They started working on my home project to create a sunroom since October 2022 and the work is still not finished. I have paid $130,000 For this job. Roof is leaking from the day one and they have come approximately 10 times to fix it but it isn’t resolved yet. The workmanship is in a very poor quality every time you call them they come after month and a half or after two months. This job supposed to be done within two week window and now it is over one year. I highly recommend everyone who is reading this not to do any business with this company if you want to save your money and headache.Business Response

Very poor communication skills, for the most part no communication unless you contact them first. Our deposit wasn't processed correctly so that delayed our start date. Contract said project would be completed within 3 weeks of start date.
Our Sunroom/deck project took a total of 15 months from start to finish, and there are still a few minor issues that were not resolved. Our project cost over $91K and we had to have it all paid before they started the project. Once they started, we had issues with supplies, the railings had to be ordered and reordered 3 times. They claim the manufacturing company sent the w***g railings. The roofing had to be installed twice, the 1st time the project manager just installed a shingle brand he chose by himself, we were no consulted. It had to be removed and replaced.
The flooring in the sunroom itself had to be done 3 different times. 1st install was not laid correctly and was pulled and replaced. 2nd install was not rated for the heat of the sunroom and buckled and needed to be replace. The 3rd flooring was delivered and was not correct, because again the project manager did not discuss with us. It was reordered and installed.
Windows were measured w***g and when they were delivered, they did not fit. Replacement windows apparently were on back order, then when they arrived, they were broken and had to be ordered again. They claimed they were completed with the project 9 months after start. We found many errors that needed to be corrected. We were not receiving communication in a timely manner, so we escalated to the CEO. We spoke with *** ****** and he got crews out here to fix the mistakes. They did not fix all of them, and now are not responding to emails/calls.
Compensation was offered to us in the amount of $375. Which is a deduction of price of less than .5% of the total cost of the project. We were informed that the project manager was let go due to these issues and others with similar issues.Business Response

Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
I will agree that most of the issues were completed, but they were not completed until 7/28 not 7/26. There are a few minor issues that were not completed and one major issue. There was a damaged panel installed that needed to be replaced. The installer advised me to just paint over the damage to cover it up because he said it was a lot of work for him to replace it. That will definitely cover it up, however it will void my warranty. It specifically says we are not allowed to paint.
The project was not only delayed, but it was also a violation of our contract. It said it would be completed within a certain time frame and it was not.
We paid over $90,000 for the job to be completed correctly and on time and we received neither. We were lied to and ignored for periods of time. The repairs didn't even begin until we escalated the communication. I fully believe we should not be paying full price for the work that was done.Business Response
Date: 09/19/2023
According to our records we were unaware of the damaged panel, it was not notated by the previous field supervisor. Someone from the local branch will be reaching out to you to set up a service call to take care of this. Thank you.
- The Great Day Improvements Team
Customer Answer
Date: 09/22/2023
I am rejecting this response because:
It is another example of poor or lack of communication. It was never shown to the previous field supervisor because he never came to our project. It was shown to the current **, and he took pictures. It was shown to the lead installer. When the crew came out for repairs, it was shown again to the installer and he sanded down the rough parts, but you can still see it was a damaged panel that was installed. Someone from the local office did reach out to me on 9/15, 4 days prior to this response. I responded to them on 9/15, I could not give them the information they requested that day. So, on 9/16 I did send them the information they requested. As of 9/22, I still have not received a response. It is pretty clear that the communications and follow-up do not exist. The lack of communication, lack of follow through, the use of bad materials, and the installation of incorrect materials, all of this proves even more we are entitled to a refund. We are willing to settle this whole issue and end all further issues for a 18% refund of all monies paid to the company. It is clear that they did not deliver what they promised they would.Business Response
Date: 09/29/2023
We sincerely apologize for someone not getting in touch with
you in a timely manner. Like many other companies, we have faced staffing
challenges that have caused delays and miscommunications. Someone from your
local branch will update you about the materials needed and set up a service
call once the materials have arrived. We do not offer concessions. Thank you.- The Great Day Improvements Team
Customer Answer
Date: 10/05/2023
I am rejecting this response because:
Using the excuse "like other businesses" is not acceptable. If you would like to do things like other businesses, then start with not charging the full payment up front. Customers need a recourse for when you do what you do. Lack of communication and staffing is an excuse, if you are not able to perform projects as promised then you should not take on said projects. Other companies will give discounts for jobs not done completely or correctly. These are not "concessions", they are doing what is the right thing to do.
But, to go along with your "we do not offer concessions". I do not pay full price for lack of quality work, breach of contract and poor customer service. We are 18 months past signing the contract and we are still talking about it. I can see by past complaints; I am not the only one this has happened to. So this is obviously not an issue with lack of staffing "like other companies."
I am owed a discount to the price I paid due to breach of contract, lack of customer service poor quality.Initial Complaint

