My husband, ****** H. *****, has early Alzheimer's and last year he purchased a trial subscription to The New York Sun. On August 23, 2024 the New York Sun automatically charged $120.00 for an annual subscription that was not authorized. He never received an email notice or phone call that this would happen. We have tried to reach their customer service with no luck. Although they clearly state on their dashboard that the subscription can be cancelled at any time there is no way to reach them. Only "members" which he is not can request a call back. This has caused my husband quite a bit of anxiety as he is not able to cancel. Please check into this for us and ask them to cancel his subscription which is under his email: ******************* Thank you so much for your assistance. ******* ***** - ************ - ****************Initial Complaint

I was unable to use my card because my bank had stopped my ability to use it due to possible fraud charge. I looked at my bank billing statement and noticed that my card had been charged $120 by the New York Sun. I had signed up a ***** a month subscription with no intention of a full years subscription of $120. With no notice, my card was suddenly charged $120 and I cant get a hold of anyone from the ******** Son to cancel my subscription even though ****** says they would happily cancel my subscription.Initial Complaint

6/24/24 ****** charged without authorization Impossible to get in touch with them to cancel, although I did not sign up for next year. I know they will say it was automatic renewal. Last year I spent a lot of time trying to cancel with no success and forgot about it until the 120 appeared on my latest Amex bill. I emailed saying I wanted to cancel with no response, and calling is impossibleInitial Complaint

First contact was by computer for a trial subscription on June 21, 2023. Instead I was signed up for a regular $120.00/year subscription with no notice and I didn't know it until I found my credit card had been accessed and billed as of June 21, 2024. There has been no response to my phone calls. Indeed, getting in touch with the ** Sun at ************ has been impossible. All I want at this point is my money back and a cancellation. Please help!Customer Answer

I subscribed to the newspaper for a trial period, knowing that I could cancel anytime before the trial period was up and there would be no additional charge. I canceled before the end date. They charged me ****** on 10/14/23 for a subscription for the next year.I called the company around 10/16 to complain about the charge. I was told, by an AI system I needed to set an appointment with the department handling my request. My call appointment was set for today, 10/26 at 9:30 AM. No one called. I called The ** Sun again and got another recording that said someone would call me. Still no call.Business Response

I agreed to a promotional subscription to the ** Sun in July 2023 and was charged for that brief subscription. Within a few days of my subscription agreement, they charged me more than the promotion had advertised and I canceled my subscription. Now they charged me $120 and they refuse to refund it. I have sent about 8 or 10 emails to their customer service **** without successful results and have set up about 6 phone calls through their customer support website (where you set up an appointment for them to contact you) none of which have occurred,. I cannot find a number for me to call them directly. They refuse to refund the $120 they charged my account without my authorization.Customer Answer

I have sent a further letter to the ** Sun and they responded that they would refund my subscription charge but two weeks later, they have not done so. I have no confidence that they will refund my money.

I was charged for a subscription that I did not order. I had agreed to a trial of the New York Sun -they advertise a trial subscription you can cancel before 30 days.I never received anything by email letting me know how to activate the trial - I am thinking it possibly may have gone to my spam folder. On 9/13/23 I received a charge of $120.00 for a subscription I did not agree to. I have been trying to contact them ever since: I have sent emails to the address on their website and have never heard anything back. I contacted customer service at the ************** account it was charged to and they were able to provide a phone number to reach this company. I have made several calls and never able to speak to anyone. I have left several messages . I want my subscription cancelled immediately, A refund, and a promise of no further charges. I do not wish to do business with a dishonest company that has so little regard for their customers.Customer Answer
