      In February 2024 I received my Rumpke bill and it was 30% higher then it was the previous quarter. No notice about price increase just a new total on the bill. I called Rumpke and asked them why there was such a high price increase. I expect that there would be some price increase every year to cover cost of living etc. But not 30%. The representative first told me it was because of inflation. I said how can that be when inflation has gone from 9% all the way down to 3% and they said well it's the increased cost of fuel and I said how can that be since the price of fuel has gone down 11% in 2023 over year 2022. Then the representative said well it's just the cost of doing business. Again I don't mind an increase but I do feel like 30% is excessive.

      Rumpke Waste and Recycling is taking advantage of their customers. Not only was there a notable increase in the bill for both recycling and trash but there was an increase in the fuel surcharge. This is unacceptable since gas has gone down over the last six months. In fact, they should not even be allowed to continue to add the fuel surcharge. This is an operational expense and should be incurred as part of the business not for the customers to continue to pay. There are also no added benefits to the customer for this new increase - no new services, no enhanced customer service and no explanation. There was no prior communication regarding this increase. Rumpke Waste and Recycling is gouging their customers for more robust profits. I demand that an adjustment be made to our bill!

      Since starting commerical service with Rumpke July 2023, I have had many issues. I pay for every other week pu. Rumpke has missed pu's many times since July. I don't have exactly how many because i didn't realize I should be keeping track, but the issues continued. Rumpke should have record of all the times i have called in with issues. The missed pu's became so frequent that I started complaining about it more. I spoke to Emily O**** on January 5th about canceling service, she reminded me I am in contract for 3yrs. She stated "give us 30 days, and if another missed up happens you would be able to get out of your agreement"(Side note: after our January 5th conversation, Emily emailed me with her contact info in case i needed her prior to her getting back with me about some price matching options). I emailed Emily January 10th and 16th asking for an update. I also called several times only to get a voicemail and never a return call. She finally called me back January 25th! 20 days later!) January 17th we are scheduled for a dumpster empty, my renter texted me on January 23rd (screenshot below) asking when it was supposed to be picked up. He had items in there from January 11th. I made the call to Rumpke and they picked it up within 48 hours. THIS is the missed pu that allows us out of the agreement. Everyone at Rumpke is giving me the run around. Everyone promises to call back and looks for their supervisor but they are mysteriously never available. I have called 6x this week and sent numerous emails. Rumpke wants liquidation damages to get out of the agreement, $670. This is absurd considering they are the ones not holding up to their end of the agreement. The number of hours put into this issue is way too many, not to mention my renter pays for use of the dumpster and schedules his work around pu days, drastically effecting his business. Cust service is horrible and actual service is even worse. I just want out of the agreement penalty free so i can move on.

      We
      apologize that you are having trouble with our service. We reviewed your
      account and acknowledged the missed serviced at the beginning of your
      contract.  After being notified of your experience we were able to speak
      to the driver and resolve the situation by servicing your account and crediting
      you for the missed pick-ups in July 2023.  Our understanding is that the
      services were corrected until recently when you called into Rumpke on December
      29, 2023. At that time, you spoke with Emily O**** and wanted to terminate your
      contract, however Emily stated that we could offer you a lower rate for service
      upon our internal approval. Rumpke will honor the discussed rate upon your
      agreement.

      On
      January 17, 2024, we were notified that your container service was
      missed.  After review, you were notified that the missed service was due
      to concrete in your container that exceeded the weight limit of what our trucks
      can empty. (Picture on file) Our customer service agent advised you of the
      concrete in the container and asked if some can be offloaded so that we may
      return to service the container.  The driver had returned to service the
      container, but unfortunately the container was not offloaded and still too
      heavy to be serviced.   Additionally, in your contract under
      Equipment Responsibility it states, “Customer agrees not to overload (by
      weight or Volume), move or alter the Equipment, and shall use the Equipment
      only for its proper and intended purposes.”  Rumpke cannot service your
      container when it is overloaded by weight. Additionally, “proper and intended
      purposes” in your contract means we are servicing your container for municipal
      solid waste, not C&D material (concrete). We do ask that our customers
      honor our agreement and not overload by weight or volume so that we may have
      the opportunity to service your location.  As previously done before, we
      can acknowledge our fault where it lies with our service and if the services
      are missed for reasons at fault by Rumpke, a review of the services rendered
      and a determination of termination of the agreement could be reviewed, but that
      does not appear to be the case.

      Therefore,
      Rumpke intends to enforce the agreement and once we are notified that a portion
      of the concrete has been removed to a weight acceptable for us to service,
      Rumpke can resume every other week serviced agreed upon.