This has been going on for over a year.
Ordered 3 windows for a large bathroom. Initially, the salesperson, Theo ordered the wrong color for the windows even though he had done all the upstairs windows and knew the color was not almond but grey. Due to this salesperson error, I was then told I needed to pay for his error and ended up paying about 1500 more. The windows came in and two were put in. The third one ended up having a cracked frame and could not be put in. They re-ordered the window. Months later, the third attempt was made. The window did not fit and cannot be closed properly. The installer recommended a re-order. I was told someone would be in contact with me. No one has. No one will respond to my calls or emails. The window does not close and my 94 year-old father uses that bathroom. Winter is approaching and I cannot have a window that does not work due to his various medical conditions not to mention the cost of heating.Business Response

Attached is an email that the Great Day Improvements Louisville office typed up and sent to the reginal managers on 8/24/2023. Signed a contract 6-16-23- 3 equal payments of $8,056.34 required: at time of signing contract, upon order of manufactured material and start of project. *********************************, **************** ***** ****** and ***** all stated worked would be completed in 3 days. The 3rd payment was charged to my credit card on 8-21-23 work crew showed up at 11:30 late due to accident on freeway, but assured me that project will be completed within 3 days. 8-22-23 a different work crew came at 8:30am and proceeded to unload materials for installation. Before ****** was advised that the job can NOT be finished, the wrong materials were delivered. I asked the work crew what was going to happen their best guess was that new measurements had to be taken and new materials ordered! At this point only 1 wall was semi-completed. I called ****. Svc. Rep. ****** and requested 1/3 of the final payment be refunded as only 1/3 of the work was semi-done. She said NO per the contract. NO ONE KNOWS ANYTHING! THE COMPANY IS NOT RETURNING MY CALLS. We went into contract with this company in April of 2023. They took 1/3 of our payment ($20K) when they "filed" for a permit with the regional building department. The permit was rejected in May. I figured it was because the deck required for an enclosure was not yet built. The deck was built on June 10th and inspected by someone from this company the next week. I was told they were just waiting on the permit. So I waited. And waited more. I finally called the local building permit department. They were extremely helpful in providing information. On their side, a permit was never "re-submitted" after rejection. So we have been sitting here waiting for 3 months now and this company has not done their part of the job (permitting). And every time I have tried to call this company, I get routed to a department in ****** and I never get a call back. I've only ever got ahold of someone in the "*********" office. The lack of contact or communication from this company, and them taking money (large amounts) from people before anything has even been accomplished on their side is a very shady way of doing business. Someone needs to do something about this soon. I'm very tired of waiting when I've jumped through hoops to get everything done on my side of things. (Deck to THEIR specifications, Egress window, etc).My patience is wearing thin.Business Response

On May 7, 2023, we entered into a contract to have a screen room built on our patio for a cost of $29, 428.65. On July 10, 2023, workers came to prep the area and stated additional concrete would be needed on the patio with additional cost of $2,056.00. July 19, 2023, workers arrived and we agreed to the additional concrete and the workers moved our hot tub off the patio and stated they would put it back when the job was complete. On August 3, 2023, we signed an addendum for the $2,056.00. On August 4, 2023, the workers came and dropped off the supplies needed to complete the screen room. On Saturday, August 5, 2023, one worker came and completed the screen room. He stated he would be back next week to complete the job and move the hot tub back to the patio. I signed a job form #*****, which stated additional work needed dirt removal, concrete removal, and move the hot tub back into the screen room. I would imagine the dirt would be placed in the ditch which is currently on three sides of the screen room. An appointment was scheduled for Thursday, August 17, 2023, for them to return and finish the job but they never showed. I would like the business to complete the job as promised.Business Response

My project started in June of this year. When the salesman first came to my house to measure and show product samples I stressed that my main point of focus was to safely navigate over the slider threshold in my power wheelchair. Combined weight is 600. After measurements he called his superior to discuss threshold situation. After discussing it I I was told the threshold height would be one inch and can handle chair. The threshold was/is 2 1/4 which is 225% higher than I was promised. I made a few attempts to roll chair over and the tires would just spin in place. The thin outer sheet metal even bent inwards. Even had I successfully made it over the threshold the full force of the combined weight would have bent the metal to the point where it would render the slider inoperable. I explained this on the phone to sales person before the install people left. He said ok well have someone come out and make the proper threshold adjustments to roll over safely. A few days later a head installer came out with some material to use on both sides of the slider. After a few moments he realizes there was no way his solution would work. He left and said well discus threshold solutions with design team and get back to you on a solution. While this was happening Great day improvements was attempting to collect for the balance of my project. I explained the situation and we agreed they would not charge the $2000 balance until a resolution occurred. A week later I received an email giving me 2 options. I wrote saying I dont think theyll work but we can try one and test it.That communication was on 7/20. I heard nothing till 8/3 when they wrote saying I refusedsolutions and they sending me to collections and my warranty would be voided.Im out of characters for complaint but Id also like to point out the salesman made several attempts to date my girlfriend. I have text screenshots Id like to share. Is this the type of organization that ********************* is proud to run?Business Response

