I was at my dad's house when some people came to the door talking about gas. I told them my dad wasn't home. They asked to see the gas bill to see if they could do something. They took a picture of it. And then started charging my dad double his gas bill. They talked to me, never to my dad. And never had any agreement with him, whose name is on the bill. They have no right to enroll him in this "green" program in the first place. I call and the call can't be completed. They've been taking my dad's money without any consent or agreement from him at all.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved.

They just forged that document with my father's name on it. My dad wasn't there, and i for sure didn't sign his name. They called yesterday and said they would refund a years worth of charges. From April to April, but he'd still be charged for April and May before it's no longer on the bill. I would like for them to provide the invoice of what those charges were to insure full compensation. they really just made that up!!! I can't believe it.

On February 28th 2025 my wife ******* ******* received the number two phone call of the week claiming to have an urgent matter regarding our Energy Bill and to have our bill and account number available. The phone number was not recognized and seemed highly suspicious so My wife called Consumers Energy to see if they were trying to get a hold of me. When she got a hold of a customer service agent she was informed that we are not contracted with them that we had been switched over to Green Choice Energy for over two years and we never switched or gave consent to this company nor did we sign any contract. Two years ago a man came into our community. The man said he was from the Energy company. And said he asked to see a copy of our last bill. Knowing our community doesn't allow outside companies in our community we where mislead to believe we were required to provide this because we only rent our lot being in a trailer park. He We never signed or agreed to any changes Now two years later we would have never known that we are with Green Choice Energy until my wife called today and asked if they were trying to get a hold of us do to an urgent matter on our account. Michigan Mcl rate is 2.51 and for two years we have been paying 7.99 and 6.99 per Mcl. My wife called Green Choice Energy from the advice from the agent from Consumers Energy to cancel and was told it could take up to two additional billing cycles to regain our services with Consumers Energy. And was given the following Confirmation number from Green Choice Energy ************* We are appalled that we have been paying so much and are seeking answers on if we have legal recourse to retain loss monies from a fraudulent account created by ********************** on our behalf without our permission or consent. We can provide all bills and banking account information shows our payments being made to Consumers Energy not Green Choice Energy. **** and ******* *******

I am writing to address a serious issue that has recently come to my attention regarding my natural gas service. Upon reviewing my utility bills, I discovered that my natural gas service was switched from Consumers Energy to Green Choice Energy in September 2023 without my knowledge, understanding, or consent. This unauthorized switch has resulted in significant financial harm to my family over the past 17 months. The severity of this situation became clear when I compared the rates between the two providers. While Consumers Energy charges $2.51 per Mcf for natural gas, Green Choice Energy has been charging me $6.99 per Mcf a staggering difference of $4.48 per Mcf, or 178% higher than Consumers Energy's rate. This dramatic price difference has placed an unnecessary financial burden on my family. Moreover, I have learned that numerous other customers have reported similar experiences with this company's door-to-door sales practices, suggesting this is part of a concerning pattern.Given these circumstances, I require immediate action to resolve this situation. First, I request the immediate cancellation of my service with Green Choice Energy and reinstatement with Consumers Energy as my natural gas supplier. Second, I demand a full refund of all charges that exceeded Consumers Energy's rates since September 2023, accompanied by a detailed calculation based on my actual usage. Finally, I request written confirmation of both the service termination and the refund calculation, including a clear payment timeline.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I acknowledge that I have found a single missed call on 02/13/2025, but my phone is still showing 'Scam Likely' for the number just like many other numbers which call for car insurance. I haven't received any text msg which would probably help me to identify & call back.

Anyway, I contacted with Green Choice Energy on 01/18/2015, and I was told that my gas supply would go back to Consumer Energy within 2 billing cycles. Additionally, Green Choice Energy agreed to partially refund me for the extra amount I was charged for last 6 months which I agreed. I was told that a cheque will be sent for the refund. But as long as I don't receive & successfully cash out the cheque, I can not confirm if I am satisfied with their effort.

In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Green choice contacted both my natural gas and electric providers and told them I had signed up with Green Choice as my energy supplier. I have never talked or communicated in any way with Green Choice and was not looking to make such a change. I have contacted them to cancel both of these bogus plans, and they have said they will. Peoples gas said it will take one or two billing cycles. The total additional cost to me is no more than a couple of hundred dollars in higher bills, and this is partly my fault for not checking my bills more closely but my complaint is the initial enrollment without my knowledge or consent.

********* knocked on my door at my apartment around 6:30-7pm on Mar. 7, 2024. She told me I was currently being charged extra for my electricity, and that she worked for ***** and all she was doing was having me choose the default local provider. I was rushed through the process of signing up for a service she insisted was run through and by *****, even though the names were different, and she assured me that her company was going through my entire apartment complex (Arrive ***********) to make sure everyone was using the same service, again through *****. My most recent bill reflected that her company was in fact a third party provider, thus negating the equal payment plan I had selected through ***** itself. Had I known that she was unaffiliated with *****, I wouldn't have spoken to her. This is false representation, and nothing good has come from any searches for RPA Energy or "Green Choice Energy" aside from a class action lawsuit. Their website is non functional, they attempt to redirect questions about service through *****, and they have no affiliation as confirmed through ***** itself.

A man came to my door saying he is from Green Choice Energy, representing *** Energy. He began telling me about the *** gas rates in my neighborhood and indicated he could lower these rates. He asked to see my last *** gas bill and began copying down all the pertinent information (i.e. name, address. account number, etc.) to his phone. He then started forcing me to sign things and would not let me read them. I specifically asked what this was doing and if this would increase my utilities cost, and he said it wasn't changing my account and it would not increase my monthly utilities bill. But, per their website and *** website, and the contract which I eventually got to read after he sent it to me and disappeared from sight, this will not only increase my bill, but more than double the rate that I am currently paying. That is false advertising, it is illegal. He made a deliberate misrepresentation. I was not allowed to read the contract. He only sent me the contract after I had already signed it.

A couple of weeks ago, the representative from Green Choice Energy wearing a Residents Energy also claiming they work for Residents Energy knocked on my door to tell me to lower my price. Even though I have switched to a different provider, they stressed me into just help them to change the price. Then a few days later I got an mail from DTE stating I have changed my supplier to Green Choice and charged me 10 dollars because I changed my supplier in the last 12 month more than once. The sales representative never mentioned they work for Green Choice once and insisted they work for Residents Energy with the logo on their clothes.
