    I was signed up for this by someone claiming to be the electric company and they were from Toledo ******* They told me I had to update my information then next thing I know I get a bill with both energy companies charging me. I should only be having Toledo ****** charge me. I was deceived and now taken off my payment plan and now facing possible electric disconnection because of that. I want the 129 refunded and whatever else they have been charging my account the past two months!!

    Green Choice Energy's investigation revealed the following:

    On 4-12-2021 ************************* received a visit from Green Choice Energy via our door-to-door channel. The sales agents that represent Green Choice Energy wear Green Choice Energy branded apparel that includes our logo. The sales agent also wears a badge with photo ID and our customer service number.

    ****************** canceled her enrollment 8/19/2022 and returned to the utility 9/19/2022. To resolve her billing concern, we agreed to a utility price to compare refund for her last 2 billing cycles. She should receive the check within 10 business days.

    On 10/08/22 a door to door person working for green choice energy came to my home claiming to be affiliated with my energy provider DTE. He told me I "have to" show him my gas bill and sign something because "DTE is switching who they get their gas from". I made it clear to him I didn't understand and he assured me it was just something DTE was making its customers do because "they were changing gas providers". After he left I did my own research and realized just like everyone else in these complaints, I had been tricked into signing up to switch my gas to Green Choice Energy when it actually wasn't ever necessary like the employee said it was. What he told me was misleading and manipulative. I attempted shortly after to call Green Choice Energy to cancel this, and they told me "the phone number and account numbers given are not registered to an account yet and it can take 5 to 10 days to register the switch and you can't cancel until it goes through".. Whatever that means. Again, I believe this is misleading. I have read several accounts of other customers canceling this the same day. And the contract clearly states " The account holder, or the person who signed this contract on behalf of the account holder, has ***************************************************************************** verbal notification to RPA Energy, **** d/b/a Green Choice" I attempted verbal notification to no avail. They are just trying to give you the run around from canceling so at least 1 billing cycle goes through with their gas. I've also heard other horror stories of them refusing to cancel for people for 3 whole billing cycles or more. Please resolve this immediately. Documents provided.

    On 10-8-2022 *************************** enrolled with Green Choice Energy via our door-to-door channel. The sales agents that represent Green Choice Energy wear Green Choice Energy branded apparel that includes our logo. The sales agent also wears a badge with photo ID that reads We Are Not the Utility.

    ****************** had buyers remorse and wished to exercise her right to rescind his enrollment with Green Choice Energy. 
    ****************** said he called to cancel shortly after meeting with our agent, he was giving a DNE cancellation number because his account was just enrolled and not yet populated in the system because of the early enrollment.  

    We confirmed the rescission was processed by leaving a voicemail on 10/11/2022 informing that his account will not be enrolled.

    We notified our sales partners not to solicit at this address and added it to our internal Do Not Knock (DNK) list.

    Representatives from green choice energy constantly come to my house trying to get me to show them a copy of my utility bills. They are hostile in their demeanor and when I ask them politely not to come back they state that is not up to them and that they will be back. I'm one more visit from them away from calling the police and filing harassment charges. This companies tactics are extremely intrusive and just wrong.

    These people came to my door completely ignoring my no solicitation sign that is clearly visible and pasted on a full size sheet in a location that makes it impossible to even ring my doorbell or knock on the door without seeing it. Not only that my area actually requires a peddling license for each individual that is out doing door to door sales or not only that, in my area ignoring a no solicitation sign is actually grounds for criminal defiant trespass. After telling the person I wasn't interested they continued on with their script although my local law says that if I have a no solicitation sign or request them to leave that they must leave immediately and peacefully. Continue reading and you will see that he left in a not so peaceful manner and definitely not immediately. Which means I had legal right to bring this company and its employee up on charges but instead I called the company to find remedy and correct it without legal action and they ignored me which makes me want to now initiate legal action. I inform them again that I was not interested and that they can stop lying to me saying that they're from my energy company as my energy company themselves told me never to hand a door-to-door salesman your bill. They continued on. I kept on directing them to my no solicitation sign and even pointed to my camera letting them know that I have now; on camera asked them four times to leave the property that I wasn't interested and that if they did not leave that they would be removed as they are now trespassing. Finally the young man got very nasty with me and even started cursing at me in front of my 8-year-old daughter saying "yo for real for real, I don't give a **** about them cameras. How you going to threaten to call the police for me doing my job? Them cameras don't mean **** to you catching these hands. Watch who the **** you're talking to" the young man still wouldn't leave until I threatened the police.

