1 star**************** is horrible. The agents provide false and inaccurate information. When I ask to speak to an American, they say that the Americans are busy. No one should have to endure this level of incompetence.Review fromLynn S

1 starBoth my parents recently passed away and I had to call Metropolitan Life regarding their life insurance policies. The man I talked to right away tried selling me a life insurance policy, he requested my social security number and my bank account information. I told him REPEATEDLY that I was NOT interested in getting life insurance for myself, just that I wanted to verify if my parents policies were still active. The jerk hungup when I told him I was NOT giving him any of my personal information.Review fromJeff K

1 starMetLife Total Control Account is possibly the most misleading name MetLife could have chosen for its Life Insurance Beneficiary access portal. When my father passed away I filed a ********** was approved with MetLufe TCA within ************************************************ the least customer oriented way possible should have been when I received checks (or drafts as they call them). When I requested a debit card as to have more readily accessible control over the account I was met with one of the worst examples of customer service I have ever experienced. I initially requested the debit card on 05/27/25. After 3 weeks had passed & I still hadn't received the card, I called customer service. Essentially I was told 3 weeks isn't long, I've had customer's not get their card for months & to call back next week. I called the following week & was told there was no record of me ever ordering the card or who I spoke with on either of the 2 occasions. So, I ordered the card again & vowed to bug them until I got it. Well, 10 days after that contact I still hasn't received the card, so I called again. This time I spoke to a *** with "debit card svcs". She was perhaps the most rude, unhelpful, & abrasive *** I had spoken to yet. She told me my argument wasn't with debit card svcs but with MetLife. So I called MetLife. When I did they told me that they had no control over the debit card process & was transferred back to debit card svcs. This time I was told that the card was printed yesterday (06/27/25) & will be mailed out today. When I asked why it took 5 weeks & 5 phone calls, no one could provide me with an answer. I decided to forgo their attractive interest rate & withdraw all funds. Their sole interest is in hanging on to the life insurance funds as long as possible, not to provide customer service. What a world of difference when I presented my credit union with a 6-figure deposit. They actually do what they can to earn & keep my business & treat me with respect.Review fromJared D

Worst membership service I've ever signed up for. I was thrilled to sign up and pay for MetLife which is offered through my company to use for securing a DV **************** from someone who assaulted me back in July 2024, being told that ****************s are fully covered, only to find out after signing up and getting locked in that they're not. Wasn't even sure where to start with this review but figured it would be better to post one to help others stay away and avoid doing business with MetLife. After being told I was fully covered for **************** services, the misinformation soon began in January 2025 where I had to reach out to MetLife as every attorney included on the MetLife list either told me its not fully covered or didn't have time to take on my case. Leading me to call in and get partnered with several ***resentatives who either try to send you on your way without any help or would partner me with an attorney only for the attorney to reject me and then send me back to MetLife, even quoting to me "I have concerns with your MetLife coverage and not sure why MetLife told you were covered for a protection order..." Then after escalating, a ML *** got me partnered with an attorney who wasted 3 months of my time only to drop me thus quoting "I'm terminating my services with you due to growing concerns on your ML coverage." After being dropped and being left with no progress or protection order, I then had to call back again to ML for the 10th time only to get the run around again. The *** I got partnered with reached out to several attorneys which all expressed the same concerns, only for him to leave me with one who was very nice, but also not very helpful as she also told me that my ML plan doesn't cover **************** Motion For Revision which is needed for my specific case, and telling me there isn't else much she can do for me. Now this has left me with wasting money for a service I can't even use and I will be canceling ML soon. Horrific!MetLife, Inc.

