I filed a claim back in February because i got injured at home, i was off of work for 4 weeks. It was like a cat and mouse chase trying to get a hold of anyone. Always goes straight to voicemail and no one calls you back. I have made copies of all my paperwork needed for my claim attached them to my claim and snail mailed copies of everything. I went back to work in March, we are now in May and they still haven't paid me my short term disability from when i was off. This company needs to get shut down!

MetLife Dental is a scam. Worst dental insurance company ever. Denydenydeny. This is what they do. Then they lie to you for months about the claim being reviewed a second time and when confronted about it, they say it was a misunderstanding, not a lie. They should not exist. Employers using them obviously do not care about their employees.

I filed a short term disability claim on 03/06/23 and hadn't worked since 03/02/23. After a circus of not "receiving enough documentation" from my Dr., numerous calls to customer service and un returned calls. I got a call last Thursday 04/13/23 at approximately 2pm saying that my case manager was going to call with a decision the next day which was Friday. I was assured that I would get a call letting me know the decision. Fast forward to today 04/18/23 when I called back and was told by the automated system that my claim had been denied. When I was transferred to another customer service representative, he told me that he did not know why I was denied and he'd have whoever my case manager call me back but would try to put me through to her number. I quickly got a message saying that I was transferred to a "non working" number. The killer part was for the couple days I did get paid for before I went on leave was the paycheck that METLIFE took their cut out of, my last paycheck. I won't pay another dime to these crooks. It is almost 5pm and I still haven't heard from anyone. I am going to appeal and then get an attorney. My question is, when they're constantly lying saying they have 5 business days to make a decision, what are their repercussions when they don't? They clearly take their time and nothing is done, no income is coming into my household. Ridiculous

The worst service ever. I have MetLife through my employer and went out for surgery 2/1/2023. I actually contacted them in December to get claim started and give details. After 22 days, they stated I had no claim. Took an additional 8 days to get resolved. The case manager is a joke. Never returns calls, emails. The online portal is never up to date on any given day. The payment was set up for direct deposit back in December, of course that went wrong too. Every time I called, I received a different answer. The very day I went tothe Dr for my checkup after surgery, the claim was suspended? Took an additional 17 days to get that resolved. My Dr ****** even stated in writing to me that they were the most different unorganized company to deal with. I had a notebook of every phone call ever made to them. I have came to the conclusion, if they owe you money, they just don't care and are in no hurry or helpful. Poor service from day one. Run fast.

I contacted a Metlife Annuity Specialist to correct an error in a withdrawal request and was told by a specialist it would probably take 5 days to correct which I was okay with. Of course after 5 days I called for an update and was given the name and phone number of the person who is working on the correction. Every time I called it went to voice mail and I never received a return call. There error has caused a stressful hardship. After calling day after day and speaking to several supervisors, I finally received an apology email, not with good news , but saying it is now going to take her five business days to correct the error which should have been corrected 5 days ago. To date it's been 10 days and I'm still waiting. This certainly not the type of customer service you expect from a large ********************** like **********************.

If there were 0 start, that would better fit this company. The worst ever insurance company I have been dealing with, involuntarily due to my long term disability being administrated by this company.First, they cheated you without telling you the implications of applying SSA benefits. Later it was found out to be for their benefits only. You get the same total amount by SSA and Metlife, which means Metlife pays less, but you will end up paying more taxes on SSA benefits.Second, they tried to "help" you to get SSA for your minor. Later it was found out that Metlife wants to deduct your minor's SSA benefits from their monthly payment. That means again, you get the same amount, but you pay more on your taxes. So, simply decline this, and apply for your minor's benefit in the name of your spouse, then this is your extra money, and it has nothing to do with Metlife.Third, I digged out the policy term, and filed a complained to ********** department of insurance, returned my minor's SSA benefits that I received. So, with the policy statement, Metlife only has the remove my minor's SSA benefits from their offset calculation. Then, their overpayment needs to be recalculated. I have chased them for almost two months for a breakdown of monthly statement so that I can verify the amount I should pay. I called, left voice messages, promised some supervisor would call back me back, emailed, ... so far, after almost another month, nobody every contacted me. a crazy company, on Feb 9th Metlife issued a letter they have removed my minor's SSA benefit from offset calcualtion, and on Feb ******************************************** a letter collecting my debt (overpayment, whose amount is not verified which I have been chasing for months, yet they never reponsed). So I have to file a second complaint to ********** Department of Insurance again.

What can i say I have been very ill since I got COVID the first time in 2020. They have very unfair and unethical business practices. I filed for short term disability through employer 3-4 time except this last time I have been severely ill which hinders me from functioning normally to perform my job at the level I need to. My employer tried terminating me after I filed and was approved for short term disability. Once I was approved for only 5 short weeks I had to wait for my employer to reinstate me back. I was already out on short term disability since 11/2022 and and my employer terminated me 12/8 but reinstated me and it took until last week of Jan to reinstate all my work benefits from open enrollment in OCT/NOV 2022. So for my medical condition I couldn't see my crucial Drs. appointments and infusions I had to get from my oncologist those had to wait until Feb and I'm having to see more specialists. My short term disability was ended on 01/08/2023 which I appeal to Met life and they said give them 45 days to make decision. I sent them some documentation but still waiting to send them more and explain to them in an email that I had more documentation and results I was waiting on so they wouldn't make a decision based on what they had. I also informed them that all of Jan 2023 I couldn't get treatment or see my specialists' because my medical insurance wasn't reinstated until last weeks of Jan so that was very unfair. They have done this to me over and over. I had COVID a second time in August 2022 longer than what they approved me for and I notified them and they totally ignored that I still was sick with COVID and refused to extend my short term disability. Apparently, I have had a crucial additional finding regarding my liver and can't return to work until I can get treatment. But with this denial from Met LIfe my employer said they would be terminated me as soon as I was denied. Met Life has continuously jeopardized my health.

To make a long story short - yes go ahead and get Met Life dental if you feel the need to make a monthly corporate welfare donation. Otherwise do not even consider. Absolutely pathetic. I am cancelling my plan immediately!

Trying to file a simple Life Insurance death claim and cannot speak to someone who understands English and help us. We were initially sent the wrong paperwork, and did not know it until the funeral home submitted. I call and ask to speak with a Supervisor 4x before finally getting someone who claimed to be, who told me what to do and stated he fixed it and give it 7 days. Having to constantly ask them to repeat what they are saying or repeat what you say because of the breakdown in communication due to language barriers is awful! Here we are 3 weeks later and when we call back to check, we are told the original documents are STILL what is being shown and is inaccurate! Unacceptable. You are paid the contractual monies of the policy and are playing games with people during the worst time of their life. How awful to go through a runaround for months while grieving the loss of a loved one. This should not be so difficult. There should be English speaking people available to assist.
