      Tek-Collect sent an account to collections under my name for an account that is not mine. The account was a medical account for my husband. I am pretty sure this is a HIPAA violation, but at the very least it is inappropriate. I did not receive any sort of written or verbal correspondence from this company or the company that hired them prior to this account being placed in collections. I found out about this past due account and the collection action through a credit monitoring alert that my credit score had dropped almost 40 points.

      The creditor, ****** ****** **, placed this account in the name of the consumer with TekCollect on 07/20/2022. This account is for unpaid dental services. The service date provided by the Practice for the account is 09/20/2021. TekCollect sent 4 letters to the consumer concerning this account to ***** * ******* ***** ** ****** TekCollect has placed a dispute on the account, and we are notifying the credit bureaus that the consumer has disputed the account.  Our Client Services Depatment will contact the Practice and request validation of the account.       TekCollect has received the response and documentation from the ******** to this dispute. It shows that the debt was incurred by the consumer's spouse. It is not the consumer's debt. The ******** has agreed to close the account because one of the trade lines was not billed to the insurer.       I have no idea who these people are. But, like the MANY MANY complaints against this fraudulent and shamelessly criminal company has against it, I'm adding my complaint too.
      These people are ruining my credit over a false fee of "$29.00". Other than this scammish company, my credit is unscathed. I am teetering on gaining legal counsel to conduct an investigative analysis on Tek Collect's business practices. Im especially angered over the fact this company keeps reposting this $29 artificially created "debt" to my account. There last 'refresh' was on November 28, 2022! Yes. Just a few days ago. This is unconscionable and unacceptable. Please accept this written statement as a matter of record.

      Tek Collect appeared on my credit report in early September for a $50 bill. I have called both phone numbers they have listed as various times of the day, left voicemails, and filled out several contact forms on their website. I have also reached out on their social media platforms. I have been unable to get ahold of this company to get this measly debt resolved and it is lingering on my credit report. Additionally, I have received NO contact from them whatsoever that a debt is owed. I would like to get this paid immediately and removed from my credit report.

      On 10/18/2022 We spoke with the consumer regarding their account. At that time, the consumer submitted payment in full via credit. We informed the consumer that once the payment clears the processor, TekCollect will notify the credit bureaus to delete this account from their credit files.       15 U.S.C 1681 Section 604 A Section 2: It also states a consumer reporting agency cannot furnish a account without my written instructions
      I am allowed under the HIPAA law (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) to protect my privacy and medical records from third parties. I do not recall giving permission to CHARLESTON ENDODONTICS for them to release my medical information to a third party. I understand that the HIPAA does allow for limited information about me, but any details may only be revealed with the patient's authorization, therefore my request is twofold and as follows:

      Validation of Debt and HIPAA authorization
      - Please provide a breakdown of fees including any and all collection costs and medical charges
      - Please provide a copy of my signature with the provider of service to release my medical information to you
      - Immediately cease any credit bureau reporting until debt has been validated by me

      TekCollect received a dispute from the consumer for this account on 01/25/2022. We requested validation of the account from the creditor and on 01/27/2022, we forwarded that information to the consumer. The Practice placed a delinquent patient account receivable into collection. This is not a violation if HIPAA. Sending proof of the debt to the consumer, when they dispute a debt is required under Federal Consumer Protection Law, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Sending a consumer copy of their own records, in response to a dispute, is not a violation of HIPAA. Attached are copies of the cover letters that accompanied the documents. The consumer is mistaken, TekCollect is not required to obtain their direction or permission to report a past due account to the credit bureaus.

      I am filling a complaint against debt collection agency Tek-Collect Inc.

      I received a notification on my credit monitoring profile that Tek-Collect Inc flagged my credit for a collection in the amount of over $27,000. I was never called, mailed, or informed in anyway that this was happening. 

      I called them to settle the debt, and the collection agency refused to establish a manageable repayment plan or to settle on a lower total amount owed.

      The whole organization is unprofessional, and they use very hostile language, which makes me feel very uncomfortable during the call.

      In their attempts to collect from me, debt collectors from Tek-Collect Inc used an aggressive tone, obscene and profane language, and displayed no sensitivity or concern for my finances.

