We purchased a full set of replacement windows for our home with installation from Community Builders. The came to our home and completed the installation. On inspection it was determined that one window was defective. The top portion of the window falls when the window lock is released. The installation contractor stated that he would note this and return with-in 30 days with a replacement. Community Builders did not contact for 6 months so I called them I was sent to 3 other people on the phone and ended up leaving a VM. This has been going on for 2 years with them not returning calls and if they accidentally pick-up I am assured that so and so will call to set an appointment. This has happened 7 times. No return calls, no replacement window. If the exact window cannot be be ordered to replace the defective window I want a full refund for the cost of the window, installation, and interest on this amount. I have tried to work with Community Builders and they have not once returned my calls. This company has acted in bad faith and not fulfilled their contractual obligations or honored the warranty.Initial Complaint

In July of 2023, contact was made with Community Builders for a quote on home windows. On 8/25/23, a sales member arrived at our home to provide a demonstration of their product. A quote was given, a price agreed upon. At that time we wrote a check for $1,000.00 as deposit. (Which was cashed on 8/28/24). We were told it would take 8-10 weeks for the windows to come in. Several calls were made by us trying to get an update after about 2 months. No answers at that time. A gentleman called out of the blue one day to get a final measurement and stated our windows were next inline at the factory. Several more months went by, all while trying to contact someone at CBI for an update. Occasionally someone would answer and say theyd look into it and we should get a call back. Now 8 months down the road, still waiting he same issue, we still have no answers, cannot get in contact with anyone, and no idea if the windows will ever show up. At this time we no longer want the product we tried to purchase and just want our money returned. Even if the windows miraculously showed up Id refuse to have them installed due to customer service issues. If there ever is a problem with them, there will be no one to answer and resolve the problem.Business Response

Order placed in oct of 2023 was told apx 2 months until installation still cant get a installation date if and when you can reach someone at there office they say waiting on material and they have no idea when that might be and the cant reach them by phone to find outBusiness Response
Date: 04/25/2024
The order for **************** material has been placed, we are simply waiting for it to arrive. We are currently dealing with some shipping delays due to a new OS the vendor is using but they assure us things should start to move faster. I do apologize for **************** wait. As soon as we get all of the needed material to do his installation we will call to put him on the schedule. I also want to apologize about our phone providers system, we are in the process of changing providers due to the missed communication this has been causing our customers. ************ should have no trouble getting a hold of anyone starting Monday.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: Im not the first person to have to wait months for installation so I know it has nothing to do with a new OS. I just found out this weekend my neighbor filed a complaint with you against this company for the same reason also tried 3 times today still unable to reach anyone at the company seems giving you same lip service I getBusiness Response

Here is a letter we received from Jacuzzi about the shipping issues. Now not all of **************** material is coming from ******* but we don't schedule an installation until we have received all of the material. I do apologize for the delays. I and my Husband bought a new shower from Community Builders *** in *****. The contract was signed on 8/03/2023. The total price is $14288 and we put down $500 dollars. On 08/21/2023, ***** from Community Builders *** came to our house to take measurments. As of today, we have no new shower nor any estimate of when the shower will be installed. I called Community Builders *** on: 09/21/2023, 12/07/2023, 12/11/2023, 12/12/2023 (twice), 12/13/2023 (twice), 01/08/2024, 01/09/2024, 01/11/2024 (twice), 1/12/2024, and 02/21/2024. I signed a contract back on 7/7/2023 with ***************************** *************) to have a large soaking tub turned into a safe walk-in shower. It was to have a custom pan in Beige and walls were to be seaside. I put $3000.00 down and financed the rest through tgheir company. I had 4 days to cancel the project. At this date of 3/07/2024 the company has never called me, or if they did and I did not answer, they did not leave a message. At this time, I called on 10/23/2023 at 08:45 to see when installation would start and was told you were waiting on supplies. I had to call 3 different numbers ******************-420-8999, and ************) and never got an answer. Finally, I called the ******** again and held on until the operator picked up. She is the only one that ever answers. She told me they were still waiting on supplies from *******. I said Ok but thought to myself that i had ordered a shower not a *******. On 1-22-2024 I called again, and the operator told me again that they were waiting on supplies. I asked which supplies, and she said "WHAT?" I said which parts were they waiting on and she replied "ALL OF IT". I called back on 1/29/2024. At this time, I was mad! So, I said, "you give me 4 days to change my mind and cancel the order, but you have a lifetime to install it?" It's been over 7 months with no word coming from the company. I told her my next step would be to call the better business bureau or go to Channel 4 and see if they might want to look into this. I told them I would like to see some progress soon or I would like to get my $3000 refunded so I can look elsewhere. I have e-mailed them, sent text, written to their customer service office and acutally requested an appointment using their web page, and I have never received any response.Business Response

