      It makes me sort of sick to think about how much I was overcharged for all the months I had Smart Energy. I also never got any gift cards that were promised. I wont fall for something like this again. Im disappointed in myself.

      I called when I got one of their flyers for a **** card. I looked it over and realize you have to sign up for 6 months before you ever see a **** card if ever after that even. Then I noticed it said rights to compare. This listed the current rate my electric company is charging me per kilowatt hour. Which is Ameren in my area. That rate is ****** per kilowatt hour as of January 2023 January 1. Ameren Supply prices that up to 800 kilowatt hours for incremental usage exceeding 800 kilowatt hours it goes to ***** per kilowatt hour. ***** at Smart Energy wanted my PIN number I told her I don't have one and I would like to know what their rates are per kilowatt hour right now. She told me that their rate per kilowatt hour is ****** dollars per kilowatt hour. And that doesn't change when you go over 800 kilowatt hours of usage that's what it's going to be across the board 14 cents per kilowatt hour. This rate is horrible as if ameren's rate isn't horrifying enough compared to a year ago at 6.7 cents per kilowatt hour. If you went with Smart Energy your bill would increase from $300 to $600 a month just for your electricity alone. These people are thieves and should not be allowed to operate in the state of ********. They are an energy clearing house on Upper ****** Drive just an office taking your money

      Frauds. Won't send me the **** gift card. Including the $200 they promised. The $100 still hasn't arrived either since September. Be aware. They keep making excuses.

      I honestly wish I could give a less than 1 star review. DO. NOT. USE. SMARTENERGY!!!They will tease you by claiming your rates will be even throughout the year, and that your bill will be $XXX per month. For ** it was $178. Some months would normally have been more, some less, so we thought a flat rate would be better for our situation. We signed up, got the $100 gift card offer, went through all the steps. Six months later our bill was over $700 PER MONTH despite not using more power. This company will do everything they can to trap you in, get you comfortable, and then financially ruin you. They will respond to this with a generic "Oh I'm sorry for you experience, call **!" response, and then when we call (again) nothing will come of it. Our power company cannot help us, we are trapped by this predatory company. They should not be allowed to be in operation.

      Stay away!!! Any discount/rebate/gift card they offer will be cancelled out once they hike up their rates and take advantage of you. Our last 2 electric bills were $700 and $1000...for a 2-person household. It is our mistake for not keeping our eyes on our bill and not cancelling them sooner...extremely frustrating...my husband was on the phone with them for hours and not a single representative could explain why their rates were astronomical.
