This company called me and said that they purchased my account from a creditor I have. And they even told me the last 4 of my social security number and said they are wanting me to set up a payment plan. I did not give them any personal information. i actually hung up with them and called the actual creditor. That company told me that they sold my account to a different debt company and it was not Unity Asset Management.Business Response

Upon receiving notification of the complaint, Unity Asset Management conducted an internal investigation regarding this matter. Unity Asset Management maintains direct business-like and legally compliant practices and procedures. We receive outstanding debts in our office and reach out to the consumer in question to figure out what happened. Upon investigation of this matter, it looks like we tried to speak with Miss ******** in regards to the debt in our office. We work directly with Leafy Financial in trying to collect on outstanding debts and we received her account in our office from them and they told us to reach out to the consumer as she had made email attempts to resolve the account. Upon speaking with Miss ******** she stated she couldn’t afford a lot and was looking to offer $25 to $50 a month to repay the account back and then might pay it off with her taxes. We were unable to reach Miss ******** after the initial conversation about doing $25 to $50 a month. We are sorry that Miss ******** feels that we are not the right party to work with but we were indeed the right party to contact. She can handle the account with Leafy Financial if she wants but we have placed her account in a cease and desist status for the time being. We apologize for any inconvenience. Was left a voicemail, this is the transcription on my voicemail “ “Hi Miss **** this is Miss Ruth calling from the office of unity asset I was reaching out to you today in regards to a matter our client sent over for yourself they asked us to go over the information that was sent and get a statement down on files to what happened and what your intent with this moving forward is if you could please reach me back immediately today the office number is ************** and my extension is *** this is a time sensitive matter so please make sure you reach me as soon as possible thank you…” I called the number and they asked me to verify my last four of my social, I was uncomfortable with it. I asked several times who they were calling in behalf and they said they couldn’t tell me that until I verified my information. I did not ask for any personal info just the name of their client. She said she was the secretary and did not have that information just needed to transfer me over. I had to end the call since I was headed back to work. I haven’t received anything in the mail or email that I can find. The lady said she needed to get my side of the incident down and could move forward. But I refuse to answer questions to a company that has zero transparency. Stating the company you’re calling for isn’t breaking any laws if you don’t give out any account information. I just wanted a company name. And being told she doesn’t have it seems like a flat out lie.Business Response

Upon investigation of this matter, it looks like the last time we spoke to Miss ******** was on 7/23 in regards to the debt in our office. We spoke to the consumer and tried to verify the person we were speaking to. The consumer was indeed not comfortable with verifying the last 4 of her social which is perfectly fine. However, we are REQUIRED to verify who we are speaking to before we release ANY information. We understand all she wanted was the name but again we do not know who we are speaking to and do not want to provide any info to the wrong party and have them come back at us for any wrongdoings. We have federal laws to follow and do not want to break them. We had no issue going over the information that we had, the consumer just needed to verify some pieces of information and refused. i have been left voicemails non stop for a week by MR. H******* saying I have never spoke to someone. I receive calls and emails. This is on verge of harassment im looking for employment what do they want. Upon investigation of this matter, it looks like the last time we spoke to Miss ******** was on 6/12 in regards to the debt in our office. We tried to reach out via telephone on 6/6 but never heard back until we received an email contact form submission on 6/7 asking us for information on the account. We provided her the information on the account and the consumer wanted to know how she can handle. The consumer wanted to do $20 monthly which we had no problem doing, but our payment portal only allowed for $50 minimum payments which she could not do. We instructed for the consumer to call in and provide the payment information since we only accepted payments electronically. The consumer inquired about our working hours, which we provided but then we never heard from the consumer again so we are a little confused on the situation. We have no issue working with the consumer, we just never heard back to obtain the card information to solidify the arrangement of the $20 monthly that she was trying to do. If they are willing to still work with us, she can reach out via email and we can try to solidify the arrangement or she can give us a call at ###-###-####. This issue just occurred today Mr ****** ext *** was DISGUSTINGLY RUDE ! He first stated that either my bed that I apparently owe and the other property can come get picked up or set up an arrangement. I ask for my account number he didn’t provide it he hung up on me , then once I tell him to come an get the property bc I have no money he says no they can’t do after already stating they can come get it ! Upon investigation of this matter, we spoke with Mrs ****** in regards to her outstanding debt in our office and why she initially defaulted. When speaking with the consumer, we provided verification to the consumer and upon receipt of the letter she stated she hasn’t live at the address in 4 years and wanted to dispute the account and return the items. We do not handle the return of the items as the account was charged off and that is no longer an option at this point. Upon telling the consumer that, she wished to no longer continue the conversation as she stated she had no money to set anything up. Due the nature of the conversation, we placed the account in dispute status and notified the client. The consumer is more than welcome to try and reach out to ******** to resolve the account but the account is charged off and they may no longer offer any resolution. I received a missed call. less than five minutes later my ex husband said he got a call from them looking for me. I called the company back and the woman was extremely rude. she continued to interrupt me, and told me that she could not tell me how low of a settlement they would take. then when i offered a number she suddenly had all kinds of guidelines she has to go by "half the total balance is the minimum" etc. Although when i asked her for that information initially she said she can not give that to me. Finally after i asked her NUMEROUS times to stop interrupting me, she then would sarcastically ask if she was allowed to talk. When i explained how a conversation works she said that I was making HER feel uncomfortable. She continued to repeat the same questions over and over without listening to anything, only wanting answers to her questions. A little bit of empathy or customer service would go a long way when people are trying to take care of something so stressful and based on all the other reviews this is a common problem.Business Response