My 85 year old grandmother hired Community Builders to replace her bathtub and install a handicap accessible shower/tub. After several weeks of delays, they finally began to complete the service requested. Upon demolition of the bathroom, it was discovered there were plumbing issues with the pipes underneath the house. My grandmother contacted me regarding this matter. I am her POA, advance directive as well as executive of her trust. I have been contacting Community Builders to get more and complete detailed information as to the matter such as an itemized billing invoice for the bathtub/shower installation, pipe repairs, pictures of their findings with the plumbing issues and an itemized billing invoice for the plumbing repairs for over two weeks with no results. I continue to receive rude and unprofessional conduct from the employee who answers prompt #3 when you call first name ***** last name unknown. I have asked to speak with the supervisor or manager of the company. I was told this person is ******** last name unknown. I have been transferred to a voicemail that I was told is ********'s but it has a prerecorded message from someone named ****** last name unknown. I have asked for full names and email addresses to correspond with the management department as well as the company's contractors business license number and I have not been given any of this information. Their website is flagged for not being secure and being at risk for information hijacking. I have left several messages but to no avail I have not spoken with anyone in management nor have I received any of the information requested or received answers to my questions. My grandmother has now been without her bathtub/shower for almost three weeks. This has now become more than just a business issue, this now becomes a health and safety concern. I feel like there is age and racial discrimination taken place with this matter.Business Response

On August 22, 2023 a rep from the above business visited with myself and husband in regards to a bath/ shower install. My husband had contacted the business from a number given on a tv add for a one day ******* shower install. The material was ordered, and paid for on this day. We had recently sold our home of 16 yrs, and downsized, purchasing a smaller home in town. Our previous home had a walk-in shower making it convenient to shower my elderly mother, who has dementia, and I am her full- time caregiver. We knew this was something needed in our new home. I had spent $6500 to put my mother in respite care during the time of the move, and was hoping the new shower would be installed prior to bringing her back here. Unfortunately it wasnt, but we continued to be hopeful it would be done soon. On the first night of my mother being in the home, she fell in the bathroom. The injury caused 3 broken ribs, and injury to her lung. Since this accident she has declined considerably and is now on home hospice. Its become impossible to get her in and out of the tub/shower. We have been more than patient with this company, reaching out to them monthly. Each time I was told they hadnt been sent the material from *******. But I was never given any other options. Today I made my monthly call, and to request a refund. The bath renovation was for my mother, not us, and its too late now. The representative I spoke with was not friendly this time around, and although Im sure I sounded upset, I kept my tone down but firmly told her we wanted a refund. Its been 5 MONTHS! I said to her that we paid them, not *******, and as builders we expected to at least be given another option from them. After being told she would look into it, but its *******, not them, she said have a good day and hung up on me. I have also tried to get in touch with ******* with no success. We just want to cancel this job, and get a refund. *******************Business Response

