In June 2025, I was in the final stages of purchasing a used EV from Volkswagen of Streetsboro. During an earlier attempt with a different vehicle, I was told I would need to purchase additional add-ons to qualify for the $4,000 federal used EV tax credit. I walked away from that deal due to concerns over vehicle condition and the add-on requirement.

Shortly after, I pursued a second vehicle at the same dealership. While no add-ons were required for the tax credit this time, I ultimately did not complete the purchase due to conflicting documentation — including a clean Carfax report, an auction document referencing structural damage, and uncertainty surrounding the status of the manufacturer warranty.

The dealership’s general manager later publicly confirmed they were aware of the structural damage, contradicting how the vehicle was initially represented. I believe this raises serious concerns about transparency and potentially deceptive sales practices.

I have submitted formal complaints to the Ohio Attorney General and the IRS, and am filing with the BBB to document this pattern of behavior.

See uploaded screenshot of the general manager, *** *******, publicly confirming they were aware of the vehicle’s structural damage.

    Re: BBB Case #: ********
    Customer: ******* *******

    To Whom It May Concern,

Volkswagen of Streetsboro appreciates the opportunity to respond and provide full context regarding *** ********* complaint.

In June 2025, *** ******* visited our dealership to purchase a used electric vehicle (EV). While no transaction was completed and no funds exchanged, we were in the final stages of delivery when concerns were raised.

The customer references a required add-on tied to the federal used EV tax credit. The only add-on initially discussed was optional paint protection—one of several value-add products we present to all customers. Once this concern reached management, I personally spoke with *** ******* and made it explicitly clear that no add-ons were required to qualify for the tax credit or to purchase the vehicle. He could buy the vehicle as-is, without purchasing anything beyond the vehicle itself.

As to the vehicle history: Carfax is a third-party tool that provides helpful background information, but we do not control what they choose to report or omit. That is why we proactively provided *** ******* with the original auction report disclosing prior structural damage before any paperwork was signed. He had full access to both the Carfax and the auction report and, even after reviewing these materials, he expressed that he still wanted to purchase the vehicle.

However, because of misleading and inflammatory social media posts *** ******* had made during the process, I told him we would need to pause the transaction until Monday to address the situation internally. At that point, his demeanor shifted—he became frustrated about not being allowed to take the vehicle home immediately, despite having received full transparency and fair treatment up to that point.

It’s also important to note that earlier in the process, *** ******* suggested he would leave a more favorable online review in exchange for a deeper discount. This behavior was documented internally and considered concerning.

Volkswagen of Streetsboro categorically denies any form of deception or misrepresentation. We acted in good faith at all times, provided all available documentation, and clearly stated the terms of sale. No transaction occurred. Out of an abundance of caution, we are nonetheless reviewing our internal procedures around vehicle disclosures and incentive communications.

    Sincerely,

    General Manager, *** *******

My daughter and I purchased an **** from this dealership last February. Last July I contacted them and said that the vehicle was leaking from the roof into the front seat. I stated that, after the first hard rain, we thought perhaps we left the sun roof open. However, after the second hard rain, we knew that was not the case. They informed us the car had been wrecked but said there was only damage to the frame. They transferred me numerous times when I called and I finally talked to a manager who said they would not repair it because we bought the car in February and there were many snow falls since then and we were just calling about it in July. I NEVER said ANYTHING about snow. I said "TWO HARD RAINS". We were going to sue but have since decided to file a BBB claim.