      Rumpke makes it sound like I had zero issues from August until end of December. That is a lie! I know they can look at their records to see how many times I had to call in for missed pickups. It has been a continuous battle since starting service July 2023. They want to credit themselves for the one credit I received and for offering me a lower rate. I had to ask for all of those things, they never offered it up on their own. They are not taking any accountability for how horrible their customer service is. Soo many hours I have wasted trying to get in touch with people, waiting for returned phone calls that never happen, and waiting for email responses that never happen. It has been the worse service I have ever received in my life. We put some crumbled up concrete in their one time and Rumpke wants to focus on that ONE mistake of ours. Hello, you guys have made soo many mistakes! Regardless, it is also a lie that concrete was in the dumpster on January 17th. It was a total missed pickup. I didn't realize it was missed until January 23rd when I called in. January 24th Rumpke came back and emptied the dumpster. Concrete was put in it later that week. Rumpke then calls me January 26th (i believe) to tell me they can't empty it because there is concrete in it... LOL they had already come back to empty it on 1/24 and then tried to send someone out again on 1/26.. makes no sense! BUT that goes to show concrete was not in the dumpster on 1/17 because they came and serviced us on 1/24 with no problem. AGAIN, I was told my Emily in the beginning of January that if they have any missed pickups within the next 30 days I am able to be released from my agreement. I have been fighting this since January 5th, let me out of the agreement! This is not my fault that trash service is junk AND customer service is even worse.

      Their original representative (whom coordinated the pickup of my large can they had provided in 2018 when I started services, advised me that I MUST to buy my own container if I wanted to continue weekly service with a larger can.  While they did say they would TRY (no guarantee) to get me back to weekly with a larger can provided by them, they did nothing to correct their representatives mistake that totalled more than $200 in my wasted time and cost of the purchase they advised me to make and then stated they would not pickup that container when they called yesterday.

      I currently have rumpkee trash service and have had constant issues with them not picking up trash at my residence but it seems to me that they have a monopoly. I should not have to call weekly to remind a company to provide a service that I pay for, with no reimbursement from them for forgetting and causing me more work. If they were an employee they would be fired and I would hire someone but it does not seem that I have that option when there are companies willing to service my area but are unable to.
      This issue has been consistent since around the end of 2022, with a minimum of them missing at least 15 times as an estimate but working on trying to get exact numbers. They currently have a contract with our county which means I have no recourse but to use their services while receiving no discount or reimbursement for late or unfulfilled services.

      Over the less than 1 year that we have been in business with Rumpke, we have been 15 weeks without trash pick up. And that’s just the ones I’ve counted. This is the second time I’ve had to contact the BBB to get something accomplished with them.
      The most recent event, we went from Dec 14th to January 26th without trash pick up even though we’ve paid. We had to call multiple times to even get pick up on the 26th. Then when they came to get it, they backed up and pulled forward about 20 times in my driveway and destroyed my gravel. It honestly seemed intentional given circumstances. In this case, we were told a refund had been issued about a week and a half ago- it has not.
      When this happened a few months ago, they begged to keep my business and I said fine, but if it happens again, I am done. Now, they refuse to return our phone calls, will not answer our voicemails, and they will not let us cancel service during our last conversation on 1/25. They told me I need to pay a cancellation fee, and they now will not return my 3 phone calls since then. I told her I am not paying a cancellation fee as they did not hold up their part of the contract, so it is void. The contract states “Customer…agrees to make the payments as provided for herein and Rumpke agrees to furnish such services.” They have not been holding up their end of the bargain, not once, but twice.
      Not to mention, ******* told me there was a route supervisor coming to my house on 1/26- there was never a route supervisor and we waited 4 hours just for two men to destroy our gravel.
      I do not want a fight, I just want my $84 from my most recent payment that was said to be refunded and was not, for them to get their dumpster off my property, and terminate my business with them permanently without a fee.

      No trash pick up for 3 weeks for us and all neighbors. Trash now in lanes which blows to my property rats are in large numbers snow is completely gone and BEFORE I plowed to main road lane is less than half mile with about 15 houses.       The garbage truck used its side claws on the vehicle to pick up our own trash can (not recycling) and the machine damaged our trash can. When I contacted Rumpke directly they advised me they are not liable for damaging privately owned trash cans and I should rent one of theirs for $2.50 per month. I feel like they owe me a trash can for damaging my personal one.

      Last billing date 7/13/23 account #1*********. Service was discontinued due to our community contracting with another trash service. I had a discrepancy and questioned my final billing. After further investigating I realized that Rumpke had been overcharging me for approximately a year. They claim after doing a "property audit" that I had 3- 90 gallon trash receptacles on my property which they were charging me for. I own a single family dwelling with 2 adults living in the home. Not only do I rarely fill 1 receptacle up, I would never have had use for 3- 90 gallon trash receptacles. Since this was a 3 month bill, I had assumed they had raised their billing and were charging for the receptacle once a month instead of once a billing cycle. Later finding out that they had been over charging me $22.00 every billing cycle for over a year and I was paying it. I have tried for 6 months to straighten this out with them with no success. They tell me now since the bill is now past due and in collections there is nothing they can do. This bill was current when I first tried to work this out. I believe they have confused my address with the business' that are across the street from me and they refused to admit to any error on their part. They claim that they picked up 3 - 90 gallon receptacles from my property which is completely not true. I had been a customer with Rumpke for over 10 years
