I received a load from Chip Drop, LLC approximating **** cubic yards; about 4 days later I noticed raised black dots all over my white electric vehicle (imagine measles); I eventually learned it is Artillery Fungus found only in wet wood chips not trees so I got a load that had been sitting wet for sometime. This fungus ************* up to 20 feet, they attach to surface with a glue-like substance that is extremely difficult and often impossible to remove. I contacted both Chip Drop and the company that dropped it; Chip Drop dismissed it as fly droppings and the other company hung up on me. Three emails later, Chip drops founder, ****************, said he couldnt cover every scenario in the FAQs but nothing there warns of this or any --damage. I asked for help covering the $400 cost of removal and all I got was sorry about your vehicle. Chip Drop is not licensed in VA and there is zero quality control or oversight and he has a rote system of send pics and sorry as all complaints show. Ive posted wherever possible to issue the warning he should have prominent on his money-making sight

We reviewed the images that were sent over of the black dots. I mentioned to the customer that I, personally, had had this same thing happen to the side of the my house once, and that I could empathize with the situation. I was not sure if they were fly droppings or the fungus that was mentioned. I had never heard of artillery fungus. Either way, ChipDrop does not cover any damages that might be caused as a result of wood chip mulch being delivered to a property under normal circumstances. This was definitely a normal ChipDrop, and everything checked out. Just an unlucky situation I suppose.

The good folks at Chip Drop do exactly what they say. This is a wonderful service for both the arborist and the homeowner. I've received three loads so far - once every year for three years - and I love the big sweet-smelling mountain of fresh chips. They are the fresh chips and grindings that you see when a crew is chopping down and chopping up old trees, limbs and bushes. Mostly chips, with some small twigs and some bits of shredded leaves. But wow what a bargain! I contribute $40 for each load to help ensure quick delivery - and it works! Each big load (probably 20+ yards) I've received has been easy to transport over my property with a simple pitchfork and wheelbarrow. The results in my beds and gardens looks awesome every time. Highly recommended.

Super satisfied, yes it took a while but free and waiting go hand in hand. Ironically, because of the hurricane I think it pushed things to move a little bit quicker. But it arrived and was exactly what I wanted! They even provide little video clips on how to properly use the chip mulch! Grateful.

I wanted to extend my native gardens so requested a chip drop so I could mulch over the lawn. I did pay the optional $20 to cover the arborist's fee and the next day was called by an arborist who told me he was on the way! They dropped 8 cubic yards of wood chips in the front yard at my direction and I've been happily spreading the mulch ever since. I have enough for my new gardens and to re-mulch my old ones. I might not always need so much mulch, but Chip Drop is a great resource to have on hand.

I received my first Chip Drop this morning. The gentleman delivering waited for me bc I do not live on the property since Im in the process of building plus the heavy morning traffic. He was careful with the surrounding property and even suggested a better location within the area I wanted. I will be requesting more mulch from this company.

Got a HUGE load of nice white oak wood chips! Just what I was needing! Ive read some complaints about this company but I dont understand them. Chipdrop is very clear on the amount of chips and how they arent what you would go and buy in a store. Its a free service, youve got to be able to roll with it. If thats not for you, go buy some chips. I had a great experience with Chipdrop and I plan to use their service again next time I need chips!

Chip drop arrived within 2 weeks of signing up! The chips we got were all pine and smell so good. The driver unloaded the chips in the best place also.

Chip Drop has been awesome for me. Seeing truckloads of chips passing nearby on their way to some facility located some distance away, perhaps to a nonproductive end, makes me wonder. With Chip Drop, the truck stops here. I don't have to find some means of retrieving chips from that "some facility". The chips are used productively with a host of environmental benefits. And the price! It doesn't get any better. I do think paying the small, suggested offset charge is the right thing to do. Seems like everybody involved and the Earth all win. I understand that this is probably a learning experience for some folks and ultimately not for everyone. But! Count me in!!

Efficient and you get exactly what they say. Free and delivered to your house! A terrific service to big gardeners like myself who really need a lot of wood chips every year for weed control. This service saved me a ton of time and money schlepping bags from my local big-box store. Plus, while it wasn't required, the arborist called me ahead of the drop to double check which species would be OK. The arborist plopped a car-sized pile of chips exactly where I wanted it and now I've got lots of mulching to do for winter! Can't say enough nice things.

Literally soooo many swarms of gnats in the wood mulch like thousands upon thousands.Reached out to customer service and said that basically sorry to hear that. No removal after I asked and was told to let them die in the heat.. never again. Now I will have to cover the cost of pest control.

Gnats and other bugs are pretty common in a fresh pile of wood chip mulch. It is technically organic, decomposing matter. That said, once the material is spread out in the yard, it dries out pretty quickly, and any decomposition comes to a grinding halt. Gnats and bugs should dissipate at that point. Sorry for the trouble with this load.