We've been in contact with ************** to see if he can provide specific information about the agent to see if we can identify who may have visited him and address the agent directly. We have also sent notification to our sales partners not to solicit at this address and added it to our internal Do Not Knock (DNK).

    Green choice energy representative came to my home on 8/21/22 stating she was from consumers energy stating that the neighbors in the area are complaining about the spike in electric bill. She stated she was wanting to make sure it was correct. She took my account number and switched me to your company **********************.. I want my account canceled as I was not informed that I was getting account with green choice energy and being switched from previous supplier. I received text regarding terms and conditions and unable to get in touch with any representatives to terminated contract

    This is a response to case ID ********.

    On August 21, 2022 ***************************** was visited by a sales agent representing Green Choice Energy. The sales agent was wearing Green Choice Energy branded apparel, and had a badge and photo ID identifying her as working on behalf of Green Choice Energy. 

    Furthermore, this case states the sales agent claimed they were from Consumers Energy. This enrollment took place is ************, and Consumer's Energy is not a utility in **. We are not certain of the relevance in this matter. When we questioned the sales representative she stated ************** was aware that she was asking ************** if she were interested in enrolling with Green Choice Energy not Consumer's Energy. 

    ************** chose to enroll with Green Choice Energy and authorized the switch via contract and third party verification. Both the contract and recording are attached. ************** had buyers remorse and chose to cancel the enrollment.

    ************** has the right to rescind her cancellation and her accounts will not be enrolled with Green Choice Energy.

    I took a look at my bill online for ****. I am enrolled in a payment plan which costs $67 a month. When I looked today the billing amount was $133.78. A few months ago a man and girl dressed in **** attire came to my door requesting to have a look at my bill because something with the building had been outdated and they were trying to make improvements. He had me fill out a survey and then I received a call from someone within their office to confirm that I had met with a worker. I was never told that completing this survey meant that I would be signing up for another provider nor have my meter changed. Now I am being billed for two electric companies through my **** account which seems impossible to me to begin with. I contacted both **** and the Green Choice Energy (RPA) in which GCE told me that theyll look into but Ill need to pay the full amount for the next two billing cycles. **** tried saying that they sent a letter about giving a different price however sent it to the wrong address and decided to add the higher price without confirmation. Both companies want me to pay the full amount twice, which I will not be doing. I have turned off autopay and will only be giving the $67 as it is supposed to be. This company was very misleading and **** is no better than they are.

    On June 3rd, 2022 ********************************* was visited by a door-to-door sales agent representing Green Choice Energy. The sales agents are required to wear Green Choice Energy branded apparel and a photo id,lanyard and badge branded Green Choice Energy.

    The verification and contract, both attached, also state that ****************** is agreeing to enroll with Green Choice Energy.

    On August 16th, 2022 we spoke with ****************** and in order to resolve the complaint amicably Green Choice Energy agreed to a refund of $110.78.

    The account returned to the utility as of 8/29/22.

    There are no early termination fees associated with this cancellation.

    On 8-15-2022, a man knocked on my door at around 6 pm and claimed that he needed to see my consumer energy bill because there was some kind of overcharge and he needed to take care of it. The man said he represents Green Choice Energy wearing Green Choice Energy branded apparel and a badge with a photo ID that includes the Green Choice Energy logo. He got my phone number and sent me a text to sign a contract. I realized it was a kind of scam and told him to come back another time and slammed the door. It's a scam. I want them to delete all of my information and forbid them to use my information in any way. I do not want to switch energy providers. Do not enroll anything with Green Choice Energy. Please stop pressuring and scamming people in our area.

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

     

    The employees from Green Choice Energy forcibly operated my phone and stated that they were checking the gas overcharging problem but in fact they were trying to  sign the contract with Green Choice Energy using my phone without my permission as attached picture showed. This is rude and illegal behavior. 

     I don't accept the business's reponse. They didn't even say sorry.

    Hi Green Choice Energy, 

    As a company, please take responsibility for your employee's rude behavior and apologize to me.

    Please note that he was scamming me. The only thing he stated at that moment was he needed my phone and phone number to check the overcharge.That was just an excuse. I told him I dont have any overcharge and I dont need anything from him. He still insisted on taking my phone. After he took my phone, what he was really doing was secretly operating my phone to sign up the contracts instead of checking the overcharge as he stated. If I hadn't snatched the phone at the last second, he would have done the contract without my knowledge.
