  Read the reviews!!! They get you to sign a contract and then cancel it WITH NO NOTICE!! if they don't like the rate you got locked in at. My rate was for 3 years, they cancelled after 9 months and said "there is really nothing you can do about it". After THEY switched me to PECO, not me, my first electric bill increased 350 dollars a month and now that all the electric rates are so high I can't do anything to decrease it. This is crushing me financially.

  The salesperson from New Wave Energy promised that they could beat National Fuels gas price per therm and would NEVER be higher than that of National Fuel, so I switched 6 natural gas accounts to them for an apartment complex in March of 2021. The first few months were a little lower than National fuel but then over the next 8 months New Wave Energy gouged my business with outrageous increases month over month. By the time I realized it, New Wave Energy had charged me more than $10,000 more than National Fuel would have during the winter of 2021-2022. I complained to the company, and they said it would cost $500 to terminate my contract. They ended up waiving the termination fee but it still took 2 months to get switched back to National Fuel which cost my business even more money.
  DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, believe what this company tells you they can do. Don't make the costly mistake that I did.

  As others have mentioned, they lure you in with a low upfront rate. Their contracts are written in a way that allows them to raise the rates to whatever they want after the initial rate ends, but the contract ensures that you're tied to the contract and cannot leave without paying exorbitant penalties.
  
  My account was signed up for electric at $0.06/kwh for 3 months. After that term ended, they increased the rates to $0.199/kwh and then added various surcharges to make the total cost near $0.30/kwh (2.5 times higher than competitive current market rates). They blame everything on rising energy prices but ignore the fact that their rates aren't even close to being competitive.
  
  When I complained to them, they offered me a new contract (with a new term limit of course) for a competitive fixed rate. But, the contract explicitly states that they can add a surcharge for "profit margin" at their sole discretion.
  
  In addition, the fine print states that their early termination fee is equal to whatever they "propose" the rest of your contract to be worth to them. Plus, the contract auto-renews for a 12-month variable rate contract (e.g. they choose the price) if you don't specifically end the contract in the way they state.
  
  Their employees are relatively nice to talk to, but the company itself is unethical and underhanded.