On March 12th I went to my car (2021 Atlas ) and put my purse and work bag in the front seat, closed the door and heard my doors lock. I proceeded to check all the doors and in fact they were all locked WITH THE KEY FOB and my phone in my purse which was in my car. A safety feature of the car is that the door will NOT lock with the key fob in the car, but it did! I had to ask a random person to use their phone and contact my husband which in turn called VW of Streetsboro (Which is where we have taken the car to be serviced for years) and spoke to the service manager, *****. He gave us the phone number to the road side assistance. After having road side assistance come out to unlock my car they noted the key fob locked in the car and charged us $85.00. We spoke to the service manager, ***** and tried to get an explanation of how this could happen and he said "well it's probably because your cell phone was in your purse with your key fob." Really? Nobody ever told us not to do that AND I normally have my granddaughter in the car with me and it was by the grace of God that day she was not. I want the public to know of this safety issue that VW is not standing behind. The dealership manager, **** was made aware of the situation and told me "I'm new at this dealership there is nothing I can do." The corporate office also was contacted and told me they were not refunding my $85.00 due to their incompetency of this safety issue. What would have happened if my 1yr old granddaughter would have been in the car and it was 90 degrees outside? It took roadside assistance over an hour to get to me. I think we would be discussing a whole different ballgame! My Uncle works for News channel 5. I have no problem taking this to them if they will not refund my money and fix issue at hand! The customer service we received was horrible and I would NEVER recommend this dealership. This is a very dangerous safety issue that the public needs to know about.

We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this matter. Unfortunately, this has nothing to do with Volkswagen of Streetsboro as this vehicle as not been in our Service department since 9/23/24. Im writing this email in regards to a vehicle I purchased from VW Streetsboro. When I purchased the vehicle there were some warning indicators on the dash that I brought to the attention of the salesmen. He told me that the indicators just needed reset, it was not a problem, that their team of mechanics did a thorough overall inspection on the vehicle at their offsite location. When I got in the car the warning signs were gone. About 10min down the road they came back. We made an appointment with them to look at the vehicle but had to cancel because my entire family of four had influenza-A blow through our household. We noticed the vehicle pulling hard to the side the following day. We made an appointment at ** of ***** to have them look at the car. ***** informed us that there were several issues causing the warning indicators. Our ACC sensor was not working due to the wrong emblem being installed blocking the sensor. The tire pressure sensor was due to all 4 tire treads being different. On *** vehicles they told us its VW policy to have all 4 tires be the same model and all treads be within 2/32 of each other, they were not. The tech saw our front passenger tire bouncing and noticed that the bolt to hold the control arm was barely in its slot, almost falling out (major safety issue)! The tech also noticed oil in the belly pan and that the oil pan had a crack in it, along with the oil pan bolts being cracked and broken. The heat shield was also cut for some reason as well which made it damaged. Ive tried to contact the general manager at VW Streetsboro and I just get the run around from the workers on the floor telling me hes on zoom meetings, he just walked by but they cant find him, etc.I have a wife and two little boys. They are my world and all I wants is a vehicle thats safe. This car was portrayed to me as being checked over thoroughly by ** mechanics and that they would never put something on the lot that was not safe. That was clearly a lie!!!

When calling Volkswagen Steeles borough Ohio, I requested financial assistance to purchase vehicle through Volkswagen. I did not give them permission to hard pull my credit 11 times in one day. They don’t tell me they were doing this, and they have ruined and tarnished my credit for two years with 11 hard inquiries. Shady business practices from salesman and general manager.

Sold me a vehicle when they didn't have the title or other documents. I only just received my plates, registration and memorandum title 8/15 after purchasing my vehicle on 6/5. I had to call, email and text dozens and dozens of times for any sort of response regarding my expiring, then expired temp tag as no one from any department would respond or give me any answers. I didn't understand why the simple part if receiving my memorandum title was such a problem until I was finally told the reason for the delay- that the dealership did not obtain the proper paperwork from the previous owner. The dealership had to find, reach out to and wait for the previous owner to sign the paperwork to release the vehicle title. I don't understand how they could've sold a vehicle when they never had the title to begin with. What if they refused? I just paid tens of thousands of dollars for a car and if they refused to sign for whatever reason, where would that leave me? How is that legal?

Then, I couldn't drive my car for 3+ days because my temp tag expired even though I notified them of this 2 weeks, then one week before expiration to get ahead of it. It took my tag being expired over 3 days for me to receive a new temp tag.