1 starReally want to leave Negative Stars and hope this company goes under. These folks are some of the most misleading and dishonest employees out there which reflects on the company as a whole. After my wife goes on *** for child bonding, for roughly two months, no payments were made to my wife. When calling, they say payments were processed. This was a total lie. Wife confirmed with bank that NO payments were made, pending, rejected. Upon calling Metlife again today, she was told that her claim was denied after APPROVING IT and not saying anything for the entirety of time. The cherry on top is that they now admit that no payments were issued after representatives stated that payments were indeeed issued and confirmed direct deposit information. How can you retroactively deny a PFL leave after providing approval to my wife and telling her HR department that it was approved. Metlife has put my wife through immense stress through all this. On top of that, they can never resolve issues on the same day. They will ALWAYS tell you that they will have a case manager call back or a call back within 24 hours. Every time it exceeded 24 hours and at least one occasion, a week plus of waiting. Employees need to be trained not to blatantly lie to clients and employer needs to revamp their client care processes. Unacceptable on all levels.Review fromJillanne J

I have had two other popular pet insurance companies for the last 12 years and definitely mad a big mistake by going with MetLife!!! When I recused my girl in December, I thought it was so great that this company was offering free insurance for the first 30 days and eagerly signed her up. She has had two procedures done since this time. The first one I had to call over and over for thirty days before anything was resolved and my latest claim, after calling and emailing for the last 32 days has been denied. They stated the condition was a preexisting condition. However, they can't tell me how you received this information since we have no records on her from her past and she has been covered by this company since day one. I will be cancelling this policy, and I will be advising all my friends who are considering getting insurance to not remotely consider this company. Very disappointing!MetLife, Inc.

This company fails in customer service, response time and overall satisfaction. I would NOT recommend anyone get a Short-Term Disability policy through this company. You are consistently misled, lied too, ignored and sent to voice mail that you are not able to leave messages on. Depending on which representative you get will be what answer you receive. I filed a claim over a month ago and my claim was settled, but due to a glitch in their system my payment was not sent. Now they opened a new claim 6/2/25 and I was to get a Case manager assigned to my case within 2 days and per the representative my claim was to be expedited. Well, here we are 10 days later with no answers, no calls and run around from everyone I speak too who can't seem to reach the expedite people. I have NEVER had such horrible service in my life, and I cannot believe this type of service is permitted by a company that is supposed to be good. I also would like to add it is not just me but another employee I work with is having the same issues I am. I have nothing good to say about Metlife. They are a huge disappointment for the money that is spent on their policies.MetLife, Inc.

If I could rate Metlife Life Insurance as a zero, I would. I have not experienced such terrible customer service as theirs in the past. I am the beneficiary of my ex-husbands life insurance policy who sadly passed away unexpectedly. It is difficult enough in life to lose someone and to go through the process of death and to also deal with what comes after. MetLife has shown no compassion or assistance to me in helping me with my claim. Their customer service department is in the Philippine's and is difficult to understand with the language barrier. When I first filed the claim, they sent me paperwork needing additional information. The letter they sent was so poorly written and unclear that it is as if they want you to fail in completing it correctly. Filing a claim as an ex-spouse created my claim to go to a Level 2, whatever that means to me I do not know other than maybe it takes a very long time for them to review and process. My most recent call to follow-up I asked to speak with a supervisor. She was not compassionate or understanding, she came across harsh and more for MetLife than MetLife's customers. She could not and would not give me a timeframe for completion of the review. I asked how can a company not have a given timeframe; how do they rate themselves to know how good of a job they are doing? Do I just sit and wait now for them to take whatever time they need?MetLife, Inc.

I received a letter from MetLife regarding my complaint. The letter reads that they received my inquiry from the BBB, but it looks like there is some confusion. My complaint was regarding me as beneficiary to my ex-husbands policy. Let letter MetLife sent me does not mention any correspondence to the Policy Number my complaint was against. The letter mailed to me from MetLife has to do with a different family member, that I was not writing to the BBB about. It is very strange to me.Review fromSandra G

I have had a Critical Policy with MetLife for 13 years. I was diagnosed with Cancer, had surgery and filed a claim with them. My policy was for *********. They sent me ******** and advised me that my cancer only qualified for 5 percent of my policy. I will be dropping ALL my coverages ( I have several different types of policies with them such as Hospital Indemnity, Accident, AUTO insurance. It will ALL be dropped during open enrollment. I wont be scammed anymore by this company. They got me good for 13 years but they WONT get me for 14. Heads up to anyone using this company, youre gonna be scammed if you need to file a claim. A coworker has *** which is covered ( supposedly ) and hes had his critical policy for TWELVE years and they completely denied him. This is a BAD company!MetLife, Inc.