      A particularly rude and aggressive debt collector and her manager were trying to bully me into a payment in full that I can’t afford, and threatened to harm my credit score, so my fiancé had to step in and talk to them.

      They continued to use profane language and to talk rude and disrespectfully to me and my fiancé.

      As I was never made aware of the account going to collections I am looking for a goodwill deletion of the collection account from credit reports after we settle the debt on the a lower total amount owed. Or transfer it to a different collection agency which will be willing to negotiate the debt repayment options.

      When the consumer informed our agent that she wanted to settle, our agent went to the creditor and requested their approval for a settlement. The creditor approved settling for $21,000 on an outstanding of $27,455. Tekcollect contacted the consumer with creditor's settlement offer, which had a May 5, 2022, deadline. The consumer did not make the payment. After the deadline passed, the consumer through a third party offered to settle for 20% of the outstanding. This, however, was not acceptable to the creditor. After these events, both the consumer and the third party spoke with a manager here, who offered a settlement of $20,000 and the removal of this debt from the consumer's credit files. No agreement was reached. At this point and under the circumstances, the creditor does not wish to settle the debt. I have attached copies of the documents from the creditor that validate the account. The debt is the result of moving costs and a training program provided by the creditor to the consumer.

      The message from the business is misaligned from the facts, and researching this business it’s easy to see they are often malicious and unprofessional in their practice and use profanity towards those calling in to settle their debts.


      Moving forward, is the creditor unwillingly to take payment for debt?


      We don’t understand, what the practical repayment options here in full, 6 month, 12 month, and 24 month terms? What are the deadlines?


      Again, this was never mentioned to us and the business is not being honest with the facts.

      The consumer was offered a settlement per their request, which they did not pay. The consumer then engaged a third-party to represent them in this matter. That person made false statements and attempted to bully a resolution. The profanity referenced in this complaint was used by the third-party, when their efforts failed. We will not speak again with the third-party.

      Give me the monthly settlement options it’s absurd to ask me to pay the full amount in one payment during this economy.


      ******, I’ve never heard a more unprofessional and vulgar human being on the opposite side of the phone.


      I don’t want to be bullied by you, or any of your colleagues.


      This is not a car dealership ******…


      Send me the possible settlement agreements for the 3,6,12,24,36 months terms like you PROMISED you would months ago and we’ll go from there.


      Why do you continue to make this so complicated? Stop forcing me to pay in 1 payment so you get a commission check.

      On August 2, 2022, the consumer filed a complaint with the CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) concerning this account. At that time, TekCollect responded to the CFPB regarding the consumer's complaint. The reason that the consumer did not receive the correspondence sent by TekCollect to the consumer concerning their account was the address on file was out of date. the consumer had moved and had not informed the creditor of the current address. The address on file at time was  **** * ***** ***** *** ***** *** ****** ****** *****. TekCollect updated the consumer's address and contacted the creditor, requesting validation of the debt.       I have had a problem with ******** ****** ** ****** ****** **. for quite some time.
      As a retired teacher, I used a dentist who "took" my dental plan. All of a sudden they, after the fact refused to
      accept coverage.
      Suddenly I was told I was given a $750 late charge and it would go into a collection!
      I attempted to resolve the dispute and offered them a settlement - which they refused because it was in collection.
      They never told me who was involved and I never received any outside notices except from the Dentist.
      FINALLY, they sent me a notice of what the collection agency, TekCollect allegedly attempted to do -I RECEIVED NONE OF THE LETTERS, CALLS ETC, THAT IS ON THE ATTACHED!
      THEY NEVER TRIED TO CONTACT ME, DESPITE WHAT THEY NOTED!
      I cannot believe that they have a B+ rating with the number of complaints they have against them!

      Tek Collect refuses to remove derogatory and invalid account and is attempting to collect an invalid debt.
      They have not provided me with a satisfactory debt validation. The only document provided is a
      ticket/invoice that does not bear my signature. I did not receive any of the items listed on the invoice
      provided, and did not agree to any terms or extensions of credit. I do not owe the debt they are
      attempting to collect, and they have failed to provide any such proof showing that I do.
