Same as others, got scared, paid as much as possible for a perceived resolution, was met with minimal effort. To the point where ********* do a better and more thorough job than this for views. I expected 14000 for phase 1 and phase 2 to be somewhat better as it was their 2nd or 3rd highest service. However, I did more for myself with free government services than they did. 2nd phase isn't even needed at this point I could just pay another phase 1. Again, had they not pressured me with fear, I would have just left it at a disappointment with phase 1. Next time I might as well plead with the ********* and agree to give them the money seeing as they went as far as being able to alert the authorities of the location and more. All I got was ohh we know who this is probably but don't know anything else except for a general country. As for phase 2 that is 100% unnecessary as it is just in case it "reoccurs" and as your mind is in distress you agree for protection in their timeline which I think is a year. After a month or two I came to realize I could have just purchased another phase 1 service seeing as there is no guarantee they wouldn't ask for more money if phase 2 actually occurred. So with the fear of not using their services on the table they pushed for higher charges while producing less than the bare minimum of results. As I reiterate ********* people that create content do a better and more thorough job for likes. So, and I can't stress this enough paying $7000 for no real resolution, then paying $7000 for "guarantee" seems disrespectful at this time.Business Response

I was a victim of extortion on March 26. Because of me being scared, I look online for help and there I find Digital forensics corp. I wired transfer $1,000 as a down payment for their service. The day after, I changed my mind and asked to drop the case and get a refund but the guy I am talking to persuade me to hold on and trust them but I already made up my mind to drop the case as soon as possible because I have found that you can only get a refund at 3 day time period after the case have been filed. I tried to contact Jorge Garrido through email and phone but I couldn’t reach him. By Saturday March 30 he was able to respond to my email and I asked to drop my case but unfortunately because 3 days had already passed, I was told that I can’t no longer get a refund because the case is already completed.Business Response

In November of 2023 I was notified my identity had been compromised. After speaking with Digital Forensics I was made aware that my information was being sold on the dark web. I signed up to have Digital Forensics request this information be removed and to provide me with a list of websites that it was being removed from. I only received 1 report in November. Since that time no services have been rendered. However, my card was still being charged. I noticed the continued charges and requested a refund. I have disputed these charges with my bank. And I still have not yet received a refund or been provided with the services that were suppose to be rendered. At this point my bank says there's nothing they can do and I have to beg the merchant for a refund once again. So in short, I was charged $150 per month from Dec. 2023-Feb. 2024 totaling in $450 for absolutely NOTHING in return. This is THEFT, it shouldn't be this hard to get what you paid for, or at least get reimbursed for services never rendered.Business Response

I was being extorted by a person online and reached out to Digital Forensics Corp to seek assistance. Already under a large amount of stress due to the extortioner, I was pressured by Digital Forensics to purchase their services. They essentially used the same tactics as the original extortion playing on my fears whenever I seemed hesitant to purchase their services. Essentially being beaten down, I agreed to their three day plan. This was Thursday afternoon (2/29/2024). Over the phone, they promised high priority, close ties with local law enforcement, would start right away, and would work on it over the weekend. Finally, on Wednesday, 3/6/2024, I reached back out thru email seeking a status update. They finally responded and provided me with a PDF of what they had done, which was find out some information on the original extortioner, but nothing they would provide to the law enforcement or follow-up on. They would continue to monitor if I purchased additional services from them, but had only 48 hours to decide or they would delete everything they had gathered on the perpetrator. When I was not willing to purchase additional services from them, they just kept talking about how people who did not had their lives ruined. Everything with this company was based on scaring me, they did not meet the timelines they promised, and they oversold their services. They used high pressure scare tactics knowing I was in a vulnerable position. Without them preying on me when they knew I was stressed with their scare tactics, there is no way I would have agreed to their services.Business Response

On the night I was extorted, I urgently sought assistance and found Digital Forensics Corp (DFC) online. In a distressed state and simultaneously communicating with the extortionists, I was presented with a contract (which, at the moment, I wasn’t in a good state of mind to even look through or truly consider), and verbal explanation of their process, communicating with the extortionists on my behalf. I was led to believe that with their tools they would gather crucial intelligence on the extortionists, to use as leverage against them. Under immense pressure and time constraints, I agreed and signed the paperwork provided. However, upon reviewing the communication between the technician and the extortionists on my behalf, I am deeply dissatisfied with the limited service rendered. Despite assurances, the technician only obtained minimal and vague information and issued threats to involve law enforcement, which the extortionists easily dismissed due to the lack of specific details. More importantly, the advertised services included monitoring my social media accounts and deep/dark web activity, as well as being “on-call” in the event the extortions appeared again. Despite numerous attempts to obtain evidence of these services, all requests for information that any services are being rendered to me for the remaining $9520.35 have been blatantly ignored, except for reminders to update payment details. I acknowledge the delicate nature of my situation and do not seek to evade paying for the service altogether, but the value of the services was greatly misrepresented, overpriced, and remains unquantified. The remaining balance of $9520.35 is unreasonable for the services rendered as I am greatly unsatisfied with the services rendered. DFC capitalized on my vulnerability during a crisis, and their failure to provide tangible evidence of the services promised is unacceptable.Business Response

