I was signed up for this by someone claiming to be the electric company and they were from West ****. They told me I had to update my information then next thing I knew my electric bill went up I didnt think much of it in the beginning due to the fact that I thought it was just an increase in price or due to the products I was using. After receiving a bill that was more than double my normal bill I realized the statement had both energy companies charging me. I should only be having West penn charge me. I was deceived and now taken off my payment plan and now facing possible electric disconnection because of that. I want the money refunded and whatever else they have been charging my account the past 12 months!! I never agreed to be paying more for my energy bill from them. I feel as though the rep that came to my door, deceived me and lied about who they were with. I have friends there in this apartment complex with West Penn and they have sent me their billing statement so I could compare. Their Billing statements do not show green choice energy anywhere and that is how I found out that I was being charged for both companies. My bill from February 17, 2022 shows what my bill should look like. My current bills have both West Penn and Green choice energy which is incorrect.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

While I have accepted their resolution, I do not agree that I willing fully accepted to transfer me service. The supposed contract from the business provided is not a fully contract with my signature and acceptance of service transfer. It is also addressed to ************ to which is incorrect information as well as I am not married. I will be sure to warn everyone I know about this company as they are a scam, trying to charge people double or even more than double their original electric price. This business needs to be shut down.
    Sincerely,

Someone by the name *********************** knocked on my apartment complex door stating he was with DTE energy and they had a partnership to help lower energy as their gas supplier. This person went to every person in our apartment complex. I was told that everyone in our building needed to sign off and that our bill would be lowered. Upon reading the signed document it stated that my bill was being transferred to a new company. I called the owners of ************************ and they stated that this individual did not have permission to be on our property. I called the number associated with Green house energy and cancelled. The rep stated they could not provide me with anything in writing stating that my account was closed and that my personal information would be disposed of. Total SCAM. I will be seeking legal representation if I do not receive a cancellation notification.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. Their Green choice employee did not have ********* as they indicated. I feel stupid for trusting any individual who comes to my door now. Do not lie and say that you work for DTE and give me a fake name. If anything shows up on my account for billing or if my personal information is stolen, your employee is the only person who would have had access as he grabbed my phone, my personal property, out of my hands. I nearly called the police. If your company contacts me again to enroll I will bring charges for harassment. Your company should not do business, period.

    With the deepest regret,

12/7/2022 I was approached by a man at the front door of my building stating he was with **** and he wanted to make sure our bill was being charged correctly. Turns out he worked for Green Choice not PECO and he attempted to sign me up for their services. I received a text message with a link to sign a contract which I did not open. He had a badge on but nothing stating he was with Green Choice and I asked him 2-3 times to confirm if he was with PECO and he answered yes. This is extremely shady business practice and I'm hoping I did not actually get signed up for anything.

Today a man came to my door explaining that my gas company had complaints of overcharging customers. He said that they were giving reimbursements for the over charge. At the time, my daughter fell and started crying, I was busy with her and trying to listen to this man. He told me that all he needed was my gas bill and a signature to get my reimbursement. He also told me I would get a phone call to answer a couple questions ( I never got the call ). After he left, I looked into this company and seen that many people got the same story that I got and instead was enrolled into an ************* supplier. This man seen that my hands were full with my baby and took my phone to fill out the reimbursement form. I NEVER seen what was filled out. After he gave me my phone back and left, I looked at the text on my phone and it said my contract was ready to sign. I NEVER AGREED NOR SEEN ANY CONTRACT. I did NOT agree to switch my supplier service for gas. He left without giving me any information as to what just happened. I don't have any contract to see what he signed me up for. This is fraudulent and I will contact whoever I have to in order for them to cancel whatever it was that man signed me up for. I want my service cancelled IMMEDIATELY as of today November 17 2022

On 11/17/22 in the evening a door to door worker for Green Choice came to my apartment door claiming that my energy bill was too high and that I could save money by ensuring that Green Choice, who he claimed was the provider for Consumers for my area, provided my natural gas. He then proceeded to sign me up for a contract with Green Choice that was not fully explained or provided to me, claimed it was a fixed rate so that my rate was locked in as long as I stayed with Green choice and stood with me as long as the transaction took place. I was not provided a copy of the contract that I was signing until after I had signed up. I was told to call my gas provider to switch back to my normal service if I desired. After reviewing the contract and realizing I was misled by the salesperson, I called to cancel my service with the service provider of my gas and they could not do so despite what I was told. I then called green choice to cancel and am currently unsure if it was cancelled and related to my gas provider as I intended. I would like to have this service cancelled and for Green Choice to instruct their salespeople to not mislead potential customers, as their rates are significantly higher than the going rates and they mislead customers about saving money.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. However I would like to note that the statement of their text was incorrect. Their agent did not properly explain the contract agreement and blatantly lied about the variable versus fixed rate of the contact. I accept that the resolution is satisfactory but that does not change the predatory business tactics of Green Choice and their misrepresentation of being an agent of my gas company.