I am rejecting this response because:

The response they provided does not reference the entire issue I stated. My main statement of issue was from lack of response the entire 2+ months from when I purchased the vehicle to when I received the title and plates. Their response only highlights when I finally received a call indicating my plates and memo title were sent to me by the dealership. That does not absolve the 2+ months of their team ignoring my emails and calls, only responding after repeated inquiries on my behalf and asking for management. That response does not offer any realization to their failure to communicate as they promised to their customer. I do not accept their response per the above.

I purchased a 2023 Toyota GR Supra out of state in Ohio on April 1, 2024. Vehicle delivered to IL on April 11th. The temporary license plates were valid until May 23, 2024. I have been asking for over 2 weeks for an extension of my license tags. No response form the dealership. ****** *****, the salesperson, asked ***** *****, to assist with this, but no response or reply from anyone over there. Is it really that difficult to extend the license tags? Then, I was told that the plates could not be extended because the vehicle title was already sent out by *****. Then she changed her mind & said that if I'm willing to pay for them, they can be extended. What??? Is this the way to do business?
I have been overall dissatisfied with my purchase from VW of Streetsboro. Never again will I purchase out of state. I also only received 1 key fob for my vehicle. I thought that for a 62K vehicle, you would surely get 2 key fobs. Highly disappointed. I never asked because I thought, for sure, that I would get 2 key fobs.

Now, I'm driving around with expired temporary license plates & if I get stopped and fined, I will press charges against VW of Streetsboro. They aren't helpful & there is nothing that I can do about that.

I purchased a used car on February 5, 2024 from Volkswagen if Streetsboro, it was a 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan. I didn’t notice at first but about 3 days later I saw the car had 3 different brands of tires on it, all of which seemed to be in different stages of wear. I was planning a road trip to Indiana so I wanted to have new tires installed and an alignment done. The tires were installed on March 3, 2024 but the alignment could not be completed due to problem with the rear passenger wheel. I took the car into a different Volkswagen dealership and they determined the problem to be a bent knuckle on the rear passenger wheel due to an impact with either a curb or a pothole. The representative from the dealer also stated that it stated on a car fax report that the car at one time had a single wheel replaced. The dealership where I bought the car did show me a basic car fax report that showed it had no reported accidents or open recalls but that was all. This dealership also has a scanner that all cars go through when entering service that scans the alignment so I questioned my Saleswoman about that because when the car was traded in it should have shown up having this issue but it was never communicated to me. The car is still under a factory warranty but was sold as is with no Dealer warranty and this particular problem is not covered under a factory warranty. I did not purchase a dealer warranty but I do however feel that they should not have sold a car that couldn’t be aligned completely or communicated the existing issue. My trade in was driven through this scanner and valued for any little thing they saw so I find it hard to believe a car they took in on trade was not thoroughly gone over before it was sold to me.

I do apologize but I do not feel comfortable with paying any part of this repair. I was told by a separate Volkswagen dealership that the CarFax report showed a single wheel being replaced on the car I purchased, I can not confirm that because I never physically saw the entire report. The dealer ( Volkswagen of Streetsboro ) website states that there is a FREE CarFax report provided with each used car purchase and the only info I was showed about the car was that there was no accidents reported. Personally I feel they purposely withheld that part of the report if in fact it was on the report. The tone of the Salesperson I dealt with was in no way helpful in any way and the Manager was very rude during the entire process. I've been dealing with some personal matters so I didn't get this email until today. If I can no longer pursue it then so be it, things just came up.

As previously stated in our prior response, we apologize for the inconvenience caused by the delay. As a gesture of goodwill, we offered a free wheel alignment and agreed to split the cost of tire replacement with the customer. We have taken the necessary steps to resolve this matter. However, the customer is unwilling, and we respectfully request that this matter be closed.

Good morning!  There was a response from the business sent on 06/07/24 and it states I have 7 days to review and respond and today being the 6th day. I do not feel I should have to pay any of this repair but 50% is better than 0% so I would bw willing to accept this and settle this matter. As much as they picked apart my trade in to try and value it as low as they could I just find it hard to believe they wouldn't have paid as close of attention on the used car I purchased.

    Respectfully,