We sincerely apologize for your experience not being what we would hope for. Our records indicate we are coming out next week to replace a screen. I am rejecting this response because: when the service tech came out on 8/29 to replace screen door he knew nothing about the threshold. He said he was only instructed to replace screen.Business Response
Date: 09/06/2023
Dear **********************,
We are unclear as to why the service tech was unaware of the threshold and looking into the breakdown in communication there. However, after reaching out to the local office who handled your project and reviewing the notes in the system, it appears we have offered a solution for the threshold two different times prior to the most recent service call, and you refused both solutions. Depending on product, our sill track height can vary, especially if there is an existing slope, which your concrete pad has, so the threshold ended up a little higher than the design consultant planned for. In some cases, we can recess the track, but because your enclosure was installed on an existing concrete pad, recessing was not an option. We feel the incline ramp solution is still a viable option and if you are willing to reconsider, we encourage you to reach out to the local office to discuss this in greater detail. ****, our Regional Operations Manager will be following up with you as well.

We signed the contract first week of April and installer came in May last week to start installation. I paid 90% (little more than $20K). After about 3 weeks they said installation is complete. Day 2 it rained and leaked water from so many places. I called the installer and he came back after few days to correct. He said he tried fixing and told me to check when it rains. It rained within 2 days again was leaking again. This repeated again one more time. So far the problem is not fixed. It's leaking on both sides of the walls where Great Day Improvements did the work. Luckily I did not install flooring. Room is completely not usable as every time it rains dumping lot of water on both sides. I sent them video and many pictures.
Now they are threatening me to pay remaining 10%. Few days back the installer told me installation was not done properly that he needs couple days to remove and reinstall again.
If I have seen these many complaints I would have never hired them. I have politely explained them the problem and sent pictures and videos as proof that installation is not done properly. Now they are threatening me to pay 10% otherwise they will not fix it. What kind of customer service is this for a $23k job?Business Response

We sincerely apologize for your experience not being what we
would hope for as we want all of our customer to be happy. We have an appointment scheduled to come out next week and will complete any punch list items and concerns that
you may have. We will also inspect the deck that is above the sunroom as we
feel that is where the issue of the leaks may be coming from. As this build was
done under an existing roof, our contracts do not warrant existing structures.
If we do find the sunroom addition was the cause of the leaks we will correct
the issue. Thank you for reaching out.

Installers came on Saturday 8/26 and removed everything that was installed couple months back. It seems was installed whole thing incorrectly and they have to dismantle and start from the beginning. As of EOD 8/28, reinstallation started and looks like may take another couple days.
I will accept once the proper reinstallation is complete. For now I am rejecting and thanks for sending workers.
Thanks

Installation of my new patio cover started on May 8, 2023. As of August 7 the project still has not been completed.
I have contacted the office numerous times via email asking for an update. The communication is poor. The company should be calling me, instead of me requesting updates.
Anyway now we are 3 months since start of installation and I'm still waiting for satisfactory completion.
Oh and the project cost me lots of money.Business Response

We apologize for your service not being completed Friday as we had planned. Our technician that was onsite had to leave because his wife had a stroke. A crew was onsite Monday and completed your project. Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because:
There are still several minor details that need completed in a quality fashion. Today I contacted **** the installation supervisor and sent him photos of the things that still need to be addressed. I had a phone call with **** also. He said that he will be back in touch with me on Monday to discuss a plan. So for now I reject the response from Great Day Improvements.

I did get a message on Sept. 1 from Great Day Improvements stating they would be ordering a new header for me.
I do not want to close this complaint until the new header is successfully installed. The project must be completed to my satisfaction before I will accept the reply from Great Day Improvements. I have paid in full for this project.
Thank you,

I did get a message on 9/1/2023 stating that a new header would be ordered for my patio project.
I will however wait until the new header is satisfactorily installed before I close this complaint with BBB. That is why I have responded with a rejection.
I have paid in full for the patio installation but the job still has not satisfactorily been completed.