We do apologize for the time that this has taken. We are dealing with some serious issues with ******* and their shipping practices. I will have our production director look over your file today and see if there are any options we could offer that *** speed this process up.Customer Answer
Date: 02/21/2024
I am rejecting this response because: We believe sufficient time has expired to have a walk in shower installed in our bathroom. We could have had an entire house built in 6 mo! Besides my mother being on home hospice now, so the walk in shower is no longer needed.
We are requesting a full refund.Business Response
Date: 03/08/2024
Please review your contract as it clearly states that "ALL DOWN PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE". In order to receive a full refund the contract would have had to be canceled before the 3rd day after the contract was signed as per the "Notice to Cancel".Customer Answer
Date: 03/19/2024
The said company replied stating we had 3 days from the time of purchase to cancel. At 3 days we were excited to have the walk in shower installed. At 7 months weve gone through all the emotions, and are now feeling incredibly frustrated to say the least!
Weve had very little communication from this company, besides scheduling measurements. We havent been given any options, or dates as to when we should have expected the install. Only the up to 10 weeks told to us by the salesman at time of purchase. We are now way past that 10 week period.
If this company is refusing to give a refund, we would like to at least get a phone call with options.
Our next step *** have to be the local news, or an attorney for options.Business Response
Date: 04/25/2024
I do apologize but as your contract states all downpayments are non-refundable.Customer Answer
Date: 05/09/2024
I am rejecting this response because:
We didnt just put down a deposit. We PAID IN FULL for a product, that after almost 9 months we still haven't received. For the safety of an elderly person.
This whole process has caused more stress and anxiety than moving and looking after a parent with Alzheimers combined! Its as if Community Builders has stolen $9200 of our money and we should just throw our arms in the air and accept it. Shame on you!Initial Complaint

We wanted a new shower w/chair etc., before my husbands total knee surgery, May 12, 2023. *****, a man was sent out to do the work, brought his wife to help. The next two days he brought a friend. He had cut the new walls in half saying he couldn't get them in as whole pieces, We didn't like that & worried water would eventually seep into the cut area's even though he put little strips along the cuts. Also it didn't look good. When he said they were finished, we wondered where the ************ were. He told us they had to be ordered & then installed! We were not aware of that. When you hear showers etc., installed in a day or two, you think that's how it goes! He told us, "you can still use it, just put a lot of towels down!!!" We waited until May 31st for for someone to come and measure for the glass ************.Then we get a call from Community Builders that he couldn't get good measurements due to faulty installation of the shower. More calls & weeks past before another man was sent out, bringing his daughter with him to help. He told us the whole thing had to be redone, that it was all wrong! So he tore the whole thing out & while doing so found an electrical wire in the wall that *** have been torn by the previous install & in my mind might have caused a fire!! So thank God he fixed that & installed the walls to the shower in one piece & apparently correctly because when another glass installer was sent out, "AGAIN" several weeks later, they were able to get correct measurements & two weeks later installed those parts. The glass was to arrive the middle of August. So by the first week of September, I believe the shower was said to have been completely done. We talked with Community about the final payment & asked for some kind of credit. They took $2,000.00 off. A couple of weeks later, the shower head started leaking & they still have not come out to fix & they can't tell me when they can. It is almost 10 months now dealing with this Company.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Yes it's a repair but a repair either by shoddy workmanship again in that area or faulty/bad seals! I would think that this would be a priority. The unit was only about 2 weeks old. I mean we are now into 4 months of signifigant dripping. When I first called to report the leak they never responded. When I called again a couple of weeks later, they said a work order had been sent but couldn't give me any time frame. I called again several weeks later and asked if they would at least let me know if this would be covered by wty, which it should, but I never got a response from them. I even faxed a letter to the complaint ****** several weeks ago and now here we are because I never heard from them again. If the parts and labor are covered by Community bldgs they could even send a plumber from our area to do the work, like they did with the door and walls. If parts and labor are NOT covered by them, we might as well hire someone to fix the leak and then I will take it up with ******* at a later date.Customer Answer

Hello,
So Community Builders sent someone out on 1/29/24. She attempted to tighten the faucet. She waited for a while, we thought it was good and wouldn't leak. She said if it leaks again, then it's the valve. So I assumed that if it was one or the other she would have been able to fix it then. I checked sometime after she had left and sure enough it was leaking. I called her and video'd it so she could see. She informed me that she would have to get what she thought was called a cartridge and probably be back that week. (If it was one of two possible issues, why not send the part w/the repair person) I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM THEM (AGAIN) SINCE THE 29TH !!
