      I called today in an absolute panic regarding my new variable rate plan (27.90kWh). I almost fell off my seat. My fault for not really paying attention to my renewal notice last year (I'll have my renewal date pinned to the wall as of today). In the meantime, I apparently signed up with another company thinking it was Smart Energy (the lingo was very confusing and clever). I was about to switch from SmartEnergy because they offered me a better rate. However, when I called and explained everything to *********************** (I pray that spelling is right), he explained everything to me about how I lost my old fixed rate (12 something) and then gave me an offer lower than the other company (Clean Something). I wish I never lost my original rate in the first place, but I will take any deal I could get in this current market and still save the planet! I appreciate ******'s exceptional customer service, being patient and taking interest in my story (35 minutes on the phone).

      This company lies to people just to get a new account. A month ago, I received a card from PECO. I now know it was not PECO, however they had my PECO account number and all the information that PECO would know about me. So I felt safe to continue a conversation. Smart Energy, promise to give me a $100 **** gift card, after I would answer some known questions. After the questions were answered, I was told by the representative *****, to expect my **** gift card in 3-5 business days. I told *****, that I really need that gift card, because I am in need of a coat. The name Smart Energy was not even told to me. If it was I would have turned them down, because I am happy with NRG. A month of more has gone by and I still did not receive the gift card. On 11/25, I received a welcome letter by Smart Energy, and a paper check that said I have to be a client for 6 months and I need to attach my 6th bill in order to receive the $100. I was extremely hurt. So I called the company to cancel my account. The Representative **** rather debated with me about what was said by *****. I told him to get the recording, because I have the conformation #, which is *******. I just wanted out. **** said my account will be closed immediately, So I called today 11/26 to make sure my account was closed, but it wasnt. So I was angry and the next Rep, told me that **** was on his break, and he could not get on the phone, then he hung up on me. I called again and this time the Rep name was *******. ******* told me that my account would be closed in a week. Smart Energy is a fraudulent company, that continues to lie to people. I just want out of that company.No questions asked. Please help me. I dont know what else to do.

      They practice false advertising and the giftcard part is a joke. I received a postcard in the mail with a pin number. Called the number on the postcard. I told the person that I am already a customer (I didn't realize then that I'm with CleanEnergy) and the person CONFIRMED that I was a customer and told me I would recieve a $200 **** giftcard within 1-3 business days; that my kwh will remain the same for 12 months. Called back 7 days later and got a whole different story. Was told my switch from Pepco would be November 15th, and that I would receive a $200 giftcard after 6 months, and what will come in the mail at this point is a welcome package. My experience was totally disappointing and I would not recommend this scam to anyone. SMH #1toomanynegativereviews
