I've been trying to cancel my account since August 2024 because after several months, I was not seeing a saving on my energy bill. In fact I was paying more. I was told that it would take 90 days to take effect. I've called numerous times and am continually given the run around. They charged my account on February 8. I switched electric providers and am being charged by them as well. I feel that I have been more than patient. I'm waiting to see another charge from Common Energy appear on credit card bill around March 8. My best advice is to never give your credit card number to these people. It gives them a license to just bill, bill, bill. I've got enough going on during the day in running my business. I don't have the time to be chasing after these people to stop billing me. Be wary of anyone who walks into your business, gives you the hard sell and leaves with your credit card information. Nothing is as good as it sounds. Apparently these sales people must be paid on commission and just work going door to door. I would give them no star if that were an option. Anyone else have this experience?Common Energy LLC

Thank you for sharing your experience, and were truly sorry for the frustration and inconvenience this has caused. We understand how important it is to see real savings and to have a smooth cancellation process when needed.
Community Solar is a free, state-supported program that connects customers to local solar farms through their existing utility accounts, with the goal of providing guaranteed monthly savings. However, billing timing and transitionsespecially when changing utility providerscan sometimes lead to confusion, and it sounds like that may have happened here.
We take your concerns seriously and want to make this right. Please reach out to our Customer Support team directly at ************ or ********************************* so we can review your account, stop any additional charges, and ensure everything is handled properly. You should never feel like you're chasing answers, and were here to help.
Thank you again for your patience, and for giving Community Solar a try. Your feedback helps us improve the experience for everyone.Review fromRobert K

The company is a scam, going door to door and getting personal information. they should not be allowed to do this; how can we know they are legit with so many scams out. this practice needs to stop. If we want it, we will ask. you prey upon people. I don't even want to give you one star.Common Energy LLC

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We're truly sorry to hear that our outreach left you feeling uncomfortablethats never our intention.
Common Energy participates in Community Solar, a state-supported program designed to bring guaranteed savings to utility customers by connecting them to local solar farms. Because many people are unfamiliar with the program, we sometimes conduct door-to-door outreach to raise awareness and answer questions face-to-face. However, we absolutely understand the importance of trust and transparencyespecially in todays climate, where scams are unfortunately all too common.
Our outreach representatives are trained to clearly identify themselves, explain the program thoroughly, and only proceed with an individuals full consent. We never want anyone to feel pressured or misled, and we take allegations like this seriously.
If you believe your information was collected without your permission, or if you'd like to confirm whether your information is in our system, please contact us directly at ************ or ********************************** Wed be happy to investigate and ensure everything is handled appropriately.
Thank you again for your feedbackit helps us ensure our outreach is respectful and transparent for every community we serve.Review fromKathleen G

While the constant "delays" are not necessarily an issue, the issue arises when they then proceed to charge me hundreds of dollars at a time as a lump-sum payment (typically around 6 months of electricity bills all at once) with absolutely ZERO notice. They do not provide notifications regarding your bill and they don't even post the invoices onto your account until less than two weeks before payment is due (and the only way you know they are posted at that point is if you are consistently checking your portal for invoices). There is no way to remove your payment information from the customer portal. While it is money that I owe, it's a terrible business practice that puts me under unpredictable financial stress. Even if you request lump-sum payments instead of their weird "every three weeks to catch up" plan, you have no idea when they're going to decide to forcibly take the money out of your account. I am disgusted by this company and I strongly encourage others to avoid it at all costs. There are many other (better) companies out there.Common Energy LLC

They were deceptive in what I was told would happen and what actually happened. When I not only did my energy bill not go down but it went up on top of common energy also charging me .I got a lot of double talk when trying to get some clarity as to why. When I cancel they told me it would take 90 days. I was under the impression I could cancel anytime without penalty 3 months of them charging me and a higher energy bill seems like a penalty to me Iwould not trust these peopleCommon Energy LLC

Hi ****, Thank you for raising these concerns. We apologize that your experience with us was less than pleasant. We would like to confirm that your Common Energy account has been canceled as of 11/08/2023, as per your request, and confirmation of this action was provided via email. Upon enrollment, on 6/16/2022, you signed our customer agreement form that describes our billing practices and the 90-day disconnection policy. Customers can access this form through the Common Energy customer portal. Specifically, Section 10 of this agreement states that all customers are liable for any solar energy credits they receive while their utility works to process their disconnection. Both the connection and disconnection time from the solar farm takes about 90 days. This is an industry-standard across the multiple utility companies we partner with Nationwide. Customer charges from Xcel ********************** are not within Common Energys control and our invoices are generated using data that is provided and verified by Xcel themselves. All of the charges issued directly relate to a line item on your Xcel ***** ********** Credit, that can be found in the Other Recurring Charges Details'' section of your invoice. These credits are always listed as a negative value and deducted from your total with Xcel. This ensures that you only pay for this energy once to Common Energy, with the discount applied to ***** standard rate. This program is guaranteed to save customers money by allowing them to replace a portion of their energy use with energy credit from the solar farm that they pay for at a discounted rate. In this way, it is not possible for customers to pay more for their energy while utilizing this free state program aimed at incentivizing renewable use. Hopefully, this explanation provides some clarity. If you would like to review our policies, your previous conversations with our representatives, or your account with us further, please feel welcome to contact our customer support team via email or phone at ************.