I came across Digital Forensics on 2/08/24. I signed up to receive their services on the same date, which was told me to be $149. On 2/10/24, I received a call from a technician that could not provide the company's services because the phone belonging to me could be accessed. I canceled the membership, and on the same phone conversation, they told me $149 would be refunded. That never happened. I called to follow up a few days later and *****(?) told me he would get refund processed but for some reason, opened another account for me. Still, no refund. I called back and spoke to *****, again, another account was created and another amount of $149 was charged, bringing the total charge to $298. Still no refund. I called several times after they had charged me, they kept telling me someone would call me back. No one ever did. I called 3/08/24, to find out a recurring amount of $149 had been charged in addition to the already charged, $298, bringing up the total to be $447. I called on 3/11/24 to Digital Forensics to get this resolved and finalized. I spoke with Kevin, who refused to give me his last name and was very rude to me. He told me someone would call me back and refused to let me speak to the manager. He also said that all of the other caseworker's were too busy to talk to me and he was helping me but, " he couldn't help me". All I want is this money to go back on the credit card that was used to make the initial transaction. Also, for no one else to be duped or of their money. Sincerely, **** ******Business Response

I was scammed and extorted by a person online and under stress and perceive threat I reached out to Digital Forensics Corp. who claimed will help me subdue the original scammer if I paid them a flat fee on top of a financing plan of $1500. Because of their fearmongering sale pressure under my emotional distress I agreed to pay Digital Forensics Corp said set amount and agreed to pay the initial $1500 financing fee while being continually pressured by them to purchase an immediate response plan for $5000. I signed what I thought was the $1500 plan which would have a case worker work on my case throughout the week to navigate the extortioner but after a week what was done was the bare minimal. This included a couple of messages to the extortioner before asking the person to click a link in an effort to obtain an IP address which the extortioner was not willing to do and at most Digital Forensics Corp was only to find out that the extortioner is using a proxy site. Digital Forensics Corp shared me said bare minimal work and pressured to sell me a $7.8k plan to harass them a little bit more throughout the next few weeks and make a PowerPoint to present to the person's local authorities which they still have no leads on. I declined and was still under the impression I was just going to pay my financing plan even if the services was vaguely described per a signed contract. I find out that I was under the expedited plan which was the $5k plan which services were not given and they claimed I'm under contract. I did reach out to their finance department to contest the tactic but they said I am under contract and offered someone in their department to speak with me about the attempt dispute. As of the date of this report, no one from their business has attempted to reach back to me. While I can pay the original verbally agreed finance plan despite services described be debatably met, I don't think this $5k coerced contact which didn't reflect services is justified.Business Response

On Wed, Nov. 1st, I paid for Digital Forencis to keep and protect my daughter's phone from spam, and scammers, hackets, etc. And primarily on her phone with monthly monitoring reports, due to the fact her phone has been continuously attacked for 7 months and has had much Identy theft accure..ruining her credit and more! I am a victim of a sextortion receiving threatening messages on my private phone which has been hacked . The company touts its services mitigating the situation ( I found them after a cursory search...the way we all find our services these days) after a cursory search. They provide this service on their website on 10/19/2023. Spoke to a great Case Manager and he mentions given the severity of my case he recommends a service to mitigate my situation in three days for a grand total of $7200. The service involved me sharing any threatening messages I received after hiring them and giving them access to my accounts (yes I know...). After paying the money I get a cursory call from an analyst on my case giving me some advice about forwarding texts and the like. As soon as I contacted them threats stop. I don't receive any more threatening messages. Did I mention, the threats materialize by accident after a call from my case manager when they call me and my wife picks up on the and she accidentally picks up. Long story short, its not good. All I want is a refund per the contract I signed (yes I Know...). Less than 24 hours have passed since my initial call and they are giving me the go-around for the refund since they have completed their end of the bargain. I am back to square one resolving the matter nu myself with my phone company and law enforcement after legal advice that will take a while to solve. I am not sure where i go from here but please do your due diligence. his is a cautionary tell to all and mostly to me.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. They are refusing to offer any refund.
The business in their response asked me to reach out to the customer service only to tell me that I initiated a chargeback on the initial payment made by credit card and that they are not gong to refund my money even after I suggested calling my credit card company to cancel the dispute. For the record the chargeback was initiated after their customer specialist refused to honor the refund policy on their original contract a day after I signed the service agreement. On that day the specialist I spoke to asked me to take a fraction of the refund I was owed per their contract. I have a copy of that settlement in my original complaint for reference.
My original complaint stands and can be resolved if they either agree to refund me a difference of $3900 and allow the chargeback of $1500 for a total refund of $5400. Or I allow the charge of $1500 on my card and they refund me $5400.
