      I had a ventless fireplace installed by Best Chimney Care on August 27 and 28, 2023. After Ron L*** installed the fireplac, which was finished on a Friday, there was a strong gas smell in my home for three days. If I had not opened windows in my home both day and night during this time both my three dogs and I could have died. The following Monday I was sitting in my kitchen and the fireplace ignited on its own. I called Ronald L***. He sent his brother who helped him install the fireplace to check it out. He did not find the problem. Turned the gas to the fireplace off and said Ron would call me the next day as he was on a job in Columbus. In the meantime I called **** Energy. The technician turned the gas back on and verified a leak. Ron L*** called me back seven days later. As I was not at home he left a message saying he thought the wrong part was installed. I called him back and told him to come remove the unit and return my money. I never heard from him again. In the meantime I called **** Builders to remove the unit. They found that the connection to the gas was loose. Gas had leaked out via this connection. I filed a Small Claims Case with the ***** County Court system but after three tries and eight months later they still had not been able to serve Ron L***. Not much good to say about that experience either. With court costs and fireplace and install I'm out approx. $3000.