    Sincerely,

This business sent a sales rep to my apartment complex to "update" my electric bill. They acted as if they were with Consumers Energy (my gas company) and that I could get a refund on my last bill. They rushed me through a bunch of different questions and eventually sent me a text message to a website that asked for a signature. I started asking questions because this seemed fishy to me, but I was told to "just sign and get my refund". I signed (foolishly) but didn't continue through with the rest of the prompts, whatever those are. I started to feel uncomfortable and asked the "sales rep" to leave. I did research on the company afterwards and saw this was a common tactic they used to get you to switch your gas provider to them. I immediately called my energy company afterwards and asked them to block switching my provider. They said they would put a block up but recommended that Green Choice might have already been in progress to switch me over and to give them a call. I hung with Consumers and gave Green Choice a call, saying I didn't want to enter into any sort of "contract" with them and to block and progress they had made on this. This all happened in the span of ***** minutes. They assured me they blocked the switch, but considering the previous shady tactics I have no way of confirming that. At not point was I explained that they were trying to enter me into a contract with them. This was presented as a simple refund on my bill. I do not want to switch my gas provider, I want to do absolutely zero business with them.

This business sent a sales rep to my apartment complex to "update" my electric bill. Instead, they enrolled me into a contract that was not explained, nor was I given a full copy of the contract to review prior to signing. The best part is when I was filling out some of their forms, there is a question asking "Is this voluntary?" and when I pushed back on that question to the sales rep who accosted me in my home, I was told to "Just check yes." and when someone from their verification system called me to verify my answers, I answered truthfully and said that this was done under duress and direct pressure from the sales rep standing two feet away from me, but that did not void the electronic answer given and the verification continued. Reaching out to the business to cancel the contract I was involuntarily enrolled in has been difficult and getting to speak to someone with authority has been impossible (so far). This business's sales tactics are at best harassment, and predatory at worst. The sales reps have been milling around my apartment complex for about a week and have accosted my fianc (who lives with me, but is not the account holder for the utility in question) two-three times asking to see her utility bill to which she has politely declined their services. And after speaking to our friends in the complex, they seem to try to corner people at inopportune times when people are more likely to say yes to anything to get them to go away. Attached is the electronic form of verification and a copy of the contract I was enrolled in sent after-the-fact for you to review and do whatever you please with.

On 11/8/2022 Green Choice Energy called ***** to discuss and address his concerns and ask for further details on his description of his interaction with the sales representative. ***** stated his fianc was accosted and that he told the third party verifier that he was responding under duress yet she continued with the call. Green Choice Energy takes both of these allegation very seriously. When speaking with ************************, he said he willfully enrolled so the agent would leave his door step. He did not state to the verifier that he was responding under duress. No one accosted his fianc but he would like for the agents not visit his apartment complex. ************************ stated that when he reviewed the Welcome packet, Contract and terms he called to exercise his right to rescind his enrollment with Green Choice Energy. He called our customer service department to cancel on 11/7/2022 and was giving a confirmation number therefore his account will remain with his utility.

On 11/1 a man wearing a Consumers Energy ID Badge, claiming to be from Consumers Energy came to my house saying Consumers Energy had over charged me and he was there to verify my info so I could get a refund. He was carrying a clipboard with the Consumers Energy logo. He opened several pages on my phone (I legit thought he was from Consumers Energy) and somehow switched my service. After he left I noticed he didnt close a page and it said green choice energy. I called Consumers Energy and they verified that this person was NOT from them. He switched my service WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT! Ive seen the responses from green choice, and Ill say this before they start their liesthe man SPECIFICALLY said he was from Consumers Energy. He was NOT in any green clothing, nor did he have ANY green choice logo anywhere, his ID badge said Consumers Energy and had the ** logo. He was carrying a clipboard that said Consumers Energy. I immediately canceled the scam service. If I get charged ANY amount of money from this SHADY company, I will get a lawyer!!!

This is in response to complaint ID ********

Green Choice Energy's investigation revealed the following:

On 10-12-2022 ****************** received a call from Green Choice Energy to discuss her bill and concerns with the supply charges for her electric and gas account.****************** was satisfied with the resolution, she will receive a price to compare refund. ****************** should receive it within 10 business days. We also explained that the utility still reads the meter and if she out of the home during the week, and believes that her usage should be lower that will have to be addressed by the utility. She understood.

**** electric and gas accounts were canceled.

We notified our sales partners not to solicit at this address and added it to our internal Do Not Knock (DNK) list.

    Thank You,
