I’ve been in constant touch with this company to remove my information from their site for over a year.

I’ve followed their instructions repeatedly and they refuse to remove my personal information. This may jeopardize my life and health.

This is the only site on the internet that refuses to remove your information on request.

I will not supply them with the personal information they requested especially these days when IDs are for sale and your identity cards are too valuable.

What can be done? Should I file a police report?

There are numerous complaints similar to mine.

Because LocateFamily.com is unable to ascertain the identity of an individual making a request to remove information, LocateFamily.com will only remove information if the individual making the request can prove that the information in question refers to himself/herself. To do this LocateFamily.com requires that the individual provide a photograph or scanned image of a valid piece of REASONABLE identification showing the same name (and address information) as that which is to be removed. REASONABLE identification is not formal government issued ID, but is instead something like a business card, statement, invoice or mailing label showing the name and address. This ID should be e-mailed to LocateFamily.com via [email protected]. Once it is received, LocateFamily.com will indicate in its records that the ID has been received for a given e-mail address and will promptly remove the information. This means that any future requests (should the information inadvertently be re-displayed) using the same e-mail address for the same information will be processed without delay. DO NOT SEND GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID. The type of identification we require would be ANY LEGITIMATE DOCUMENT THAT CAN REASONABLY PROVE YOUR IDENTITY. This could include a copy of a bill, mailing label, business card, etc. Please understand that these measures have been introduced to prevent abuse, as we have no other way of confirming an individual's true identity. These measures have been vetted by our attorneys as a reasonable and lawful means of establishing identity.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. This company is a scam and they are extorted me by demanding I supply them with my drivers license and other very important documents to delete my information from their site internet. This is extortion and blackmail and this information must be removed immediately for my families safety.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  I have consulted my lawyer and what this company is doing is in violation of my rights and law. Every single legitimate data company will remove your data upon request with no demand for additional information. I’ve investigated this company and no matter how much information you send them they ask for more. They are illegally acquiring data via extortion. Since they refuse to comply I will move against them legally. They have 24 hours to comply before my lawyers begins litigation.

This website is doxxing my personal information. I demand that they remove it immediately, entries 21 through 30, on the following page: ************************************************** I reached out to this website after carefully following their opt out process, and they repeatedly tried to get more and more information from me, including things like utility bills and driver's license. This is nothing but fraud and a phishing scheme. Their website privacy policy and legal disclaimer MAKES NO MENTION OF THIS and it's clear this is simply to stop you from opting out. It's incredibly disgusting. I demand they honor my opt out request, or I will continue pushing this issue by hiring an attorney to sue them for reckless endangerment and contacting the Attorney General of my state to launch an investigation into this illegal behavior.

LocateFamily.com is trying to extort MORE PERSONAL INFORMATION FROM ME as a type of phishing scheme. I demand that they remove my information RIGHT NOW. Their privacy policy and legal disclaimer on THEIR website makes no mention of needing to provide additional personal data. I have followed their opt out procedure VERY carefully, and therefore am rejecting their response and will continue to DEMAND that they remove my information IMMEDIDATELY. Continued doxxing and safety endangerment is a felony and they will be held accountable if they do not COMPLY with honoring their own privacy policy.

My personal information, such as full name, address, and telephone number, among other information, is being displayed publicly without my consent on the website locatefamily.com. I urged this company to remove my personal information immediately due to the fact that I have an open case with local law enforcement as my family and I are being stalked by an individual who is not well. locatefamily.com, a company I had no former knowledge of, and have never done business with, is requiring me to verify my ID through personal documents. I refuse to provide personal documents to an unknown company who is displaying my personal information. I tried to opt out but they make it extremely difficult and it's completely unethical. When you try to verify that you're not a robot, all of their ads completely cover the verification symbols so it's impossible to do. Then when you try to opt out they ask for all kinds of personal information again and make it very difficult, claiming you have to seek a lawyer or that you have to go to the notary and get a document. This is completely unethical. The company should honor everyone who asks for their personal information to be deleted from their website. They put instrument to pull obstacles in front of people who want to try to opt out and this should be illegal.

I submitted a request to have my personal information removed and received a response saying that I need to provide identification. Per the response “ Reasonable identification could be something like a copy of a mailing label from junk mail, an invoice, a business card, etc. that shows the address of the information to be removed. DO NOT provide government issued ID as this would be inappropriate.” I think requesting any of the above that they specified as “reasonable identification” is inappropriate and while they obtained the information from voter records, they’re making people jump through hoops to have their personal information removed. I would like my information to be removed from this website.

This is the same response I received via email.  I believe that requiring someone to provide personal information in order to have one’s information removed from a website is an overstep.  I’ve requested to have my information removed from numerous websites and none of them have ever required me to provide them with personal information in order to do so.  Additionally, I do not trust that the additional personal information someone provides for this process will not be added to the website.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.
The personal information of ****** ***** ****** is being held hostage by LocateFamily.com likely for the purpose of selling adds. By advertising the personal information of ****** ***** ******, LocateFamily.com is jeopardizing the safety of ****** ***** ****** for the benefit of only LocateFamily.com. LocateFamily.com does not have permission to use any information relating to or otherwise connected to the names ****** ***** ****** and/or ****** ******. Verification of identity appears to be a phishing attempt to harvest more of my personal information to further benefit ONLY LocateFamily.com. If this behavior is not illegal, it should be. LocateFamily.com is using my information without permission and likely for monetary gain. The only way to keep such an endeavor existing is to retain and harvest more information without permission.

      Regards,

Because LocateFamily.com is unable to ascertain the identity of an individual making a request to remove information, LocateFamily.com will only remove information if the individual making the request can prove that the information in question refers to himself/herself. To do this LocateFamily.com requires that the individual provide a photograph or scanned image of a valid piece of REASONABLE identification showing the same name (and address information) as that which is to be removed. REASONABLE identification is not formal government issued ID, but is instead something like a business card, statement, invoice or mailing label showing the name and address. This ID should be e-mailed to LocateFamily.com via *********************.

LocateFamily.com is a FREE service which is intended to bring people together in a positive manner. If you have found that your information has been displayed again on LocateFamily.com after you requested that it be removed, it is most likely because of the regular updates performed by LocateFamily.com to keep the web site up to date. Although we cross reference any updates against a database of names that have been removed, it is possible that because of a variation in the spelling of the names, some information gets through, and as such, despite all our well intentioned attempts to prevent removed information from being re-displayed. We will continue to make every effort possible to respect your desire to have your information removed from LocateFamily.com. If this ever occurs again, please do not hesitate to resubmit a request to have the information removed again. We apologize for any unintentional inconvenience this may have caused you. We thank you for your anticipated understanding. LocateFamily.com

Locatefamily.com is showing my name and address at the following URL: ***********************************************

Additional names and addresses are shown, but I am specifically interested in the removal of my record, with my name and address in Long Beach, CA.

I have submitted a request for the removal of my name from this page to Locatefamily.com.

Then I received an email requesting additional information, such as my name and address on some document. I do not wish to provide this company any additional information about myself. They did not ask for my permission in putting up the original address and I don't see why I should provide more information to them. Can you please help me with the removal of my name and address from their site?

      Thank you.