This company called me and left a message stating they have tried contacting on numerous events. But I know they have not because I have no record of this on my phone or voicemail. The representative picked up and told me I had a debt that was going to court and if I wanted to avoid that process I should pay the debt. I started asking questions as to who the debt is with, how much the debt is, what year was this debt obtained and he did not want to answer the questions. He even went ahead and said “we are not a debt collection agency”. He even said “If you don’t pay right now you will have to just go to court”. He wouldn’t answer my questions because he said he was “too busy”. And then asked if I was going to pay and I said I need to know what this is for and he said “well looks like you want to go to court”, and hug up. That’s when I knew they were a collection agency. I got a call from Nathan R**** with Unity Asset. He was looking for my son, who is an adult who does not live with me. I asked Nathan what this was about, he refused to give any information. When I asked him if he was a debt collector or attempting to collect a debt, he said no. Very strange call. I keep receiving a call from one of their male representatives, I asked him who he was, and he just said Unity Asset. I asked what sort of company this is, he then replied that he was calling to get my side of an incident that was filed. I asked what incident he is referring to as I thought it had to do with a vehicle accident that a family member was injured in, he replied I will get into that later. He then asked to confirm my name but would not answer any of my questions. If I have already confirmed my name yet you refuse to tell me who you are or what you are calling in regard to then I will not engage in the conversation any further. After I have confirmed my name and yet you still would not provide me information about an "incident" then why call. You are calling under false pretense saying that it is regards to an incident like something is wrong. you are causing people unneeded stress. My family member is still in the hospital from an accident and when you call saying you are calling regarding an incident but don't provide information people expect the worse and start calling around. And please don't reply to me talking about HIPPA and Privacy because I did verify my name, yet you refused to provide information to me!! This company is horrible and need to reevaluate their ethics and maybe go through some training before calling customers alleging that there has been an incident that occurred. I would like to formally complain about this company and specifically Nathan R**** who called me on 3/28/2023 asking for my son. My son is a young adult and I never get phone calls to my personal phone from anyone asking for my son because he has his own cell phone. I asked Nathan what the call was in reference to and he declined to say. As a parent, I asked him several times if there was something wrong or if there was an emergency with my son. He declined to say. I took his information for the purpose of submitting this complaint. Nathan intimated that there was an issue with my young adult son and had me worried calling around afterwards and making sure that everything was ok. The way that Nathan explained what he was calling for was deceptive. Due to personal health issues, I had a very hard time after this phone call which caused stress and anxiety. Nathan was deceptive in the reasons he gave to me for calling me and when asked specific questions he refused to answer. I called this company back and asked to the person who answered what type of company this was because Nathan initially refused to tell me. The person on the phone also refused to tell me the type of business this is but was asking me for my son's information. So basically, they expect you to give them personal information but refuse to even tell you what the company specializes in. Look them up on the internet and you can see that they have numerous complaints from other customers and have a history of calling people over and over and over again trying to get information. The company has poor business practices and left me with stress and anxiety after speaking with them.Business Response
