I am filing this complaint against BMW Financial Services of North America as a result of a recent total loss claim on my vehicle. I was involved in motor vehicle accident in a 2021 BMW X3 which was declared a total loss by my insurance on March 8th, 2023. My insurance issued a payment to BMW Financial Services in the amount of $44,344.58 on 03/31/2023. On 04/05/2023 I received an email from BMW Financial Services informing me that my insurance paid the settlement and as a result they are giving me a credit of $5292.12, which is 50% of the amount remaining after subtracting my payoff amount from the insurance settlement’s amount (which means I had $10,584.24 in equity). The email stated that I could use this credit for another BMW vehicle. When I called BMW financial services on 04/05/2023 inquiring about my money, I spoke with a supervisor named ***** who stated that “this (referring to the keeping the money from settlement and giving the customer 50% of the value in credit ) is a new policy for the past 10 month” which, as a consumer, I never received any correspondence explaining my rights and obligations when this new policy went into effect. I went on to ask ***** what if I had chosen not to drive another BMW and he responded and said that I would forfeit the entire amount. Furthermore, he confirmed that other lenders may not be following the same policy, but this is BMW policy. I have been a loyal BMW customer for over 10 years, and this is my 4th BMW vehicle but with this recent incident with BMW Finical Services I have decided to take my business elsewhere moving forward. As a consumer, I felt robbed of the money my insurance company paid, I felt misinformed and blindsided. I do not recommend BMW financial services as a lender to anyone.

I want to start this review by saying that *** ** **** ****** ************ has delivered quality vehicles time and time again from car performance. With that said, BMW Finance can not be part of the same family of companies as their service has been notorious. I wrote BMW Finance a letter looking for them to provide validation on my account. Not only did they failed to reply within 30 days, I sent a follow up letter to which they still have yet to respond to. The frustrating part is that I know that they received the letters because I sent them through certified mail. I would expect at bare minimum that a financial service would be able to provide the base accommodation to which they are required to deliver as a financial intuition.

Did a 3yr lease on a 2019 model 330xi. Had an allowance of 36000 miles. Drove it 22,000 miles. Was offered by BMW Finance a "waiver" of my turn-in 'disposition fee' [$350] and a "great deal" on a replacement vehicle. No mention of the almost 40% of the mileage I never used, [as in some kind of credit]. Obviously, they know what the mileage is on their vehicles because they monitor all of them for service reasons. Crickets on that. Went to local BMW dealer, who obviously wanted this clean, low mileage car so I cut a deal with them to turn it in there and THEY [the dealer] gave me several thousand for the value of the mileage I didn't use. Corporate BMW, they offered nothing and apparently thought I'd just turn it in and lose all that value. So think of how many leased BMW cars sat doing nothing over covid....I'd guess that many, many simply got turned in with significantly low miles. Millions in unused value. Heck, even my insurance company gave auto policyholders a premium credit for all that 'non-driving' time. Final word....I turned the car into the dealer, thinking I was done with all of this. Just got a letter advising I owed BMW Finance the $350 'turn-in' [ disposition] fee. Not mad at the dealer, they were fair. No so much on the Corporate side. Taking advantage of their own clients, while treating them as if they are unintelligent. Hope the $350 was worth it. Hello, Volvo. 4x BMW owner/lessor waves goodbye to the brand.

I’ve been a loyal customer of BMW for about 15 plus years and this will be the last time I’ll be purchasing a car from them. We submitted our payoff for our 2017 X5 (***** **** Cashier's Check) via priority mail on 12/19/2022. It was confirmed that the cashier's check was delivered on 12/11/2022 at 3:49pm to ** *** ***** ******** ** *****. I’ve called the CS multiple times on 12/15, 12/16, 12/19, and 12/21 to see why the payment is not being processed. Finally on 12/21, the CS told me that they’re unable to locate the check and asked to send a copy of the cashier’s checks. This was very frustrating because I only have a copy of the receipt. Anyhow, she wanted me to send it via mail again; however, I opt to email them instead just in case it gets lost again. The reason why I’m submitting this complaint is because there is no follow up on their end. Not only did I get different answers every time, they could not help me at all or give me straight answer to my questions. The last CS was so rude I just wanted to get off the call. Further more, I’m trying to sell this car and just lost a firm buyer due to BMW delaying the process. I don’t understand why we can’t submit an electronic payment to avoid these type of issues.

In December 2016 we purchased a 2017 *** X5 (new) to our specifications from the *********************** (**********) location. Prior to that we had purchased three certified *** SUVs; two X3s and one X5 (same location) bringing our own financing. This time we decided to let *** finance. In February 2017 we filed Chapter 13, with our home and vehicles excluded. Our bankruptcy ended a year ago. However, this is why you only get two stars. To have customers as loyal as we were (and still are when it comes to the brand itself) cuz we still will only buy a ***; it is appalling that as a *** customer/client, because you file any form of bankruptcy youre are no longer permitted to make your payments on YOUR website. What are we going to do? Hack it? Enter fraudulent information? It ****** me off, I mean reallyyyyy ****** me off that you treat your customers this way. Now I can go along with this while a person is still in the chapter; but once youve been discharged, I see no logical reason for this. We invested too much money into a vehicle that we love to be treated this way. It may be small and minor to you, but not me.Weve had several opportunities to pay off the X5, but I see no reason to do that when you treat your customers/clients worse than Ive seen inmates treated. And I know because I worked in the prison system. Im just wondering, what do you as *** employees do if such a situation happen to you? Nothing, Nodda, you most likely keep making those payments on your precious website while you block what I guess you call regular people. You can bet your bottom dollar, the next Ultimate Driving Machine purchase will come with its own financing as weve done in the past. However, Mr. *** Financial Service; that rule you have of dismissing customers from use of your website to make payments because of a certain status really gives you a bad look!!!

When it came time to pay off my lease I paid all fees they requested including a 24 hr expediting fee. They sent the registration to the wrong address twice, losing it each time, despite having received written notice of an address correction more than six months before. This took three weeks to resolve. They finally sent me a new registration, but no title. It took them six weeks to send me a new title. Now they want to charge me a $110 "duplicate title fee" to replace the title that they lost.
