I tried to get a personal loan in my name last few days ago and I got denied. When I got a copy of my credit report, I saw things on there that were inaccurate. Inquiries that are not mine were on my report as well as accounts that I never opened, addresses I never resided and variations of my name such as ***** * ******** ***** * ********** ***** ******** ***** ********. I also found this account that I believe not mine:
Acct name: DNF ASSOC (Original Creditor: ** ******* ***** ** **)
acct no. ****************
date opened 11/01/2024
balance $1,565.00
I am not liable for this debt and I do not have a contract with:
Company: DNF ASSOCIATES
Address: **** * ****** **** ***** *** ********** ** ***** Tel No: ***** ********
Police Report and FTC Affidavit are attached with this complaint together with dispute letter sent to the bureaus and the authorization for release of information. I also filed complaints thru CFPB.

DNF Associates, LLC (Hereinafter, "DNF") has received the above referenced complaint, which has been forwarded for investigation and response. Upon receipt of the complaint, the Account in question was placed in a temporary cease status. To clarify; DNF is a passive debt buyer that purchases charged off receivables and outsources them to collection agencies and/or Attorneys to recover past due amounts. We do not have the ability to open lines of credit nor perform collection services or accept payments. Ms. ********** ************* ** ** account ending in **** (Hereinafter, "the Account") was purchased from ******* ****** in October of 2024. The Bill of Sale from that purchase, along with a letter sent to Ms. ******** advising her of the sale has been attached to this response. The ******* ****** Account agreement is also attached, I have circled the section "Transfer and Termination of your Account", below in an excerpt: We may assign your Account or amounts you owe on your Account to any other person at any time and the assignee will take your place under the Agreement with respect to all agreements and interests transferred. You must pay the assignee and otherwise perform your obligations under the assigned agreements and interests. The Account in question was opened with Ms. ********' social security number, birthdate, email address of ********************** and mailing address of *** ********* ** ******* ** ****** The Account was opened on 11/20/2022 and was charged off due to delinquency on 09/26/2024 with a balance of $1,565.49. Because of the extensive account history and the information being linked to Ms. Repress, we do not find the Account to be invalid in nature and we find no error in our reporting. The account in question is updated as "dispute" as required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). If Ms. ******* would like to discuss how to resolve the amount owed, she may contact our office during business hours, and we will place the Account with a Third Party collection agency to collect on our behalf. I had an account with ****** Credit card. I misplaced the card, so I can not give you the card number. I was told that the card went into collection. Meanwhile, I paid the card off. I am thinking it was not reported to ****** (******* Credit Card). I was given the phone number ###-###-####, and there I spoke with a rep who stated he could not find my account. The rep gave another phone number, ###-###-####. It's a recording. I can never speak to anyone. I gave my Social Security Number. The recording states they do not have my account. I have gone back in forth with ****** Credit Card. Another number is ###-###-#### . I just want to resolve this problem I am having, but getting the run around. Not sure what other information you need. I asked for the account number, but was told to only give my social security number. I will give it if you ask for it. I am unable to provide the correct amount. I am thinking they said $600.Business Response

The first time I ever heard of this company was when I was alerted that something was added to my credit report.I contacted TransUnion about the validity of this item and received no just explanation. I then sent a certified letter in Dec 2023 to DNF to validate the item posted on my report.I received no response. I then contacted TransUnion again in Jan 2024 and they won't give me any copies of the disputes I submitted unless requested by an attorney because DNF filed a civil lawsuit in Oct 2024.TransUnion removed the item off my report on 8/8/24 because they never received validated the debt.DNF filed a civil suit in Oct 2024 eventhough they never validated the debt and it was removed! Now DNF continues to bombard me with requests that they're not entitled to because they violated FDCPA.They have violated FDCPA and still persist on pursuing a civil case against me.I'm 64 and this situation has brought many sleepless nights for me.I sent the discovery responses letting them know they never validated the debt and I'm still being harassed.I purchased a legal plan that I didn't need to help me with this however there are no lawyers in my area to assist.I contacted a pro Bono agency and my case wasn't selected.I need this business to drop the civil case and let me live my life in peace,I can't take it anymoreBusiness Response

Ms. ********* Sallie Mae account ending in **** (Hereinafter, "the Account") was purchased from Sallie Mae in January of 2023. The Bill of Sale from that purchase is attached.
The Account in question was opened with Ms. ********* social security number, birthdate, email address of *******@aol.com and mailing address of **** ****** **** Apt. ** ********* ** 3**06.
The Account was opened on 2/25/20** and was charged off due to delinquency on 12/31/2022 with a balance of $15,678.65. The last payment and/or credit applied to the Account was on or around 7/29/2022 in the amount of $920.00. Billing statements, Promissory Note and Truth and Lending statement to support this have been attached to this response.
Ms. ******* had opportunities to resolve her outstanding balance with any of the several collection agencies that we placed with the account with, she did not. DNF's final process is, if applicable, place with an Attorney firm to resolve the balance owed. In regard to Ms. ******* not receiving validation, we did provide all of the media attached to her on 1/3/2024 via email as requested and she would have received the same from the law firm.
On 4/3/2023, DNF Associates, LLC placed a Tradeline on Ms. ********* Trans Union credit report. As a passive debt-buyer and current creditor of the Account, DNF Associates, LLC holds the right to do so in accordance with 15 U.S. Code § 1681b:

Validation of debt wasn't sent to me within 30 days of my request. If they did so they need to provide proof of that. Also what about the information I requested in my letter that several collection agencies tried to collect this balance? They can't make false statements and not provide proof of such. I'm not sure why I thought contacting the BBB would be helpful. Is anyone reading the correspondence from the business? They just keep sending the same response without providing prrof of the things that I've questioned or have asked to see proof for! if this is going to keep going back and forth without them having to provide any proof, I'll just have to see about hiring a lawyer to assist me with this matter!

To clarify; DNF is a passive debt-buyer that purchases charged off receivables and outsources them to collection agencies and/or Attorneys to recover past due amounts. We do not have the ability to open lines of credit nor perform collection services or accept payments.
Ms. ********** **** / ******* / ********* ******** ******** account ending in 8005 (Hereinafter, "the Account") was purchased from *** **** ** ******** (****) in March of 2024. The Bill of Sale from that purchase has been attached to this response as well as an email from **** /******* informing Ms. ******** of the sale. ****/******* did not "Write-off"" the account (forgive the debt) they transferred/sold the debt to DNF Associates. Ms. ***** would only receive a 1099-C if the debt was actually written off or if she settled the account for less than the balance owed and saved more than $600 on the debt.
The Account in question was opened with Ms. ********** social security number, birthdate, email address of ************************ and a mailing address of **** ****** **** ********** ** 37914.
The Account was opened on 02/08/2023 with regular monthly payments applied and was charged off due to delinquency on 02/15/2024 with a balance of $2,693.15. Billing statements to support this have been attached to this response.
On 05/20/2024, DNF Associates, LLC placed a Tradeline on Ms. ********** ***** ***** credit report. As a passive debt-buyer and current creditor of the Account, DNF Associates, LLC holds the right to do so in accordance with 15 U.S. Code § 1681b:

We have updated Ms. ********** credit report as "DISPUTED” as per the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
If Ms. ******** would like to discuss how to resolve the amount owed, She may contact our office and we can place the Account with a third-party collection agency to collect on our behalf.
