every year knowing full well we have never done business with them.

    they are total scumbags!

These guys are posing as the web hosting and registrar for my domain. not until i called to see why did they mention it was a solicitation.

We are not a domain registrar or a web host.
This is a solicitation which is stated in the mailers that we send out.

    Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/08/31) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
They clearly appear and poise and misrepresent themselves to be the register of people's domains. Which is why they have accepted $288.00 of people money and then refunded it time and time again. This is terrible marketing that had caused tons of working class people time money and energy
